Samsung Galaxy S3 Coming In June With 2 GB of RAM (for Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon)

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is Set to Launch on All Four Major Carriers in the US

This year's Galaxy S3 is going to be launching on all four major carriers here in the US, which includes Verizon AT&T Sprint and T-Mobile. They announced today that the phone's going to be coming out on June 21st for both Sprint and T-Mobile. Verizon hasn't given us an official release date just yet, but they're already taking pre-orders so expected sooner rather than later. While we haven't heard from AT&T yet, we expect that to change in the near future and really expect them to follow suit with the other carriers launching it sometime in June.

The price for this year's Galaxy S3 has been announced by both Sprint and Verizon. The 16 GB version will be priced at $200 for the two-year contract, while the 32 GB version will cost $250. A $50 difference for just 16 gigs isn't that bad, though, considering how expensive it can get to upgrade from 16 to 32 GB on other phones.

This year's Galaxy S3 is actually very similar to the international version as far as the way it looks goes. The screen size is exactly the same, and you have the same capacitive buttons on the front, along with that same physical home button which was absent in US versions of the Galaxy before this. This is nice to see, especially since we haven't seen any physical home buttons in US versions of the Galaxy S s1, S2 or even the latest models.

There are some differences between the processor used for 4G LTE networks here in the states and those on international versions of the phone, though. Instead of using the more powerful OS 4 quad-core processor like in other countries, we're getting the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core instead. This isn't exactly a blowout compared to some of the processors being used by phones from other companies, but it's still a capable one that should be able to handle most tasks without any problems.

However, Samsung is making up for this lack of power with 2 GB of RAM, which is a welcome change over the international version's single GB. We know how much of a difference a little extra RAM can make when it comes to multitasking and running multiple apps at once. It definitely can't hurt, and it should help with performance in general.

The rest of the features on this year's Galaxy S3 are all the same as those found on international models, including an 8 megapixel camera on the back, a 1.9 megapixel camera on the front, and some nice features like SVO, S Beam, and Smart Stay. The latter technology can detect when you're looking at the screen and automatically turn it off if your face isn't in view.

All four models of the Galaxy S3 are expected to have a 2100 milliamp battery, with each carrier simply branding their version differently but otherwise having the same phone inside. This means there won't be any differences or controversies over which model is "better" than the others - they'll all be basically identical in terms of hardware and features.

Finally, for Canadian customers, it seems that this year's Galaxy S3 will also be available on multiple carriers as well, so no one will be left out. Two colors are set to be released: Pebble blue and marble white, just like the international version of the phone.
