This Laser is SO FAST! Demoing the xTool D1 Pro 20 Watt Diode Laser

I Have No Fluids to Clinkies with But Chin Chin and...

As I'm working on this project, I have to admit that it's been a bit of a challenge. The plywood is being stubborn, and I'm having to cut out some of these pieces by hand. I've always hated working with plywood, but I know it's necessary for this project. So, I'm just going to have to suck it up and deal with it.

I do have one trick up my sleeve, though - a little bit of Starbond medium CA glue. I use CA glue for all sorts of laser projects, and I've been affiliated with these guys for a long time. If you don't have CA glue, I highly recommend checking out some Starbot and CA glue. It's not necessary to use a ton, just enough to get the edges just right. And if I do happen to get a little too much on my piece, I can always hide it with a finish.

Okay, so let's take a look at these pieces that have finished drying. As you can see, they look pretty much identical. You might notice a bit more burn on one of them, but that could be due to something in the wood or just a quirk of the process. All in all, they're almost identical.

Now, let's talk about the math behind this project. I rounded up my times for demonstration purposes, but I'm sure you guys want to know the exact numbers. So, if you're interested, here are the details: the D1 10Watt laser did its carve in 35 minutes, while the D1 Pro 20Watt laser did the same job in just 16 minutes. That's why I love this machine - it's so efficient and fast!

Now, on to more exciting news... I'm running a contest! To enter, simply comment down below with what you'd most like to do with your new D1 Pro XL. We'll randomly pick three comments, and the winners will be announced live on September 2nd at noon on our channel. That's right, folks - it's going to be a live stream, and we want to see all of your excited faces tuning in. Don't forget to use promo code "BEEN" for 10% off your purchase of the D1 Pro XL during the back-to-school sale.

One more thing before I get started with the project again - my Ring doorbell keeps thinking I'm my 10-year-old brother, Benson. It's hilarious and a bit annoying at the same time. Apparently, it mistakes me for him because we're both extroverts. Who knew that would be an issue?

