The Original iPhone SE is Still Running Smoothly on iOS 14.5 Beta 7
It's good to see someone still using the original iPhone SE here on these betas, always good to see that just got the iPhone 12 Pro Max, best decision ever made. I do like the 12 Pro Max which I have right down here however it's too big for my taste. iPhone 12 Pro Max still have the delay bug with CarPlay and audio so I do not have access to CarPlay anymore but if you guys are having issues with car play and audio possibly a delay let me know and kind of expand on that a little bit more in the comments if you guys are still having that when rearranging songs in a playlist the moment I press done the song goes back to its old spot it's like control Z. So, interesting I'm not having that bug but there are definitely bugs still in the queue inside of music so I'm not having that but hopefully that will get solved very soon.
Iphone 7 is actually running smoother than the previous beta good to hear a lot better battery than beta 6. It seems to have some Siri new voice sample issues only saying one word and then it's done the whole "I'm not sure what you're saying there, it's kind of a typo" there but looks like there might be an issue with the new Siri voices when you preview their voices. Overall, thank you guys for the feedback overall it's very positive in terms of beta 7 with performance battery life and things like that so thank you to everybody who voted that does always help out and kind of help us all get an understanding of how the latest version is running.
What's Next: iOS 14.5 Release Candidate
We're coming up on the week of April 12th, that is when I originally predicted iOS 14.5 to get released to the public so that's what I thought it would be but now it looks like we're probably going to have an RC before that. So, next week is when we should see the RC build which was previously known as the GM build. This is the release candidate this is the release for developers the final release for developers a week usually a week before the actual public gets the final release so next week, the week of the 12th, is when we could see the RC.
Now, what's different about the RC versus a regular beta is that it could get released on any day. So, it could get released on Monday, it could get released on Friday now Apple does usually like these Tuesdays so Tuesday the 13th is still the most likely but an RC build could be released on any day. So, it's really hard to say when.
If we do get the RC early next week if we get on like a Monday there is a possibility of 14.5 getting released to the public later in the week next week or if not it will be released on the week of the 19th most likely again on a Tuesday, Tuesday the 20th. A lot of this also rides on a potential Apple event now we still don't have any invites or any kind of further news or indication that this is actually happening but if we did get an Apple event I would expect 14.5 to get released after that event or if new products get released I would expect to see 14.5 the day of those new products but that is still yet to be seen and again nothing has been confirmed in terms of any type of event or products so at this point we're just gonna have to wait and see.
So, If I had to guess I would say that we would not see iOS 14.5 any later than sometime on the week of the 19th I don't think Apple is going to wait until the final week of April to release this so we are within two weeks of seeing 14.5 released to the public after months of beta testing so everybody will be able to rejoice after that and then we'll move on to 14.6 beta or whatever Apple has in store for us then but anyways guys, there you have it, that is my follow-up review on iOS 14.5 Beta 7. It's been running great so far and I just cannot wait until the final version. I mean I'm tired of waiting and going through these betas even though I love it, I love covering this for you guys just like you guys. I also want that final version released to the public but if you guys enjoy these updates like I do every weekend I would really appreciate if you give this video a thumbs up and if you have not subscribed already make sure you hit that subscribe button down below to get weekly updates on these iOS 14 betas and of course, I will be covering all the iOS 15 stuff in June as well.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name is brandon and i've been using ios 14.5 beta 7 all week long and just as i do every single saturday i wanted to give you guys an update on how the software has been running for me and also for you guys so we're going to be talking about the performance the battery life the bugs bug fixes additional new changes and of course when we can expect the next ios 14 beta or the final version so let's first start off with some additional changes here and obviously we're in a seventh beta you guys know not to expect too much in terms of actual changes that you can see physically now one thing i did actually learn just recently is that the new feature in 14.5 the app tracking transparency feature has never showed up for me i mean even since the first beta it's always been completely grayed out for me and there's actually a workaround for this to get this working now i'm not sure if this is by design or what because a lot of people have this completely grayed out even if they have applications that should show up here now to work around this and to get this to work and not be grayed out it's actually just sign out of your icloud and sign back in so i'm going to go to my icloud account right here and sign out and i'm signing out of my icloud account right now i'm not going to keep a copy of anything let's just sign out and we're going to sign right back in and then that toggle should be enabled it should not be grayed out anymore and we'll be able to turn on and off the app tracking transparency feature all right so let's go ahead and sign in to our apple id again all right so we are signed back in to our icloud account now let's go down to privacy and to tracking and as you can see it is no longer grayed out and i can now turn this on and off and actually if you go into an application that uses this let's say mba for example it will now show up the prompter it should show up the prompt here that asks you if you want to you know if you want the application to follow you across different applications there you go so i never actually got this