Reviewing the Apple Magic Trackpad: A Comprehensive Analysis

I've been using the Apple Magic trackpad for over six months now, and I'm extremely impressed with its performance. Before diving into the review, I'd like to discuss one issue that I've encountered with the magic Trackpad. Specifically, it doesn't work well with older Macs. I was using it with a 24-inch iMac, and at times, I experienced serious lag issues due to the trackpad's wireless tracking device relying on Bluetooth technology.

The magic Trackpad works seamlessly with newer Macs, such as those running Lion. However, its performance can be lacking when paired with older models. It's essential to note that this issue might not affect all users, but it's something to consider if you're planning to use the trackpad with an older Mac.

Now, let's move on to the physical overview of the magic Trackpad. The trackpad is composed of a block of aluminum, which provides excellent durability and stability. The entire front surface of the trackpad is made up of aluminum, acting as the tracking surface. To be honest, I find it fascinating that the trackpad has a thin sheet of glass layered on top of the aluminum. This design element allows for smooth gliding and easy cleaning.

When you open the trackpad, you'll notice two AA batteries or rechargeable batteries available for use. The trackpad can also take these batteries, ensuring you have a reliable power source. On the other side of the trackpad, there's an on/off switch that lets you control the device. A small green light indicates whether the trackpad is connected and operational. It's interesting to note that the trackpad automatically shuts down when not in use, eliminating the need to manually turn it off or on.

The back of the magic Trackpad consists of plastic, housing two footrests that serve as buttons for the left and right clicks. You can also utilize a tap-to-click function to register a click by simply tapping on the trackpad. This feature allows for easy navigation and interaction with your computer.

One of the standout features of the magic Trackpad is its excellent build quality, ensuring it will last for an extended period. In my experience, I've noticed that the trackpad has become my primary input device due to its seamless performance and user-friendly interface. As a result, I use my mouse only around 5% of the time, thanks to the magic Trackpad's convenience.

It's worth noting that while the magic Trackpad can be used for many tasks, it might not completely replace a traditional mouse. For instance, applications like Photoshop or video editing require precise pixel-level adjustments that can't be easily achieved with the trackpad alone. To configure the trackpad's functions, I utilize the trackpad control panel. By enabling features such as tap-to-click and two-finger scrolling, I can efficiently navigate and interact with my computer. When using a website like Engadget, which has an extensive webpage, I find that two fingers are sufficient to quickly scroll through the content.

I'd also like to demonstrate some of the other features available on the magic Trackpad. By using three fingers to swipe left or right, I can easily navigate through previous pages and move forward with ease. Similarly, by employing four fingers to flick down, I can invoke the expose function to access multiple desktops and windows.

In conclusion, the Apple Magic trackpad has become an essential component of my computing setup. Its seamless performance, combined with its user-friendly interface, make it a vital tool for everyday tasks. While there may be some limitations to using the magic Trackpad with older Macs, the overall experience is still worth exploring.

surface is made up of aluminium and this is the tracking surface actually a thin sheet of glass is layered on the aluminium let me Zoom it a bit so that you can view it as you can see there's a thin sheet of glass layered over the aluminium and this helps in gliding our fingers over the trackpad cleaning it also is really easy on the side if you open this this we can insert the two AA batteries it can also take rechargeable batteries I use them with the rechargeable batteries and on the other side we have the onoff switch there is also a small green lead light on the front to show if it's connected the green lead light is not switched on all the time and this track pad automatically shuts itself down when not in use so you need not use the onoff button to enable it or disable it the back is made up of plastic and we have these two foot rest these act as buttons basically the left click and the right click you can also just use the tap to click function to register a click so by just tapping you register a click the build quality of Apple Magic trackpad is really good and this product should last you for a very long time actually the magic Trackpad has completely replaced the usage of my mouse I use my mouse just around 5% of the time and this is my setup the Apple Bluetooth keyboard the magic Trackpad and a Wired Mouse the magic Trackpad cannot replace a mouse completely because you might need a mouse for applications like Photoshop or video editing where precise pixel level adjustment is necessary but for other tasks that is 90% of your tust a magic Trackpad works well you can basically use the uh trackpad control panel to configure the track part I have enabled the tap to click so you just tap to get a click I have also enabled the dragging I have enable the two finger scrolling by which if you can scroll the web page I'll show you that uh let me show you the guestures now we are on tech2 Bas and using the scroll feature I just used the two fingers and scroll up or down to scroll let us go to a site called engag it and this site has a very long web page and to quickly scroll we use the two finger quick flick and as you can see we can quickly scroll the web page we just flick the two fingers quickly and the web page will scroll quickly as we have enabled the tab to click to register a click we just tap and the click is registered and for right clicking I just tap the two fingers at the same time and I get the right click menu to go back to a previous page we use the three finger uh swipe to the left to go back to the previous page and we use the three finger right to move forward we can also go back to the desktop by using the four finger flick and flicking the web page this shows the desktop to get it back we use again the four finger and pull back we can also invoke the expose function and to do that we just take the four fingers and swipe down and this is our expose so as you can see the magic track part works great and is an ideal replacement for the mouse if you use a Mac desktop and the upcoming operating system that is lion has a lot of touch based features and the magic track pad can take advantage of the same I