Okay, so now that I've got all of that out of the way... let's get back to work! Time to finish this project and show you guys what I'm made of.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys i'm nick and this is build dab build and this one goes up to 11. actually this one goes up to 20. that's right guys today we're talking about my new favorite laser the x tool d1 pro 20 watt in race car red baby what i really want to talk about is the speed of this new unit and why you really want to go with the 20 watt module if you can afford it but before we talk about why you need this new laser in your life let's talk about giving one away actually you know what let's talk about giving three away that's right guys xtool and i and well pinhead have decided to give away three x tool d1 pros we will be giving away two of the 10 watt variety and one of the 20 watt flavor if you will so stick around till the end of the video to find out how to enter to win your very own xtool d1 pro so first let's talk a little bit about the different flavors or size modules for the d1 pro you've got your five watt laser if you do a lot of engraving on leather if you want to do logo design and photo prints d1 pro 5 watt is probably all you need the 10 watt variety is probably more your speed if you want to cut things like up to 6 millimeter basswood if you want to do some prototyping or you're cutting templates it's really good for that it will also do everything the 5 watt will now the 20 watt is going gonna be more your jam if you're consistently cutting very thick material if you're consistently cutting six mil wood or like five millimeter acrylic you're also going to notice a speed increase when you're doing any sort of engraving because of the power of the module now personal preference i like the 20 watt and i know you guys are like hey hey it's the biggest it's the baddest of course you like it nick yes but also no i did a live stream where i was running the old 20 watt the 20 watt that was on the d1 and i was under the impression it was a little underwhelming for all the hype it was getting at first and if i can remember which live stream it was i will i'll i'll put a card up here for it i was in the process of telling people on the live stream to just not upgrade to the 20 watt version yet and then it proved me wrong and i've actually made a video on showing how much faster the 20 watt unit is using the indelible white tile method i'll link that up here as well but these two guys look pretty good right similar this one was done with the 10 watt and it ran it at 2700 millimeters per minute at 65 percent power this one is the 20 watt i ran that at 6 000 millimeters per minute at 60 power so this one ran in almost half the time of this one the reason that's a big deal is because if you're trying to use this for any sort of production machine so you're actually trying to run a business side business side hustle for that matter time is money and so if you can run something twice as fast you probably want that extra power just for that we're gonna demonstrate that again today we're gonna take the 20 watt d1 pro versus the 10 watt d1 and we're going to do the exact same project and we're just going to time them out and see how much time we save using the 20 watt and since it's august you know this is going to be halloween themed right and settings we're going to use i'm just telling you right now uh i will put a link down below to xtools recommended settings and you can go there for a jumping off point but they do have a whole page dedicated to this looks like this i don't know how well you can see that but if you scroll up to the top you can go x tool d1 if you've got the laser box xtool d1 pro x2 m1 and then if you look down here it actually has the different modules listed out and the settings for it okay so we're gonna start there all right to give these a little bit more of a halloween vibe i'm just going to spray paint these orange i'm just using rust-oleum real orange two times two for the masses all right guys while that's meandering along behind me i just wanted to say thanks for sticking around till this point in the video if you like this video hit that like button if you haven't subscribed please consider subscribing and as always an extra special thanks goes out to all of my patrons these guys are the tits especially my top tier or boilermaker patron steven mann eric weiss derek coates chuck faulkner puffy muffins andy the viking todd stewart paul christensen jason ayers reed means cody the adirondack wood guy and tina i have no fluids whatsoever to clinkies you with but chin chin and if you guys haven't checked out my patreon channel i'll put the link down below it's a great way to support the channel go check it out join up if that's your thing now what's going on with this thing even slowing it down and doing two passes you still get some of these that you gotta kind of cut out yourself and i mean i think that's just the plywood that's why i hate working with plywood but i'm just gonna have to kind of work those out oh no my jaw hit the floor see all right guys so when i'm assembling these what i use is just a little bit of starbond medium ca glue i use ca glue for a lot of different laser projects i also use it when i break a little bit of a laser project and i've been affiliates with these guys for a long time i'll link them down below uh you get 15 off your order if you don't have ca glue i highly recommend checking out some starbot and ca glue and you don't really need a ton i like to try to get the edges just so nothing gets too crazy on me but then other than that i just kind of dab it around a little bit dabbing it that's what the kids say dabbing it and the reason i like the medium is because it gives you a second to kind of work with it but if you get a little bit on your piece when you hit it with a little finish you can hide it so all right i'm just gonna let that guy sit there for a second okay and then once that guy has kind of done its thing and solidified to a certain degree again i just try to get edges edges you just don't want this little stuff to peel up too much but you also don't want to have a bunch of squeeze out so i almost always have some squeeze out guys so well that guy is doing its thing come down here and do the jaw and these guys go in there okay so now we got a little finish on let's take a look as you can see they look pretty much identical right you might get a little bit more burn over here but that could have just been you know something in the wood something like that but all in all these look almost identical but let's check out the math here so um i just kind of rounded these up because when i checked the tape i probably stopped the timers a little after the laser actually stopped so i just rounded everything up to kind of give us an idea i'm showing the d1 10 watt did its carve in 35 minutes the d1 pro 20 watt did that same carve in 16 minutes so half the time that is why i'm such a big fan of this guy all right guys but you know you tell me do you want to spend more time working on your project let me know in the comments down below oh yes there is the matter of the contest kids let me regale you with what needs to happen after i find my apple pencil because that's just like really expensive i will post all the contest rules down below but the main thing you guys need to know well first of all they are having a back to school sale right now we will announce it in a live stream friday september 2nd second at let's go noon nooner baby okay so the winners will be announced september 2nd at noon on a live stream be there be square do do your thing be whatever shape you want so you got to do make sure to check out their back to school sales they usually have really good deals that runs through the 31st and my promo code is actually been bumped up to 10 through september 10th so i will put that down in the little thingy here um and down in the description if you want to purchase something for yourself now thanks for playing and i gotta get to work stop stop it bothers me that my ring doorbell when it sees me walk by it mistakes me for my brother who's ten years older than i am about now benson and extroverts run the show they are going to pick three condoms not condomswhat's up guys i'm nick and this is build dab build and this one goes up to 11. actually this one goes up to 20. that's right guys today we're
