The OnePlus 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10+ are two high-end smartphones that have garnered attention for their camera capabilities. In this article, we'll delve into a comprehensive comparison of these two devices to determine which one comes out on top.
When it comes to images taken in good light, the S10+ has a clear edge over the OnePlus 7 Pro. The colors are much more consistent between the three cameras, and the overall quality of the images is superior. The OnePlus 7 Pro did struggle in some situations, particularly when it came to capturing vibrant colors and details in bright lighting conditions. However, with a software update, hopefully these issues can be addressed.
One area where the S10+ shines is with its ultra-wide camera. This feature allows for greater flexibility and creativity in taking images, and it's clear that the Samsung device excels in this regard. The comparison between the two devices highlights the importance of having multiple camera options, as both phones offer unique benefits depending on the situation. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 Pro's telephoto camera is a notable feature, particularly when it comes to portrait mode shots.
Low-light photography is another aspect where both devices excel, but in different ways. The OnePlus 7 Pro was better in some situations, while the S10+ was better in others. This suggests that neither device is entirely superior in low-light conditions, and that each has its strengths and weaknesses. For example, when using the front-facing flash, the OnePlus 7 Pro produced images with less noise compared to the S10+. However, when it came to portrait mode shots, the S10+ had a slight edge over the OnePlus 7 Pro.
When it comes to video recording, things get interesting. The OnePlus 7 Pro seemed more stable at 4K, while the S10+ was more stable at 1080p. This may seem like a minor difference, but it's clear that each device has its strengths when it comes to capturing smooth and high-quality video. Furthermore, the S10+ offers the option to use the ultra-wide camera for video recording, which is not available on the OnePlus 7 Pro.
Slow-motion video is another aspect where both devices excel. Both can record 240 frames per second at 1080p, but the S10+ has a higher frame rate of 960 frames per second for a shorter period. However, this burst mode is limited to a certain duration, whereas the OnePlus 7 Pro's 480 frames per second recording lasts longer.
The front-facing camera is another area where both devices shine, with both producing high-quality images and videos. However, there are some subtle differences between the two. The S10+ offers better audio quality in video recordings, particularly when using the rear-facing camera. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 Pro produced cleaner audio when used on the front-facing camera.
Ultimately, the choice between the OnePlus 7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10+ comes down to personal preference and specific needs. If you value a more consistent color profile and better low-light performance, the S10+ may be the better choice. However, if you prioritize a high-resolution ultra-wide camera and telephoto capabilities, the OnePlus 7 Pro is worth considering.
One final note: both devices have their quirks and limitations, particularly when it comes to certain features like slow-motion video recording from the ultra-wide camera on the OnePlus 7 Pro. However, with software updates and ongoing support, it's likely that these issues will be addressed in the near future.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- What's up guys, SuperSaf here, and welcome to another SuperSafStyle Camera Comparisonbetween the OnePlus 7 Proand the Samsung Galaxy S10+.You guys know the drill. We'll be testing allaspects of the cameras, front, rear-facing,images, video, low-light,the full works, also lookout for the audio iconin the corner of the screen, that'll indicate to youwhich device the audio's coming from. We'll be switching betweenthese two throughout this video. We're currently usingthe front-facing cameras. The S10+ does film at up to 4Kfrom the front-facingcamera, so we are at 4K.We're going to be switching to 1080pbefore we do the stabilization test,to keep things as fair as possible.Right, so now we're at1080p from both devicesand we're going to be testingout the stabilization. So we're currently walking.(wind blowing)It's about to get windy.(birds chirping)And now let's go ahead and run.(footsteps crunching)Area's all over the place, but let me know what you think. Now rear-facing video,we're at 4K on both devices, from the primary camera.Let's test out stabilization.Walking, now let's run.(jacket swishing)Stabilization test now at 1080p.I can notice that theOnePlus 7 Pro is cropped inquite a bit more now compared to the S10+.Let's run.