hit it really hard so you can't like full force hit it with a hammer you can get because then that happens that's not that's not ideal you can actually see some PCB under there so I'm guessing it's not watertight anymore which is gonna be a bit of a problem for the next test considering that I think that I've kind of ruined it but let's actually open it up lights up yeah yeah so it handled that fairly well I mean it was off when I did it so it wouldn't have impacted the hard drive at all okay so now we're going for trial number two which hopefully is it's gonna be less traumatic for the laptop than the first one so I'm curious to see how it handles water while being powered on I'm just gonna place it in the sink run some water over it while it's running and see what happens and again I just kind of taped up the bit where the chassis was broken because that doesn't affect its ability to keep water out I just want to make it clear don't try this at home water and electronics together means death almost always so yeah this is this is a very ridiculous thing that no one should ever do
it seems like water doesn't do a huge amount to this laptop so that's pretty good so that means we can move on to Phase two of trial two I'm gonna switch it off now and then I'm actually gonna put it in some water and then freeze it into a block of ice so that we can see whether or not that actually helps the thermal performance of this laptop
here we have the laptop frozen into ice so let's try turn it on oh the power button the power button is actually frozen there we go have to use a screwdriver to start it but that is definitely a screen I've never seen on a laptop before so the laptop while frozen in a block of ice is actually starting up that's that's crazy it's pretty much immediately jumped to like 90 degrees being frozen let me just zoom out here being frozen in a block of ice isn't really helping the temperature as much the laptop has actually survived trial number two it actually dealt with it a lot better than it dealt with trial number one so I'm kind of leaving it over there you can see it just chillin over there
I'm leaving it there to thaw and then we're gonna try trial number three
so if you saw the random gaming an HD video where he actually puts one of these laptops through its paces he actually drove over it with a Land Rover now considering the fact that I don't live in the English countryside I don't own a Land Rover so the best next best option is trial by alleyway this is super weird to do it just kind of like fling a laptop in an alley like I kind of don't really want to do this but like that was very noisy it really makes quite an impact I think you're gonna be able to throw it off the building well I mean it did some damage like look on the corners yeah like it actually it really even just just that small little toss isn't gonna but let's see how
and with that we've actually done what about seven or eight flings of this laptop so let's have a look if it still works and then we're gonna leave it there because honestly at this point it's just gratuitous laptop throwing and you know how I feel about gratuitousness in in videos gratuity I don't know but creativity is like like a tip okay but so here it still works like start Windows normally that's actually pretty amazing this thing took a massive beating and honestly if you're like a professional in a work environment like the Toughbook is pretty tough so I'm not gonna go any further with it I feel bad for the laptop like it suffered a lot of abuse it can now retire in peace not being flung around in an alleyway anyway with that it brings us to the end of the video thank you very much for watching if you liked it do share it with your friends that enjoy watching laptops being destroyed subscribe to the channel follow me on Instagram and Twitter anyway with that thank you very much for watching bye
WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enas somebody that does videos about tech stuff on the Internet I'm always browsing my local Craigslist for new and interesting things to do videos on and for some reason these Panasonic Toughbook SAR really popular in my area I don't know I I guess Vancouverites are really violent with their PC gear but there seems to be a big market for it so I decided to buy one to see how tough it really is now what we're gonna do in today's video is we're gonna do a quick unboxing of it and then we're gonna see if we can actually run some games on this panasonic toughbook and then after that we're gonna put it through some pretty hectic trials the first one is going to be trial by hammer but before that let's do a quick unboxing and here we have the box that it came in it's a refurbished unit the version that I have that I got is supposedly the cf-19 and it's got an i-5 540 M in it which is a very very old CPU but it's not the internals that count it's what you can do to it that's the most important part it's packaged fairly well actually which is quite surprising I was kind of thinking they were just kind of like throw it out of a helicopter at me because of how rugged this thing supposedly is now this one is supposedly refurbished but even through the bag I can tell that it's not in the best condition like this this has had a long tough life already look at all these scratches but this is very chunky it's it's quite weird because it's like a small but massive laptop if that makes any sense it's got a nice little clasp there which holds it in place and then you can kind of open it like that and there ya go wow it's really beat up it's even got like marks on the screen and stuff that's quite cool though that it's got this flexible hinge but is still supposedly really powerful I mean you know it kind of it kind of feels fairly sturdy even though it's it's it's