**Hands-On with the Samsung Galaxy S4**
I'm here to give you a first look at this brand new device, the Samsung Galaxy S4. The screen is quite bright and it's really nice to see that Samsung has taken the feedback from its previous model, the S3, into consideration. Let me also bring up the S3 and put both devices in auto screen brightness mode for comparison.
As we can see, the Android version of this device is 4.2.2, or Jelly Bean. It's clear that Samsung has made some modifications to the operating system, with a focus on user experience. We have tabs here and what looks like "More" about the device, which tells us that it has a model number of GTI-9,500.
One thing that stands out is the storage capacity - this device comes with 16GB of internal storage, but users can also expand their storage using a microSD card up to 64GB. Additionally, there are other storage options available, including 32 and 64GB models. Let's take a closer look at some of the pre-installed apps that come with the Galaxy S4.
We have Samsung-specific apps like ChatOn, Samsung App Store, and Samsung Link. There's also S Health, which is a new feature that we'll be exploring further in this review. We also have the Chrome web browser, as well as an older version of the Android web browser. Let's power on the web browser and quickly test its performance.
**Web Browser Testing**
As you can see, the number tray is still present, which is a nice touch. The web browser loads quickly, even for complex websites like Stick.com. Pinch-to-zoom functionality works smoothly, and we also have a quick and easy way to open YouTube videos embedded on web pages.
Let's maximize the volume and play back one of the videos from YouTube. As you can see, the speakerphone is pretty loud and the viewing angles are excellent - no issues with visibility at all. We also have a 13-megapixel camera shooter with tap-to-focus functionality, which means there's no shutter lag.
**Camera Testing**
Let's take a look at some of the pictures we took using this device. The flash did not fire for this particular photo, but it looks quite nice as is. Let's zoom in to get a closer look. I'll be testing the camera more extensively and will make a dedicated video review soon.
**General Impressions**
The phone itself feels comfortable to hold, with a similar design to the S3. However, we don't see any significant changes in terms of width - if you've used the S3 before, this device should feel very familiar. Let's take a look at some of the new features and guestures that Samsung has added to the Galaxy S4.
**Air Gestures**
One of the most interesting aspects of this device is its air gestures. We can see all sorts of toggles and options by swiping our hands through the air, which looks both intuitive and elegant. Let's open up the gallery and try out some of these guestures for ourselves.
As you can see, we have a lot more toggles at our disposal than before, including Smart Scroll, Etc. Samsung has really pushed the boundaries with its innovation this time around. I'll be creating a dedicated video review to explore all of these air gestures in detail, as well as do an unboxing for this device.
