How to Grill Steak and Onions _ Recipe

Welcome to the Barbecue Pit Boo.com: A Guide to Delicious Steak and Onions on the Grill

Welcome to the Barbecue Pit Boo.com, where today we're going to do something that's easy, yet always impressive - steak and onions on the grill. It's a classic combination that never goes out of style, and with the right techniques, you can achieve a mouth-watering dish that will make your taste buds dance.

First Things First: Choosing Your Cut of Steak

When it comes to choosing your cut of steak, there are many options available. For this recipe, we're using a strip steak, also known as the New York strip. You can see the bone in there, which is actually the side where they cut the tendal loin out. This kind of steak works well on this recipe because it's got a good balance of flavor and tenderness.

Now that we have our steak, let's talk about the onions. We're using three onions for this recipe, and we want to slice them fairly thin, so they cook evenly. We'll separate them into rings, making sure they're all roughly the same size. This will help them cook at the same rate, ensuring a consistent flavor.

Preparation is Key

The first step in preparing our onions is to add some garlic to the pan. Now, I know what you're thinking - "Garlic? Really?" But trust me, it makes all the difference. We'll add about half a teaspoon of garlic and get it on the fire. Next, we want to add 2 tablespoons of butter. There's nothing like onions and butter together - it's a match made in heaven!

Now that our garlic is cooking and our butter is melted, it's time to cook down the onions. We'll let them cook until they're translucent, still firm, and just starting to caramelize. This is when we add a couple of tablespoons of brown sugar. The smell of this mixture is incredible - it's like a symphony of flavors!

Cooking the Onions

Once our onions are cooked down, we'll pull them off the hot coals and keep them warm. Now it's time to get the steaks on the grill! We want to make sure they're nice and hot, because that's when you get the best sear. Depending on how large your steaks are and how hot your fire is, you'll need to adjust the cooking time accordingly.

Trimming Off Excess Fat

Before we add the steaks to the grill, I like to trim off a little excess fat. This might seem like a waste of time, but trust me, it makes all the difference in terms of flavor and texture. We want to keep the fat on, because that's what gives our steak its nice, rich flavor.

Seasoning the Steaks

Now that we have our steaks, let's sprinkle some coarse salt and black pepper on both sides. This is where the magic happens - it brings out all the flavors in the steak and adds a nice crunch to the outside.

Grilling the Steaks

With our steaks seasoned and ready to go, it's time to throw them on the grill! We want to sear them quickly, because that's when you get the best flavor. Depending on how large your steaks are and how hot your fire is, we'll adjust the cooking time accordingly.

Finishing Touches

Once our steaks are cooked to perfection, I like to add them to a black iron pan, so they can finish cooking in their juices. This is where the magic happens - it's like a flavor bomb just waiting to explode! We'll let the steaks cook for a few more minutes, until they're nice and tender.

The Final Touch: Caramelized Onions

Now that our steaks are cooked, it's time to add the final touch - caramelized onions! I love pouring these sweet, tangy onions all over my steak. It's like a match made in heaven - the sweetness of the onions balances out the richness of the steak.

Eating and Enjoying

And finally, it's time to eat! I love taking a big bite of this delicious steak and onion dish, feeling the flavors explode in my mouth. If you're looking for a good steak barbecue recipe, then look no further - this is it!