me personally i've not gotten this pop up at all in 14.5 until i learned that you just need to sign out of your icloud account and sign back in so you can allow this and then of course if you go back into your settings you can see the toggle for that and you can see it right down below there so i just figured i'd share that again i don't know if that's by design if it's a bug or what if apple's maybe waiting for the final version until they just completely allow this for everybody but if not that is a workaround right now to get that to work here on 14.5 so just an interesting little thing i just learned recently now also if we go into my iphone 11 pro max over here the new battery feature the new battery bug fix pretty much which is the recalibration tool for the iphone 11 series has shown up on my iphone 11 pro max here so if you go to our battery settings and then to battery health you will see the message up top right here that says important battery message your battery health reporting system is recalibrating and of course we do also have a little asterisk next to the maximum capacity right there and if you read what it means it says this is the reported maximum capacity before recalibration actual maximum capacity may be different so that is what the new verbiage and what that new feature here in 14.5 looks like live on an iphone 11 pro max so it shows my battery health is at 88 but there is a bug with the iphone 11 series and that could be incorrect i could actually have like 92 percent maximum capacity or i could have like 83 percent and this could be inaccurate so once apple and ios 14.5 recalibrates my battery which could take a couple of weeks it will show the proper value right there and then this message will go away and you can also tap on learn more and it will take you to the support page right here which i linked to in my original what's new video so i just figured i'd show you guys what that actually looks like running here on the iphone 11 with this new feature another thing i noticed here in beta 7 is that when you use the report feature here inside of the maps application you can report an accident a hazard or a speed check i actually noticed that both the hazard and the accident work and they actually show up on the map but for whatever reason the speed check like to report a cop maybe that's like you know gunning people if they're speeding that doesn't show up on the map now i'm not sure if that's a regulatory thing or not but for whatever reason that feature is still not fully functional here in 14.5 it doesn't show up on the map like it should another thing i noticed here in beta 7 is that the previews now always show up inside of the messages application so for some reason in beta 6 the previews would not show up when you would send a link other people could see it but on your device it would not show a preview right there and that has been fixed here in beta 7 as confirmed by me and numerous other people also had the issue on beta 6 but now it's been fixed here in beta 7 which is good because that was one of the most annoying bugs to me in 14.5 and then also i did have a bug with airdrop where when i would you know go to airdrop something everybody's name would pop up twice like their contact info would show up twice that has also been fixed here in beta seven i airdropped multiple things throughout the week and never had anybody show up as a duplicate another new feature that some people are noticing here in beta 7 and this could also be a server-side update it probably is a server-side update for apple inside of the app store but some users are seeing search tags in the app store so for example if you search like wallpaper or photos it would show little tags underneath the search bar to kind of get more specific with what type of search what type of applications you're looking for so just some new features coming to the app store and like i said a lot of people on the beta program here on beta 7 are seeing that first but some people are also reporting seeing that on 14.4.2 and 14.4.1 as well so it looks like it's going to be a server-side update that should be out pretty soon now as far as existing bugs here in beta 7. i did actually notice one main bug here in beta 7. so i just got that splash screen there that was interesting because i was just inside the music application but one of the things i noticed here in beta 7 is if we go to our library and we go to one of our playlists right here we'll just go to this playlist right here and we try to delete a song from the playlist we actually don't get that option anymore we only have a delete from library and sometimes when you swipe over the little trash can icons not even there so it is for a lot of these but for some songs it just simply was not there and it seems like you can't actually delete songs from a playlist now you have to delete it from your library so i can't even tap on the three dots on this so that might be a bug there as well with that song specifically see if i can 3d press on that so interesting i'm not sure why that doesn't have any options right there but you can see i cannot actually remove the song from the playlist also earlier today on my iphone 12 pro my main device which is on beta 7 the wi-fi dropped for about 30 to 45 minutes whereas every other device was working perfectly fine so i tried on multiple other ios versions my computer it was nothing wrong with my wi-fi but for some reason my iphone 12 pro on beta 7 here just completely dropped wi-fi for like 45 minutes i tried everything you know rebooting the device you know i tried the airplane mode i tried turning wifi on and off and nothing and then it just magically came back so a really strange bug there with wi-fi that was the first time i had any issue with wi-fi at all in ios 14.5 so pretty interesting and honestly kind of concerning that it happened in beta 7 and not in an earlier beta and then of course some users are still reporting the green tint issue and once again i don't have green tint on any of my devices any of my iphone 12s or any other device so unfortunately for you guys i'm not too sure what to tell you i mean we may have to wait till ios 15 to see a fix for the green tint bug just because we did also have an issue similar to this with the iphone 10r and that was fixed via software so hopefully this can as well and hopefully it's not a hardware issue now another bug