it's a hinge like that but now the thing that I'm really curious to see here is okay I think you turn it on here whether or not there's actually battery involved and included oh it turns on that's very exciting so it's got a terrible display I can already tell that comes with Windows 7 installed that's quite exciting for some people but I mean let's put it down in its tablet position so we can be all fancy do you think do you think aesthetically this this compares to an iPad like I think I think this is as much of fashion accessory as an iPad is okay so I'm gonna plug this little guy in we're gonna turn it on and we're gonna see if we can actually play some games on it I really like the the bare exposed screws in the in the chassis it makes it feel so manly I don't know I actually I actually quite like this laptop because it just is such a beefy thing and I think that this keyboard is gonna be absolute hell game with the keys you really have to like it kind of makes you feel like you're an old person using a laptop because you really have to like force the keys for them to register that this laptop is unbelievably slow let's say that this laptop is running very very hot like the body gets exceptionally hot so I actually want to do like a stress test on it to see what kind of temperatures we're getting okay so half life does does kind of seem to run here so we've got the native resolution of 1024 by 768 let's see what settings our default to a combination of medium and high that's not too bad but we're actually getting 54 we're getting about 60 frames per second here and we've got a frame drop there but okay that's embarrassing I just went back into the font it's actually try and crank the settings a bit oh yeah even better graphics oh yeah so we're getting about 50/50 fps I think what I'm gonna do next we know that we can game on it a little bit now so let's launch something like either 64 and see how hot this thing actually gets it immediately goes up to almost a hundred degrees on the CPU and we've already got we've already gotten the throttling here now considering the fact that this laptop does run very hot and it is actually water-resistant I think trial number two is gonna involve some ice and now to make a joke that hasn't been funny for five years but let's see whether or not this laptop can actually run Crysis so I guess the short answer to that question is no now after undoing what seems like all the screws in the world I think I've got all the screws that keep this back panel on although that's actually fewer screws than a founders edition videographic Scott has in them but you know that's that's besides the point so let's see if we can kind of get this plate off oh so these clips are actually attached to it oh that's quite cool but yeah it looks like a fairly standard laptop under here so this is the hard drive there is a little bit of bracing in there but it's not a huge amount and then it's got its Wi-Fi Wi-Fi card over here it's an intel card but it does actually have space for another Wi-Fi card it's quite interesting um over here it's got like a modem card it's got this port on it which I don't actually know what that is I've seen it on laptops before let me know in the comment section below what you do with that and then over here this is just the actual back panel it's it's it's a fairly sturdy plastic but it's not the strongest thing I've ever seen what is quite cool about it is it does have this kind of like gasket running around the edge so that's the kind of help make it watertight okay so this is probably the part of the video why you're all here to see me try and destroy this thing this feels really weird like do I just hit it I mean do I just pop it with a hammer like yeah I think I'm just gonna kind of wow that felt really weird to do it it dented it kind of didn't seem to handle that very well do I it feels so weird do I just like hit it again oh well it's it's it's broken well I really I really wasn't expecting it to break that quickly that was it's like the second time I hit it with a hammer I don't know what I was expecting to be honest but I'm gonna hit the back it really it kind of feels like I'm abusing something here but it's oh yeah the back is that that can take up more of a wallop yeah see that's kind of but again it can take a decent hit like that but the moment that you really start to go at it like it just gives up like that it takes no problem okay so it handled that beating a lot better that was the first time that I hit it really hard so you can't like full force hit it with a hammer you can get because then then then that happens that's not that's not ideal you can actually see some PCB under there so I'm guessing it's not watertight anymore which is gonna be a bit of a problem for the next test considering that I think that I've kind of ruined it but let's actually open it up lights up yeah yeah so it handled that fairly well I mean it was off when I did it so it wouldn't have impacted the hard drive at all okay so now we're going for trial number two which hopefully is it's gonna be less traumatic for the laptop than the first one so I'm curious to see how it handles water while being powered on so I'm just gonna place it in the sink run some water over it while it's running and see what happens and again I just kind of taped up the bit where the chassis was broken because that doesn't it's not the laptops fault that there's a hole in it there so that doesn't affect its ability to keep water out I just want to make it clear don't try this at home water and electronics together means death almost always so yeah this is this is a very ridiculous thing that no one should ever do it seems like water doesn't do a huge amount to this laptop so that's pretty good so that means we can move on to Phase two of
