Logitech's MX Ink Mixed Reality Stylus Is Like a 3D Apple Pencil for Meta Quest Artists
The Meta Quest Stylus: Logitech's Latest Innovation
Logitech has recently announced its new stylus, the MX Inc, which is specifically designed for use with Meta Quest headsets. The device was demoed by the reviewer and will be available for purchase this fall. The MX Inc is seen as a kind of "dream" product for VR headsets, similar to Apple's Pencil, but without the exclusivity to Apple products.
The MX Inc is a wireless stylus that connects to Meta Quest headsets, including the Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro, as well as future releases. The device features full position tracking, SixDoF (six degrees of freedom) off-stylus tracking, haptics, and pressure sensitivity. This makes it an ideal tool for creators who want to take advantage of the Meta Quest's capabilities.
One of the standout features of the MX Inc is its ability to work in mixed reality. The reviewer demonstrated how the device can be used to draw on 2D and 3D surfaces, including objects in real-life environments through the use of pass-through cameras. This allows users to create a virtual representation of their surroundings while sketching around them.
The MX Inc also features haptic feedback, which provides a more tactile experience for artists. The device has a variety of buttons on its side that serve as shortcuts to pulling up menus and beginning the drawing process in space. These features make the MX Inc an intuitive tool for users who want to create art in VR.
One of the reviewer's favorite things about the MX Inc is how easily it can be used with hand tracking or another Quest controller in the hand to pull up menus while working on a project. This setup provides the ideal combination of portability and functionality, making it easy to use the device on the go.
The Logitech MX Inc is priced at $130, which is comparable to Apple's Pencil prices for similar devices. The reviewer notes that this price point makes the MX Inc an excellent value, especially considering its compatibility with a wide range of Meta Quest headsets and its potential for future use in mixed reality applications.
It's worth noting that Logitech has previously released air styluses, but those were designed for PC headsets and had more setup requirements. The MX Inc is specifically designed to work with the Meta Quest, making it a more portable and user-friendly option.
The reviewer is excited about the MX Inc because it represents one of the first true compatible extra accessories for Meta Quest hardware. With this device, users can unlock new creative possibilities in VR without having to rely on third-party software or complicated setup processes.
Moreover, Logitech's open policy allows them to partner with other hardware developers and OEMs to create compatible headsets that run Meta's software. This type of partnership could lead to a wide range of innovative peripherals and accessories for the Meta Quest, further expanding its capabilities and user base.
The MX Inc is seen as a pioneering device in this space, marking the beginning of what promises to be an exciting future for VR peripherals and accessories. With its impressive feature set, competitive pricing, and compatibility with a wide range of Meta Quest headsets, it's clear that Logitech has created something truly special with this new stylus.

dream apple pencil product for VR headsets that doesn't exist for Apple products but it certainly exists if you've got a meta Quest the Logitech MX Inc is a $130 stylus that wirelessly connects to the quest headsets any Quest headset that you've got Quest 2 Quest 3 Quest Pro and whatever meta has coming out in the future and work is a full position trackable Sixt off stylus that also has haptics and pressure sensitivity so already on meta's Quest headsets there's a lot of art apps shapes XR uh gravity sketch a lot of different things that are out there and if you're a Creator you could create 3D models using the controllers right now that's cool but the MX Inc is a dedicated device for drawing on 2D and also 3D surfaces and it's also meant to work in mixed reality so some of the demos I saw are not just about drawing in VR but drawing floating using the pass through cameras so you could actually look at an object and Trace its outline in 3D space and sketch around it and enhance it and then hey you're designing an nxr I feel like I've made like a little diarama for myself it's like it's very interesting to like use this in this space like it reminds me of creating VR art but but with a much more tactile feedback and point the Logitech MX Inc has haptic feedback and a variety of buttons on on the side that are shortcuts to pulling up menus and to tap and hold to begin the drawing process in space it felt very intuitive and you can also use it combined with hand tracking or with another uh Quest controller in your hand to pull up menus while also working on that that's kind of like the ideal setup I tried it with shapes XR which is one of the compatible apps I'm going to pick a different color and do like a I don't even know what I'm drawing in there not only do I want the Apple pen in the future will work like that but at $130 this is basically an apple pencil price uh for buying as a quest accessory Logitech had done one of these air styluses in the past but that one was meant for PC headsets it had a lot more setup requirements I mean you needed a PC that was VR compatible this working with a quest means that it's super portable it's something you could use to create art on the Fly it's coming out in the holiday which seems like it would be a great gift I'd like to use it more but I'm really excited about this peripheral because it's one of the first that meta has signed off on to become a truly compatible extra accessory for Quest Hardware met is also expanding to other Hardware Partners to make other headsets from other developers uh from oems
