Video Games, Tomfoolery & Barnacules - PAX Prime 2015

**Exploring AAA Titles at PAX Prime 2015**

As I made my way through the crowds of excited gamers and industry professionals, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The area over here is where all the big hitters are showcased, with titles like Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Rainbow Six being displayed prominently. Ubisoft had an impressive booth, complete with a fancy statue that caught my eye.

Moving on to 2K Games, I was greeted by the familiar logo and branding of this beloved gaming franchise. Battleborn was on display, looking every bit as visually stunning as it did in gameplay trailers. The attention to detail on this game is evident, from the character models to the environments, making for a truly immersive experience.

Bethesda's booth was located in a different direction, showcasing some of their upcoming titles like Fallout 4 and Doom. While not all of the games were playable at the time of my visit, it was clear that Bethesda has a wealth of exciting content in store for fans.

In addition to these major players, I also had the opportunity to check out some smaller, independent titles. Bombshell, an action RPG developed by 3D Realms, caught my eye with its promise of fast-paced combat and exploration. The game's developers assured me that it would be available on Steam in the fall, although they did mention that Linux support might not be included at launch.

**A Conversation with Owen**

As I continued through the crowds, I stumbled upon a booth sponsored by The Curse Gaming Award, which offered a unique prize to attendees who made it to the end of the convention. Owen, the host of this award, was kind enough to chat with me about his experience working in the gaming industry.

"I'm all out of gum," he joked, "which means it's time to kick ass!" He welcomed me to the booth and introduced me to Steve and Deb, who were both eager to meet fans. I also had a chance to catch up with Rob, who assured me that he was there for just one reason: to showcase his impressive gaming skills.

**The Stormtrooper Suit**

One of the most interesting projects on display at PAX Prime 2015 was a fully functional Stormtrooper suit created by The Chicken Theater. This marvel of engineering was printed entirely on a desktop 3D printer, with each part carefully crafted and assembled to fit my body perfectly. The suit's creator, Steve, explained that this project was a collaboration between his team and My Mini Factory DCOM, who used advanced scanning technology to create a highly accurate model of my physique.

