only check out those popular RGB gaming keyboards and while yes this is a gaming Tech Channel those are pretty popular amongst my audience I'll say I've definitely checked out my fair share of Enthusiast keyboards as well over the past year or so and that's where the vortex core keyboard comes into play something I would definitely categorize as Enthusiast grade for the makeing to the popular poker brand this 47 key mechanical keyboard is really unique and compact in fact at less than 10 in long and 3 in wide this might be one of the smallest keyboards I've come across so what's different about it and why does something like this even exist let's check it out taking a look at it an obvious smaller footprint does mean that you're going to be losing some dedicated keys but don't worry they're all still here kind of just Bunch with different functions with these PBT DSA profile key caps the keys aren't going to be angled downward or anything like I was used to it's all flat but colorcoded by red and blue font on the front side of the keys you can switch your keyboard layers as well with four layers to pick from it's going to give you that added flexibility here's what I mean say you want to reprogram your keyboard that can be easily done your standard profile is labeled as layer zero but by picking you know layer one or three pressing the function and right control is going to give you access to the reprogramming mode you can pick what kind of key you want to change or what you want it to be then you're all done it can be as simple as reassigning one key or a set of macros or letters in fact 32 keys are supported as a single keystroke and an LED light will let you know when you're good to go and then it's just a matter of switching your layers there's four to pick from like I said you just press function in l0 through L3 to pick there's a little LED light to represent what layer you're on under the space bar a red LED light is going to be Layer Two a green light is layer three and a blue light will be layer four so honestly what more can you ask for when it comes to something like this you're getting that small form factor only 47 keys but the keyboard lets you reprogram everything so you can head certain layers all in this tiny keyboard now underneath a key is going to expose your key switch and in this model I have some cherry Blues to satisfy those that love that clicky tactile response and here's where you would typically find your LED lights as well if you were to pick up an LED backlit model this one does not have that but it's cool you have the choice to begin with here is going to be a sound test you canar hear how the Blue switches sound so lastly to wrap this one up for being small The Vortex still packs a punch and it's very solid it's constructed of the CNC aluminum casing so you're not going to have to worry about it sliding around on your desk it'll definitely stay put but there's something nice and re assuring but having a keyboard that is this small but still so solid to the point where it's not going to feel like it's a cheap toy the core connects via a micro USB cable and honestly guys that's about it there's no unnecessary keys or anything else you might find on a different keyboard and since this is going to appeal to a very small Niche audience that's all people are going to come to expect there's no BS just a nice compact keyboard for enthusiasts to enjoy and honestly after my time using this my only complaint is going to be the color of the key caps here they're like this sandstone and khaki color combo I'm not the biggest fan of that I'm someone who would prefer a white and black color combination or like a nice white and gray but that's just me and I'm sure that the Enthusiast at this keyboard is going to appeal to probably find that color combo you know kind of classy and nice it's going to kind of match that noctua color combo if you know what I mean but I don't think a key the the key cap color is going to be deterring anybody or turning anybody away from buying a keyboard is in the end I did want to point that out but honestly for around 120 bucks which is retails