(footsteps scraping)One thing I did want to testwas the video on ultra-widebut it seems like on the OnePlus 7 Pro,you can't actually use theultra-wide for video, so yeah, there's literally nooption for it right now,so learned something new.Just a quick autofocustest for the OnePlus 7 Pro.Very, very fast indeed.Same test with the S10+.Once again, very, very fast as well.(knock echoes)So that was the video, nowbefore we move on to images, just having a quick look atwhat we're working with here. Both devices have a very similartriple rear-facing camera setup,So we've got a primary camera,we've got an ultra-wide,and then we've got a telephoto, which is going to give us optical zoom. The primary camera on the OnePlus 7 Prodoes have a much higherresolution, 48 megapixels, but those are just numbers on a paper.By default, when you're shooting an auto,it is going to be at around 12 megapixels, and the only way you couldshoot at 48 megapixelsis if you go into Pro mode. That's not what we're going to be doingin this comparison, because we want to seewhat software processingboth devices offer,so we'll be shooting at default and auto, and that will keep thingsas fair as possible. Now, the telephoto cameras, the OnePlus 7 Pro doeshave 3X optical zoomversus 2X optical zoom on the S10+,but we've got 12 megapixels on the S10+versus eight megapixelson the OnePlus 7 Pro.So although you aregetting more optical zoom, that is at a lower resolution,so we'll see how this affects the images. For the front-facing cameras, the OnePlus 7 Pro doeshave a high resolution, but the S10+ does havetwo front-facing cameras. One of these is a depth sensor,so this should help with portrait mode.Once again, we'll seewhat the results are like. Now, if you want to customizethe look of your OnePlus 7 Proor your Samsung Galaxy S10+,then definitely check outour sponsor for this video, dbrand skins. They've got a huge selection of skinsfor many different devices.I'm going to be leaving a link to themin the description below.Let's get to the images.Right, so starting offoutdoors in good lighting.I think both are doing pretty decent here. The S10+ definitely morepunchy, more vibrant colors. You may or may not likethat, but generally speaking,I think both are doing pretty well. Now remember, we do havean ultra-wide cameraon both of these, and ready for it, boom!Look at that.If you've not realized already,I really like ultra-wide cameras. But I think both once againare doing pretty decent, but the S10+ does havea wider field of viewso you're getting more into your shots. Now let's try out the zoom.So here you can see thaton the OnePlus 7 Pro,you are getting a littlebit more optical zoom, but the S10+ is the sharper imageand that might be down to the resolution, you have more resolution,so you are getting abit of a sharper image. And if we put these side by side 200%,you'll notice that you'renot actually getting inthat much closer with the OnePlus 7 Probecause of that lower resolution,so the angle of view is similar, you're getting slightlycloser with the OnePlus 7 Pro,but you have an overall sharper imageon the S10+ which I do prefer. Now I wanted to test the zoom even furtherso I took another shot, and at a glance,it does look like you'regetting in much closerwith the OnePlus 7 Pro,but if we do go in 200% on both images, you'll see that you're notgetting in that much closer,so that is something you'llhave to bear in mind, that although you aregetting the 3X optical zoom,it is at eight megapixels, not 12.Now another outdoor image,we've got the Golden Gate Bridge here. We've got more punchy colorsonce again on the S10+,and we also have better dynamic range. If you look towards thebottom of the bridge, you can see that moredetails in those shadowshave been maintained on the S10+compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro.And once again, let's testout the ultra-wide camera, and boom, the S10+ I thinkyou can really noticehow much wider the ultra-wide camera is.You are getting more of thatforeground into your shot.Dynamic range, I'd have tostill give it to the S10+.Once again, if you look towardsthe bottom of that bridge, those details in thoseshadows have been maintainedbetter compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro.Now let's test out thezoom, and you'll noticethat the colors are offhere in the OnePlus 7 Pro,and I do think this issomething that hopefullyOnePlus can address anupdate via software, having consistency betweenthe different camerasI think is very, very important, and it's something that I think the S10+is doing really well here. Now, testing up some close-up macro shots, here we've got this flower, and the S10+,I do prefer the image here.Although the colors are more vibrant,we do have more separation betweenthe highlights and