i noticed here in beta 7 is that the airplay to homepod is still completely buggy a really buggy experience here inside of the music application so just got another pop-up here in music for some reason so when i go ahead and send a song to like my homepod when i go on here and then airplay to a homepod the whole experience is still extremely buggy here in beta 7. it's been like that ever since 14.5 was released not too sure why so like if i played this here in the office if i tap to go to it and you can see first of all it takes a while to actually go to it and then when i press play you can see it's just lagging there it doesn't even show that it's playing right now i mean i'm not sure what's going on the whole experience is just so buggy and it's like this all the time sometimes i have to go in here and long press on this and then go here and i have to go back to whatever i was playing the music on to actually be able to control the volume and go next and control the queue and things like that so just the overall experience is still very buggy when you airplay to a home pod with music at least now as far as the performance goes here on beta 7 i mean aside from those few bugs that i just mentioned everything seems fine here on beta 7 i mean performance is excellent i think it's better than 14.4.2 in my opinion now going from beta 6 to beta 7 i haven't noticed any difference at all in overall raw performance of course we do have those bug fixes which always help and you know especially the messages one really helped a lot and the airdrop one helped a lot but we still do have some bugs like airplay to homepod it's still very buggy and things like that but overall raw performance gaming and just doing your everyday thing i mean social media taking pictures things like that everything is solid really nothing at all to complain about when it comes to performance here on beta 7. it's also the same for my ipad i actually gain more on my ipad pro and once again i haven't really noticed a difference in performance since going from beta 4 to beta 5. ever since beta 5 performance has been you know kind of just steady being really good now when it comes to the battery life there's not really a difference here in battery life either i mean i still get through most of the day on a charge here on these betas again it wasn't really until beta five where i started having good i consider good battery life here on this 14.5 beta so nothing to complain about there with battery either and once again i do use these every single day on my main device both my phones and my ipads so before we talk about the release date for 14.5 let's first go over the community poll so we could see what you guys had to say about beta 7. so you guys can see 10 hours ago i asked how is ios 14.5 beta 7 running for you and you can see we got about 8 000 votes so thank you to everybody for voting 18 said excellent six percent said good four percent said not so good and 72 percent are waiting on the final version myself included so let's go ahead and read off some of these comments to see what you guys had to say about this latest version imagine how tired we are waiting definitely very tired of waiting right there so jay stahl i can't remove a song from playlist anymore only options delete song from library that is the bug i just mentioned earlier so it seems like multiple people are having the issue as well based on the thumbs up right there the only small bug i've had since ios 14.5 is when i fully restart my iphone 6s it shows as 100 charge and then i'll go back to the actual percentage after about 10 seconds this is not a problem before 14.5 so yeah that was a bug on i believe beta 5 and beta 6 but it is not a bug anymore here on beta 7 at least not for me it doesn't show the 100 charged bug anymore on the lock screen so i didn't know that people are still having that so if you're on beta 7 and you still have that issue let me know in a comment down below i was unaware that people are still having that lock screen battery percentage bug edwardo says do you think there will be a 14.5 point x beta or are we clear until ios 15. so i think that we will see like a 14.6 beta maybe there's not usually betas on point of point updates like 14.5.1 like there wouldn't be a beta those are just usually security fixes so there's not any need to beta test that so 14.6 i could see maybe even a 14.7 before ios 15. because keep in mind in june apple is only releasing the beta of ios 15 we're not going to get the final version of ios 15 until way later in the fall so we're going to have a 14.6 14.7 and i mean there is even a possibility of like a 14.8 so there will be point of point updates throughout the entire year until september when ios 15 actually gets released to the public john says by the time they release this face mask won't be a thing anymore so that's uh you know i think face mask will be a thing for quite a while longer but that is still kind of funny because this is taking forever to get released battery life is great on my iphone 11. battery life feels better on the 12 mini excellent on my iphone se 2016 so good to see somebody still using the original iphone se here on these betas always good to see that just got the iphone 12 pro max best decision ever made i do like the 12 pro max which i have right down here however it's too big for my taste iphone 12 pro max still have the delay bug with carplay and audio so i do not have access to carplay anymore but if you guys are having issues with car play and audio possibly a delay let me know and kind of expand on that a little bit more in the comments if you guys are still having that when rearranging songs in a playlist the moment i press done the song goes back to its old spot it's like control z so interesting i'm not having that bug but there are definitely bugs still in the queue inside of music so i'm not having that but hopefully that will get solved very soon i'm just going to read a couple more here iphone 7 is actually running smoother than the previous beta good to hear a lot better battery than beta 6. it seems to have some siri new voice sample issues only saying one word and then it's done the whole i'm not sure what you're saying there it's kind of a typo there but looks like there might be an issue with the new everybody who voted that does always help out and kind of help us all get an understanding of how the latest