Vantrue R2 Ultra HD Dash Camera

**Unboxing and First Impressions of a New Dash Cam with a Built-in Screen**

I've finally gotten around to unboxing and trying out a new dash cam that I recently purchased, and I'm excited to share my first impressions with you. As I opened the box, I was immediately struck by how small it is compared to the pictures online. But don't let its size fool you - this little guy packs a punch when it comes to features and functionality.

The camera itself has a nice design and feels solid in my hands. It's not too heavy, making it easy to hold onto while driving or mounting it on your windshield. I was also impressed by the convenience of having a built-in screen, which allows me to review footage and adjust settings without having to rely on an external monitor.

However, I did notice that the camera doesn't have any power on its own - you need to plug it into a USB port in order to turn it on. This was a bit of a bummer at first, but I realized that this is actually a benefit - now I can charge it up quickly and easily before using it. And with the built-in screen, I can see exactly what's going on without having to rely on external displays.

One feature that caught my attention was the ability to record silent videos or full-on noise recordings, depending on your preference. This is super useful for situations where you want to capture every detail of an event - whether it's a road trip, a drive home from work, or even just a quick errand run. And with the microphone built right into the camera, I can ensure that my recordings are crystal clear.

Now, let's talk about the cables and mounting system. The manufacturer provided me with a super-long cable that's perfect for mounting the camera in your car permanently. If you're planning to use this in your daily commute, I highly recommend running the wires out of sight - maybe even behind your rearview mirror or lower down on the windshield. This will keep the camera looking sleek and uncluttered.

As a bonus, the manufacturer included a little extra touch with the long cable - it's actually super-long! This means that you can mount the camera in any location, without worrying about running out of wire length. And if you're feeling handy, you can even get this professionally installed by a pro.

For now, I'm planning to test out the camera and see how its video quality holds up against some of my other favorite cameras - including my trusty GoPro. Stay tuned for more updates and reviews as I put this little guy through its paces!

**Shoutouts**

Before I sign off, let's give a quick shoutout to all the people who support me on social media. To my Facebook squad, 4 Square crew, Twitter gangsters, Google+ enthusiasts - thanks for rocking with me! And to all my Instagram fans and Amazon War Sundays crew, keep reppin'!

Lastly, if you're feeling generous, throw some love in the comments below. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this camera and seeing how it compares to others out there.

that let's see what we got here okay USB the mini USB okay and you also get let's see this is HDMI to Mini HDMI so this way you can plug your camera in and connect it right to your TV or your computer monitor wherever you go so this is hot so now if you're using this camera for not say insurance purposes maybe just for racing and going crazy when you get to where you want to go take the camera out the car bring it right inside with you plug it right into the TV show Everybody the footage all right let's see okay so that's pretty much it now let's take a look at the camera itself a lot smaller than I thought okay now looking at the pictures online I thought this was going to be a big camera but it's actually very small very small matter of fact just for scale comparison here goes a Galaxy S6 Edge Plus okay so this is really really small this will fit perfect behind your rear view mirror if that's where you want to set it up at or if you want to set this up for front view that's something else I might use this for if you want to set this up facing you if you're one of those people that have a lot of police interactions and for your safety and the safety of the officers if you want to just have every interaction on videotape this is something good this is something good now me I got a lot of police interaction because I drive around in the middle of the night my car is super loud and my car's kind of fresh so I get I get stopped all the time so with something like this once you get stopped you let the officer know that this is being recorded and that might make them uh treat you a little different and might that might cause you to act a little different also so that's this is just a good little touch right here but you can also use this for insurance okay so let's see got a little screen protector on this nice tactile buttons here's your okay nice amount of buttons let's see got USB USB AV on the top let's see if we can open this up sitting there pretty good okay maybe I was doing it wrong okay there's your connections right there this is where you're going to put your micro SD card in okay you got a camera button that's you're going to take those still shots got your power button okay and this is your mini HDMI really nice though really nice looks like an actual camera in the front you also have a reset button okay tucked right in there this looks hot so let's see if we can fig figure out how to mount this probably just slaps right in here yeah cuz you see it now if you notice you got some pins in here so you want to line up these pins let's just see if we can slide this right in there slide it right in fellas all right so just like that we're going to slide that in like that now this let's see okay it does swivel a that's hot that's hot so now a lot of people going to set this up behind their rear viw mirror but I won't do that I'm going to set it up a little bit lower so this way I can have this right on swivel so I can be recording when I'm using it for insurance purposes or racing purposes whatever I'm doing and then when I do get some police interaction just switch it around right to the front and have everything on video so this is a hot little camera right here but most importantly we got to check out the picture quality so what I'm going to do is I'm going to I'm going to the gym in the next couple of hours what time is it it's still early all right so I got to wait I got to wait a little while I'm going to go to the gym probably like around 3:00 so I'll take some video when it's bright and sunny outside right now and then by the time I finish working out depending on how lazy I feel today it should already have um it should be dark outside already and um we'll take some video in the dark and we'll see how it performs all right so but just going on looks alone it does look it does look nice super small though deceptively small compared to the pictures online I thought it was going to be a lot bigger but this is the right size right here here all right this is a nice convenient size um can't power this on right now though because you have to plug in oh matter of fact I can power it on okay here we go let's see all right so it is on all right so we can take a oh but no battery it's about to turn off no power it says on the screen all right but it does it does have a nice picture to it all right well whatever we're going to have to charge this up a little bit before we play with the on screen buttons but that's not the most important part the most important part is the video quality okay that's the most important part we'll read the book we'll learn all the features and um I'll get back to y'all in a minute with some video footage all right so hit me up in the comments let me know what y'all think about this one by the time you see this video I'll I'll already have shot the video footage so you can comment on that too and we'll see how it looks compared to the GoPro and activon and some of these other cameras that we have cuz right now I'm basically using my GoPro for that feature but I'm having a little dash cam with a built-in screen on it that looks like it's even better and this is something that you can leave in your car now one thing I want to check real quick let's check the length of this cable let's see how long this is because if you're going to leave this in your car permanently okay yeah look at this now this is a super duper long cable right here s look how long this thing is that's perfect now if you're going to mount this in your car and leave it in there permanently you need this long cable right here cuz you don't want to just have this plugged in and have a big wire like this hanging from your your your windshield take your time if you want to get it professionally done I suggest that but if not just get just take your time run the wires somewhere out of the way so if worse come to worse you might only see this one little wire like this or in my car I have um I have a power source that's underneath my glove compartment so I can run this wire all the way along the top of my windshield down through the side passenger side door back you know back around through and have this plugged in underneath so this way you won't even see any wires so this extra long wire right here that they provided that's a nice little touch right there definitely feeling that anyway so stand by for the video test shout out to everybody that rock with me on Facebook 4 Square Twitter Google+ shout out to all the Google gangsters I see y holding look at the display no power but you have microphone on and off all right I've seen a few a few settings you do have a microphone so you can record silent videos or you can record with the full noise and you know I'm going to record with the mic on so you so we can demo the mic out nice looking suction though let's see how this is going to look when it's plugged in okay you're going to plug this in just like this and run these wires out of the way and this will be right behind your rear view mirror or a little bit lower if you like me put it a little bit lower this way you can swivel it all right you can swivel it around definitely feeling this oh yeah one more thing fellas ladies say it with me or Y haters or Y trolls close your eyes and picture me rolling it's your boy floss I'm out
