SPOOKATHON TBR!!

A Spooky Month of Reading: A Reader's Journey Through Five Challenging Books

As a self-proclaimed thriller enthusiast, I embarked on a reading journey this month to tackle five challenging books that would put my reading skills to the test. I started by choosing "The Stranger in the Woods" as my first thriller book, inspired by Kate Houlihan who told me it's a great mystery novel that blurs the lines between fact and fiction. With its unique blend of truth and imagination, this book promised to be an exciting read.

However, I soon realized that I had already read "A Stranger in the Woods" earlier, so I replaced it with another thriller titled "There's Someone Inside Your House". This book was a last-minute choice, but its eerie setting and thrilling plot made it an attractive option. As I delved into this book, I discovered that it was indeed a masterful blend of psychological suspense and horror, keeping me on the edge of my seat.

While choosing books for these challenges, I realized that some readers may find it challenging to narrow down their options. That's why I decided to focus on a few specific themes and criteria, ensuring that each book would be engaging and relevant to the challenge at hand. For instance, I chose "The Graveyard Book" by Neil Gaiman for my spooky-themed challenge, opting for the graphic novel version due to its unique illustrations.

For the challenge of reading a book based on a childhood fear, I again turned to Neil Gaiman, this time selecting "Coraline". This dark fantasy novel has been a staple in many readers' libraries for years, and its eerie atmosphere made it an obvious choice. With its small-town setting and themes of identity, family, and the supernatural, "Coraline" promised to be a thrilling read that would transport me to another world.

In addition to these themed challenges, I also decided to participate in two additional categories: books with orange on the cover and books set in spooky settings. For the former, I opted for "Coraline", which features an eye-catching orange cover that screams eerie and unsettling. As for the latter, I selected two graphic novels: "Through the Woods" by Emily Carroll and "There's Someone Inside Your House". Both of these books boast haunting illustrations that will leave readers on edge.

As I embarked on this reading journey, I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive about meeting my reading goals. However, with the help of these challenges, I was able to stay focused and motivated. By breaking down each challenge into smaller, manageable tasks, I was able to make steady progress throughout the month. And as I reflect on my reading journey, I realize that it's been an invaluable experience – one that has broadened my literary horizons and pushed me out of my comfort zone.

Throughout this journey, I encountered a mix of emotions – excitement, fear, and even unease. But each book, in its own unique way, contributed to the overall sense of tension and suspense that pervaded my reading experience. As I reflect on these five challenging books, I am reminded of the importance of stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing new experiences. For readers, this can mean exploring different genres, themes, or authors – all in an effort to broaden our literary horizons.

For those who might be considering joining a similar reading challenge, my advice would be to start small and focus on specific themes or categories. By doing so, you'll be able to stay focused and motivated throughout the journey. And don't be afraid to experiment with new genres or authors – after all, it's often the books we least expect that end up being our greatest surprises.

guys haven't seen my original October TBR pile shows a lot of thrillers to read this month so I just picked one of those so I pick for the spook asan is like she told by Kate Houlihan this is all about a writer that is ready for learning this is all been a writer who's writing a mystery solar book and her book is kind of becoming her Eri Lee's coming and coming her book it's like fact versus fiction which one it is and the line that blurs it explain it so many times either way it's definitely a thriller so I'm excited to read it because I've heard really good things about it so and this will be my thriller from the spook Assange and I would read the group book because there is a group book as a stranger in the house by sharing the pain yet but I already read the header in that September I listened the audio book for it so if I hadn't read it I would definitely be reading it because it is a good book but yeah I can't read the group book obviously because I read so thinking like she told the next challenge is to read a book with the spooky word in this how this could be anything that's out Sookie to you it could be like bone vampire murder blood anything you want I chose the graveyard book because what's creepy graveyards are creepy so I chose this one this is by Neil Gaiman this is actually the illustrated version or the graphic novel version and there are two lines - it's a commander II both during the read-a-thon because I feel like they're easy enough to read but yeah definitely spooky definitely that's challenge is to read a book based on a childhood fear and again for this one I'm going with the graveyard book because graveyards are creepy they scared me as a kid they scare me now I mean I'm not gonna kick her and take on that's fine nighttime no um as you can see I'm also doubling up for these challenges because like you said I'm just gonna try to read like a normal week not like really push myself intensely so yes these books count for two challenges so I'm missing it's challenge the next challenge is to read a book with orange on the cover and for this one I don't have it quite yet my library should be getting my copy really soon I'm hoping and that is Coraline by Neil Gaiman and has a large on the cover I really struggle with this one honestly like I looked on my shelf and I was like oh I don't know but this does have orange on it excited to read it I'm reading to Neil Gaiman books for this read-a-thon I'm excited because I've never read him before I've heard Coraline it's creepy as mess so maybe I can read this and also watch the movie but either right it's got orange on the cover set and the last challenge is to read a book and a spooky setting any of these could really do but I picked two from this challenge and the first one is through the woods bike emilycarol because woods are creepy it's definitely spooky setting for me this is another graphic novel it's got like five eerie stories in here I believe look at that so pretty big so I'm excited to read that and the other one I'm picking is there's someone inside of your house it's nuts thriller novel it's a why a thriller novel and definitely the spooky setting like someone being to tell your house that you don't want them inside your house so yeah I guess it boils down to I am counting the gray pure even though it's two volumes for this crap no I'm counting it as one because I'm just visioning it as one book so and honestly picked five books to read for this read-a-thon which is quite a stretch for me if I'm treating as a regular week I read seven books for the booktubeathon don't ask me how I don't know I'm still working for reading but this one I'm trying to be a little bit more realistic and three of these five are graphic novels which are really really easy to fly through super fast you can regrow from dolls within hours honestly and really technically I'm only reading to like actual full-length books so and they're both on the shorter side I are under 300 pages so I think it's gonna be a good week I thought I'm very very excited for it I've never participated in its focus on before so yeah excited to participate in it and forget all the spooky things and if you're participating in as well let me know what books you picked out for the research challenges and if you're not participating please do it's gonna be a fun time