version is running all right so now let's talk about what is next so we're coming up on the said not so good and 72 percent are waiting on the final version myself included so let's go ahead and read off some of these comments to see what you guys had to say about this latest version imagine how tired we are waiting definitely very tired of waiting right there so jay stahl i can't remove a song from playlist anymore only options delete song from library that is the bug i just mentioned earlier so it seems like multiple people are having the issue as well based on the thumbs up right there the only small bug i've had since ios 14.5 is when i fully restart my iphone 6s it shows as 100 charge and then i'll go back to the actual percentage after about 10 seconds this is not a problem before 14.5 so yeah that was a bug on i believe beta 5 and beta 6 but it is not a bug anymore here on beta 7 at least not for me it doesn't show the 100 charged bug anymore on the lock screen so i didn't know that people are still having that so if you're on beta 7 and you still have that issue let me know in a comment down below i was unaware that people are still having that lock screen battery percentage bug edwardo says do you think there will be a 14.5 point x beta or are we clear until ios 15. so i think that we will see like a 14.6 beta maybe there's not usually betas on point of point updates like 14.5.1 like there wouldn't be a beta those are just usually security fixes so there's not any need to beta test that so 14.6 i could see maybe even a 14.7 before ios 15. because keep in mind in june apple is only releasing the beta of ios 15 we're not going to get the final version of ios 15 until way later in the fall so we're going to have a 14.6 14.7 and i mean there is even a possibility of like a 14.8 so there will be point of point updates throughout the entire year until september when ios 15 actually gets released to the public john says by the time they release this face mask won't be a thing anymore so that's uh you know i think face mask will be a thing for quite a while longer but that is still kind of funny because this is taking forever to get released battery life is great on my iphone 11. battery life feels better on the 12 mini excellent on my iphone se 2016 so good to see somebody still using the original iphone se here on these betas always good to see that just got the iphone 12 pro max best decision ever made i do like the 12 pro max which i have right down here however it's too big for my taste iphone 12 pro max still have the delay bug with carplay and audio so i do not have access to carplay anymore but if you guys are having issues with car play and audio possibly a delay let me know and kind of expand on that a little bit more in the comments if you guys are still having that when rearranging songs in a playlist the moment i press done the song goes back to its old spot it's like control z so interesting i'm not having that bug but there are definitely bugs still in the queue inside of music so i'm not having that but hopefully that will get solved very soon i'm just going to read a couple more here iphone 7 is actually running smoother than the previous beta good to hear a lot better battery than beta 6. it seems to have some siri new voice sample issues only saying one word and then it's done the whole i'm not sure what you're saying there it's kind of a typo there but looks like there might be an issue with the new siri voices when you preview their voices so overall thank you guys for the feedback overall it's very positive in terms of beta 7 with performance battery life and things like that so thank you to everybody who voted that does always help out and kind of help us all get an understanding of how the latest version is running all right so now let's talk about what is next so we're coming up on the week of april 12th that is when i originally predicted ios 14.5 to get released to the public so that's what i thought it would be but now it looks like we're probably going to have an rc before that so next week is when we should see the rc bill which was previously known as the gm build this is the release candidate this is the release for developers the final release for developers a week usually a week before the actual public gets the final release so next week the week of the 12th is when we could see the rc now what's different about the rc versus a regular beta is that it could get released on any day so it could get released on monday it could get released on friday now apple does usually like these tuesdays so tuesday the 13th is still the most likely but an rc build could be released on any day so it's really hard to say when now if we do get the rc early next week if we get on like a monday there is a possibility of 14.5 getting released to the public later in the week next week or if not it will be released on the week of the 19th most likely again on a tuesday there tuesday the 20th now a lot of this also rides on a potential apple event now we still don't have any invites or any kind of further news or indication that this is actually happening but if we did get an apple event i would expect 14.5 to get released after that event or if new products get released i would expect to see 14.5 the day of those new products but that is still yet to be seen and again nothing has been confirmed in terms of any type of event or products so at this point we're just gonna have to wait and see but if i had to guess i would say that we would not see ios 14.5 any later than sometime on the week of the 19th i don't think the apple is going to wait until the final week of april to release this so we are within two weeks of seeing 14.5 released to the public after months of beta testing so everybody will be able to rejoice after that and then we'll move on to 14.6 beta or whatever apple has in store for us then but anyways guys there you have it that is my follow-up review on ios 14.5 beta 7. it's been running great so far and i just cannot wait until the final version i mean i'm tired of waiting and going through these betas even though i love it i love covering this for you guys just like you guys i also want that final version released to the public but if you guys enjoy these updates like i do every weekend i would really appreciate if you give this video a thumbs up and if you have not subscribed already make sure you hit that subscribe