The result is nothing short of astonishing, with every detail from the helmet to the gloves carefully replicated in 3D. While it may not be the most practical or comfortable suit, it's clear that this project demonstrates the incredible capabilities of modern 3D printing technology. As I posed for photos with Steve and his team, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at what was possible when creativity and innovation came together.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys and welcome back to my PX Prime 2015 coverage of course I need to start off by thanking my sponsors Cooler Master and gigabyte for helping me travel all the way to Seattle Washington to bring you guys this coverage now my first video was all about the hardware but uh let's face it Pax is really all about video games for the most part so I'm going to share with you guys some of the video games that I encountered here now I can't necessarily say this is a all-encompassing example of all of the games here but these are the ones I ran across some of the ones I enjoyed and some of my experiences with them and also I'm going to throw in some Randomness and maybe some cosplay and that kind of thing so uh keep watching and hope you enjoy my coverage know no that's your last name what all right guys I'm over at the Indie Mega booth area uh we're checking out a game called Zing uh this is a first person uh puzzle puzzle kind of game it's very interesting I don't I don't know why but I'm getting kind of a Mist Vibe right off the right out of the gate here The Zing is uh being played here uh with just a keyboard and mouse but it's also uh available to play with an Oculus Rift you get a little VR in there okay so Zing is a puzzle Adventure game and Jenny's playing it right now on the Oculus so it does have Oculus support uh which is pretty sweet uh it being a puzzle Adventure game again kind of kind of reminds me a little bit of mist this is currently in it's not to Beta yet it's in pre-production yeah I I don't know if that means it's an alpha or somewhere between Alpha and beta it's uh they are shooting for a spring launch date so uh visually this game looks quite stunning uh I like the immersion that you get from the Oculus support and uh maybe we'll talk to Jenny here in just a second and see what she thought so guys just a round out for you what Zing's all about since uh Jenny Jenny wandered off without letting me get her opinion of it uh oh it's it's a puzzle Adventure puzzle game there are no enemies uh again this gives me sort of a Mist Vibe but in a much more Rich environment uh you have control over things like what day and uh you can control day and night you can control the weather use that to uh solve puzzles As you move through the world and uh it's just a beautiful looking game so uh we're excited to see this and again spring of next year is when they're planning on launching it guys I'm checking out a game at the Indie booth area called through the woods and I'm talking with Dan who's the sound designer from it so Dan uh can you give us just a high level explanation of the game and uh kind of what type of game it is and what what you do in the game yeah so it's a psychological horror game set in a forest in Norway where you play as a mother whose son's been kidnapped by a creature from nor mythology and has been dragged through the forest and your job is to try and find out is to follow their Trail and to find out why they were kidnapped uh sorry why he was kidnapped and and where he's been taken as well so very very lots of bright colors very bubbly game no this this is a suspense game there's a there's a sign over there that says so scary I wet my pants it's like Candy Crush this game just just like Candy Crush that's really what they're going for but um all right so you did sound design for this game how did how did you go about recording some of the audio for it so almost all the audio for this game so far has been recorded in a forest just outside of Oslo the forest called songs v which is a beautiful huge Forest um so all the audio has been taken for all the all the ambience and the trees the leaves all the footsteps a little bit of wildlife some birds and um foliage and such has all been taken uh with with a small field recording kit uh over a couple of day camping trip in uh in the forest there there's also along the way if you straight from the path you can find some journals and some um other kind of law from the island where this tells you the if if you find these things it tells you the reasons why the K is actually taken and who is the what the creature is that's taken the child and also there are some some Rune systems and some some uh Old Norse runes you can find carved into walls and rocks which if you translate them using um we have uh you you can either use Google Images to find the r translator or uh if you don't read runes yeah if you don't read runes exactly and we also have a little translator to wheel that we've designed that can also help you that tells the story of the island itself and the people that were on the island before they disappeared or yeah whatever happened to them all right so uh I've already been told looking at if you if you rush to the game it's about 3 hours we probably several more than that if you go into more depth and read all the journals and everything uh this is available on Steam so it's available for the PC uh also I believe Xbox and mac and that sort of thing but but none of none of you guys watching my channel care about that uh and then and then finally Dan if I oh is it Linux as well L and Linux too no no no I was saying Mac okay yeah Linux 2o uh and then Dan do you guys have uh any estimated release dates uh it's early next year so sometime between between March and April approximately all right beautiful March and April next year through the woods here's a look at interstellaria interstellaria yes this was a game that caught my eye because it reminded me of FTL or faster than light which is a game that I play uh both of these games have kind of an 8bit style and uh you're out in space in a spaceship uh this particular game interest to lar I launched a little bit over a month ago on Steam so it is available right now it cost about 10 bucks uh and in the game you command kind of a small Fleet of ships so it's not just one like an FTL also the combat is a little bit different uh than FTL in this game there there's a little bit more RTS elements it seem like not as much pausing uh there's actually a small Starfield that you uh can use to maneuver your ships around although there's lots of automated uh stuff in the game too so you can kind of take your ships and and tell they AI to take control of them you can also uh actually go in and equip each of the crew members on the ships with different gear and weapons uh and then you can also take the ships and like land them on planets in kind of a platformer Style part of the game and that's where you can go and then refuel and re resupply but the game's really all about like Interstellar trade and combat with other ships and kind of expanding your might across the universe that kind of thing I only tried it out briefly but it was definitely a lot of fun so uh check it out it's available on Steam right now so guys this area over here is they go crazy it's crazy with games these are all the triaa titles so you got like Assassin's Creed Syndicate over there you also have a Rainbow 6 got the Ubisoft Booth uh you have 2K right here in front of me uh which includes battleborn they have a pretty fancy like statue thing going on right there that's pretty fancy uh there's some other stuff too Bethesda is like over in that direction and uh there's other things in that direction and that is the conclusion of my coverage of the AAA titles at pack Prime thank you for watching next up I'm checking out a game called bombshell so guys bombshell is an action RPG it's based on the Unreal Engine 3 uh it's supposed to be coming out in the fall time period so about 3 months time and uh I got a chance to play this it was pretty badass you play an independent mercenary named shell AKA Mom shell um and and she's just a badass uh it's an RPG so there are leveling up elements that kind of thing multiple weapons to choose from uh the game has something of a force perspective but then we that we we only thought it was force perspective then we realized you can actually sort of adjust uh the camera angle although we didn't exactly know how to do that um some other really cool things uh were just that the the voice acting is kind of over the top and hilarious um you kind of start out trying to rescue the president from the White House and then aliens evade and then everything turns to after that apparently uh I notic a few little details like uh there's executions that you can do after you've sort of uh minimized an enemy's health and she'll go up and like shove a bomb in their mouth or something they made independent animations for all those they pretty cool um and then another cool thing was uh for instance I was able to jump into a t at one point and then just like hold down the right uh the right the right Mouse button goes into slow-mo mode and then you can just like level a bunch of aliens that's pretty sweet too anyway guys uh this is being developed by 3D Realms and uh they've done some excellent work in the past so check it out it's going to be available on Steam of course uh it's also coming out for Xbox uh Xbox one and PlayStation 4 um and then we we asked them about Linux report and they said maybe maybe in the future but uh in any case you can get it on Steam so keep your eye out this one uh the curse the curse gaming I'm all out of gum award which means um it's time to kick ass look guys it's Owen he's got a nice shirt on nice to meet you nice to meet you Paul look everyone it's Steve and Deb wave to the camera Steve and Deb that's a nice Wings spin the chicken theat the chicken theater at 3:30 you can watch me sweat profusely about 10 minutes you going to be able to get there quick Rob got this he's a professional there you go all right nice so I'll tell you guys a little bit about this this entire Stormtrooper suit was printed on a desktop 3D printer nothing something like a MakerBot or an altim maker or something that has a small 7 in X 7in build platform it was printed in quadrants you can kind of see if you look at the suit up close it was all glued together from many parts the helmet alone is eight separate 3D printed Parts but this was kind of a a project that I set out on with a company called my minifactory dcom to see if somebody on the other side of the planet just from a bunch of pictures I took of myself could 3D model a suit that was form fitting to my very sexy body as you can see here and they were very successful in doing that they took a series of about 200 pictures uh from around me above and below wearing very very tight clothing might I add in my neighbor's backyard it was it was H it was quite the experience for him uh but from those pictures they were able to create something called a scatter map and ultimately extrapolate a 3D model of my body and then they modeled this armor over that body literally cut it into segments and made holes for Pins that align the parts and every single thing you see here with exception to the visor was actually printed on on that printer and it's all assembled just using like a Garder system off a belt with some strapping and some velcro well everyone that wraps it up for PX Prime 2015 I have had a fantastic weekend all weekend and I hope you guys have enjoyed my coverage stay tuned for more of my regular content on Paul's Hardware and we'll see you all very very soonwhat's up guys and welcome back to my PX Prime 2015 coverage of course I need to start off by thanking my sponsors Cooler Master
