Studio in a Backpack

Kindness and CES: A Behind-the-Scenes Look

Hey there, guys! It's Keaton here at CES, and I'm super excited to be sharing this behind-the-scenes look at what I've brought along for the show. As I'm currently filming on the back porch of our temporary home – which is essentially a house with multiple pools – I thought it'd be a great opportunity to give you guys a sneak peek into my gear.

I'm using my trusty SOOT's Electropack backpack, which has been my go-to for years. The blue and yellow colors are my favorite, so it was a natural fit. The camera you're seeing this shot on is the Canon 5D Mark III, which Matt really wanted, so I'm hoping it'll look great. My personal camera is the Canon 70D with an L lens on it, and I've also got the Road Video Mic Pro, a JOBY pod, and a battery grip to ensure we get high-quality video.

Inside the backpack, we have a basic battery pack that's 20,000 milliamps – essential for any show, as you can't get a signal and devices constantly use battery. This is a must-have for anyone who wants to stay connected and productive on the go. Next up is our trusty Logitech MX Performance Mouse, which I've had for five years now; it's practically like having a brother at this point.

We also have an iPhone dock, which I'm not too fond of the standard lightning cord – I prefer something more versatile. The Kingston SD card reader is another must-have, as we're shooting with the Canon 5D Mark III and need to be able to read compact flashes, normal SD cards, and micro SD cards.

Here's where things get really interesting. Inside the backpack, I've bought a bunch of batteries for both my Canon 5D Mark III and my 70D cameras – they all take the same LPL8 battery or LPE8 battery. Yes, you read that right – I bought 18 of these batteries just because I don't want to worry about when the camera dies. A multi-purpose charger is another essential item for traveling and navigating CES without outlets everywhere.

Now, rounding out our gear are some personal items that make this setup truly special. My trusty 2013 Retina Mac-book Pro is maxed out with specs and perfect for video editing – I've had it for quite a bit now, and you'll get to see any video from the show through it. I've also started using the BaronFig Notebook to write down every single video, which helps me memorize better, jot down notes, and keep track of my points.

Finally, we have a wall charger that's essential for this show – and one of the newest additions to my collection is the Boosted Board. This dual motor 1500-watt e-scooter is a game-changer; it goes 23 miles an hour and is a must-have for anyone who wants to experience CES like I am today. That's pretty much it for this video – if you guys enjoyed it, please drop a like and subscribe if you haven't already. Follow me on Snapchat and Twitter as well, where I'll be posting updates from the show.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- Hey, what's good, guys?Keaton, here.So I'm at CES, I'm super excited. This is the first time not staying in a hotel. What's up with the bird over there? So I'm going to be showing you guys what Ibrought to CES and we're currently filmingon the back porch. It's not just a porch. It could literally be a house. There's enough pool here to have a SpringBreak party, so you've got multiple pools, they definitely shoot some movies here ifyou catch my drift.I'm going to be showing you guys what I broughtto CES because I'm going to be shooting alot of video here.If you guys want to check out any of thesethings, links are in the description below, but the backpack that I'm using, and thisis the backpack I've been using forever, it'sthe SOOT's Electropack.I love this thing and blue and yellow aremy favorite colors so it naturally works. The camera you're seeing this shot on is theCanon 5D Mark III, it's like the newest thingin the collection.Matt really likes it, he's the one who wantedit, so hopefully it looks good. Now, my personal camera is the Canon 70D withan L lens on here. The Road Video Mic Pro, and then you havea JOBY pod and a battery grip. This is really good because you're going toget nice, good-looking video, especially whenwe're doing behind the scenes stuff, whichis kind of what we're going to doing hereat CES.All right, so actually getting into the backpack,we're going to unzipper here.We just have a basic battery pack, so thisis 20,000 milliamps. You're going to definitely need this if yougo to any show, because you can't really geta signal and it is constantly using battery,so this is a must. Then we got our trusty Logitech MX PerformanceMouse.I mean, I've had this thing for like fiveyears. It's practically a brother at this point. All right, what else we got?Got our iPhone dock.I'm not a big fan of just the standard lightningcord.I like to be able to dock my phone, and thisis really versatile in case I travel.Just kind of perfect because I can just propit up and it's not really a big deal.Next I got the Kingston SD card reader, sothis is really important now that we are shootingwith the Canon 5D Mark III.It takes compact flash.Who knew compact flashes still existed? This can read that and it can read normalSD cards and even micro SD, so definitelya must for this show in particular. All right, here's where it really gets interesting. In here I bought a bunch of batteries forboth the Canon 5D Mark III and then my 70Dbecause they all take the same, I think it'slike LPL8 battery.Correct me if I'm wrong. It could be LPE8, but I'm not going to showyou all of them, but let's just say I bought18 of these batteries just because I don'twake up for when the camera dies.If the camera is dying I'm probably not goingto be there.Probably one of my favorite things in thisbag is the multi-purpose charger, that's literallywhat it is.This is essential for traveling and kind ofjust makes it good at CES because there'snot outlets everywhere, so you just plug thisin. It's a super long cable. You have four USB ports and you have one wallsocket.Rounding us out as that almost fell in thepool, ruh-roh, that could have been bad newsthere, and for kind of what makes all thistick besides having a camera, it is my 2013Retina Mac-book Pro.Honestly I could have just dropped it in thepool there, like that would have been realbad news.I'd have jumped in, gotten wet, and it's kindof cold out. This is maxed out with specs, this is perfectvideo editing.I've had this for quite a bit and that's howyou're going to see any video from this showso that and then I have something that I'mreally starting to get into, it is the BaronFig Notebook. So I'm starting to write every single videodown, just because it helps me memorize better, just what I want to say and just kind of pointsand stuff like that, and really the last thingin the bag here is a wall charger. In past years I had these really complex gearvideos, but I just kind of wanted to keepit simple, because CES is huge, you know I'mgetting real old, I'm 18, I'm on my way out,and I just kind of want to keep it light andnot have to go to a therapist for my back. The last thing that is essential for thisshow, and one of the newest editions of mycollection is ... Thank you, noble steed, housemaid, I'm just kidding I love you. He's one of my friends. He's our friend. Is a boosted board. This is a dual motor 1500 watt, the cremede la creme, like if you're not getting thisline, why even waste your money? This goes 23 miles an hour.It is essential.Everyone here really loves it.That's pretty much it for this video. If you guys enjoyed it, drop a like on it,and go and subscribe if you haven't already. This CES is definitely going to be one wewon't forget with this porn house set we areliterally staying in.Go ahead and follow me on Snapchat and Twitteras I'm going to be posting what they broughtto CES, Matt and Will and Skunk, who literallylives out of a backpack, Thanks again forwatching and I'll see you guys next time.Peace.All right, good shoot everyone.\n"
