### **Introduction to the Mercedes AMG GTS**

The video begins by introducing the Mercedes-AMG GTS, highlighting its impressive power and unique features. This car is no ordinary vehicle; it boasts an impressive 500 horsepower, making it a true powerhouse on the track. The narrator mentions that this was a special car for Mercedes to bring to the track, emphasizing its capabilities and the attention to detail that went into its development.

One of the standout features mentioned is the presence of a professional driver who accompanied the narrator during the track experience. This added layer of expertise not only enhances safety but also provides valuable feedback on how to handle such a high-performance vehicle. The car is described as having "tons of electronic controls and nannies," referring to its advanced driving aids and safety systems. Interestingly, the car even has a button to make the exhaust louder, which was used for the track drive—adding to the overall excitement and performance-oriented experience.

### **Driving Techniques and Common Mistakes**

The video then delves into the driving techniques that are crucial when handling such a powerful machine. The narrator shares valuable insights about common mistakes drivers make when behind the wheel of a high-performance vehicle like the Mercedes AMG GTS.

One key point is that most people don't brake hard enough. The narrator emphasizes the importance of braking firmly and not being afraid to apply maximum pressure, especially when entering or exiting turns. This is critical for maintaining control and stability at high speeds. Another common mistake is turning in too early and applying power too soon. The narrator advises drivers to wait until they are exiting a turn before accelerating, allowing the car to reach its optimal speed.

The video also highlights the importance of using the brakes in a straight line rather than trail braking into turns. While experienced drivers may know that trail braking can be faster, the car's electronic systems are designed to prevent this for safety reasons. The narrator humorously mentions that attempting to trail brake in the car would likely result in being yelled at by the instructors.

### **Onboard Experience and Handling**

The narrator shares their personal experience of driving the Mercedes AMG GTS, describing it as both intimidating and exhilarating. Sitting next to a professional driver adds to the pressure, as one wants to avoid making mistakes that could compromise safety or performance. The car's advanced electronic systems and stability controls provide a sense of security, but they also require drivers to adapt to its unique characteristics.

One of the standout features of the car is its braking system. The brakes are described as "insane," providing immense power and stability even when pushed to the limit. The narrator admits that it took time to get comfortable with the car's handling, especially in high-speed situations. However, once they found their rhythm, the car's performance became more predictable and enjoyable.

The steering feel is another aspect that sets the Mercedes AMG GTS apart. The car is described as feeling stiff yet well-dampened, offering precise feedback while maintaining a smooth ride. This balance of stiffness and comfort makes it a joy to drive on both track and road.

### **Comparison with Other High-Performance Cars**

The video also touches on how the Mercedes AMG GTS compares to other high-performance vehicles, such as the Audi R8. While the R8 is no slouch in terms of performance, the narrator feels that the Mercedes AMG GTS offers a more refined and tuned driving experience. The car's handling, braking stability, and overall steering feel are praised as being top-notch, making it a standout in its class.

The narrator also mentions the car's automatic transmission, which is described as one of the best on the market. It shifts quickly and reacts efficiently to downshifts, providing an unparalleled level of performance. This attention to detail highlights Mercedes-AMG's commitment to creating a driving experience that is both powerful and refined.
