The Future of Personal Robots: A Close Look at Tammy
As we explore the latest advancements in technology at IFA in Berlin, we have the opportunity to meet with a personal robot that is set to revolutionize the way we interact with each other and our surroundings. Meet Tammy, an Android tablet stream with a range of innovative features that make it a must-have for anyone looking to take their personal robot experience to the next level.
One of the standout features of Tammy is its ability to work like a telepresence robot. This means that users can not only video call with others, but also control the robot's movements and interactions in real-time. To demonstrate this feature, we can see how Tammy responds when asked about the weather. "Hey Timmy, what's the way there like?" the user asks, and Tammy displays a little display of the weather, providing users with up-to-date information on their surroundings.
But that's not all - Tammy also comes equipped with YouTube, allowing users to watch their favorite videos directly through the robot's screen. We can see this in action as the user plays Bob Marley, and the music starts to play on YouTube's screen. It's clear that Tammy is designed to be a fully immersive experience, with a range of features that make it feel like having a personal assistant at your beck and call.
Another innovative feature of Tammy is its ability to follow users around. This means that when you're having a video call with someone, you can simply tap on the top of Tammy's screen for it to locate you and lock in on your movements. We can see this in action as we walk around the stage, and Tammy follows us seamlessly. The robot is also equipped with a range of sensors that allow it to navigate obstacles and avoid bumping into things.
But what really sets Tammy apart is its ability to learn and adapt. Users can set up locations in their home, such as kitchens or dining rooms, and then send Tammy there using the app on the robot's screen. We see this in action as we tap on a point on the screen and send Tammy to that location. It's clear that Tammy is designed to be intelligent and responsive, with a range of features that make it feel like having a personal assistant at your side.
One of the most interesting aspects of Tammy is its proprietary voice assistant, which allows users to ask a wide range of questions and get responses in return. We see this in action as we ask Tammy about the weather, and it displays a little display of the information on its screen. The voice assistant is clearly designed to be intuitive and user-friendly, with a range of features that make it easy for anyone to use.
As we explore Tammy further, we also learn about its pricing and availability. The basic model of the robot will cost $1,500, while there is also a deluxe model available that upgrades the screen from Full HD to 4K and adds in some Harman Kardon speakers and gold trim. We're told that more voice assistant support is on the way, as well as additional apps and features, so it's clear that Tammy is just getting started.
Finally, we learn about Tammy's battery life and how it charges. The robot has a pretty big battery in it, which allows it to last for up to 8 hours of mixed use. But what's really clever is that the robot can take itself back to its charging station when it needs to recharge, so users don't have to worry about it running out of power. This means that Tammy can be used all day long without needing a break, making it perfect for busy professionals or anyone who wants to stay connected on the go.
In conclusion, Tammy is an innovative personal robot that is set to revolutionize the way we interact with each other and our surroundings. With its range of features, including telepresence capabilities, YouTube integration, and proprietary voice assistant, Tammy is designed to be a fully immersive experience that makes life easier and more convenient. Whether you're looking for a new assistant or just want to take your personal robot experience to the next level, Tammy is definitely worth considering.