the shadows, whereas we've got muchmore of a flat imageon the OnePlus 7 Pro.And I took another image of these poppies, and the OnePlus 7 Pro, strugglinga little bit with color. Now, this is a brand new device,so I'm hoping that OnePlus can sort outsome of these color issueswith software updates. Now, moving on to someportrait mode shots. Both of these images weretaken from the same place, and you'll notice that the OnePlus 7 Prois much closer, and thatis because it's usingthe telephoto lens for this portrait, whereas the S10+ is usingthe primary wide lens,so you're getting all of mein this shot on the S10+,compared to the OnePlus7 Pro, and I got to say,I much prefer the angle ofview on the OnePlus 7 Procompared to the S10+.I think portraits should betaken with a telephoto camera. If you ask most photographers, they'll tell you thatportraits should be shotat 50 MM or above, and becausethis is 3X optical zoom,it's probably around 70 MM,which is a good angleof view for portraits. Now, to compare these,I did get my brother whowas taking these shotsto move closer, and you'llsee the difference here. The angle of view is much more pleasingon the OnePlus 7 Pro.In terms of edge detection,I think both are doingreally, really well. Both of them have also gotthe area in between my arm.The OnePlus 7 Pro image, however, is a little bit soft.I'm not sure if it's trying to applysome sort of a beauty filteror something like that. It's nothing I could see orchange, but this is the case.I still do prefer the OnePlus 7 Pro image. Now, one thing thatyou do have on the S10+is the ability to change the blurand the effect of blur after the fact. This is something you can'tdo on the OnePlus 7 Pro.Testing out another image, once again that angle of viewmuch more pleasing on the OnePlus 7 Pro.Edge detection, I think bothare doing a very, very good job.The OnePlus 7 Pro, yet again,it is a little bit soft.Again, I'm not sure why it's doing this, but out of the two, I doprefer the OnePlus 7 Pro image. Now let's move on to low-light.So both of these do support a night mode,so this is where it's goingto take multiple exposuresto give you brighter low-light images. And in this first image,I think both are doingreally, really good.I'd have to call it a bit of a draw. Both images are verysimilar from what I can see.So I went ahead and did a few more tests, and in this image Iprefer the OnePlus 7 Pro.If you go in 200% you can seethat the text is sharperon the OnePlus 7 Pro.You also have a lessnoise in the backgroundcompared to the S10+.So I do prefer the OnePlus7 Pro in this instance. Now I went and did some further tests, and here, I actuallylike the S10+ image more.If you go in 200%, you'll seethat we have a sharper imageon the S10+ compared tothat on the OnePlus 7 Pro.And I went ahead and did another test, this time indoors in very, very low light, and here, the S10+ is doingbetter in terms of the colors. We've got a bit of a greentint on the OnePlus 7 Pro,although the OnePlus 7 Pro is not as noisyand it's a little bitsharper compared to the S10+,so I think for low-lightit is a bit of a draw. Now let's look at some selfies. We have pushed selfiestowards the end of the videobecause some people get annoyedwhen they're towards thebeginning of the video, but anyway, looking at this shot, both are doing a very, very good job,we've got great dynamic range on both. The OnePlus 7 Pro might just haveslightly better dynamic range. If you look towards the Space Center, those highlights have beenmaintained slightly betteron the OnePlus 7 Pro, sofrom these two images,I do prefer the OnePlus 7 Pro.Now, if you use portrait modefrom the front-facing cameras, where it's going to blur the background, here both are doing a very, very good job.Edge detection is very good on both.I'd say it's a bit of a draw here, but I wanted to test things even further,so I went to an area where wehad a complicated background, and here the S10+ isdefinitely doing much better. If you look towards myjacket and towards my ears, the OnePlus 7 Pro isstruggling a little bit.And on the S10+ you can seethat having that secondary depth camerais giving you a better portrait shot.Once again, you can adjustthe blur after the fact, and you can choose somedifferent effects on the S10+.This is something you cannotdo on the OnePlus 7 Pro.Now some low-light selfies in the dark. Here, both are doing okay.Neither of these are great, to be honest,so if you do use the front-facing flash, here I do prefer the OnePlus 7 Pro.It's not as washed out as on the S10+,and the image also has lessnoise on the OnePlus 7 Procompared to the S10+.Right, so those were allof the images and videos. What are my opinions and my conclusions?Well, when it comes toimages in good light,I would have to give the edge to the S10+.The colors were much more consistentbetween the three cameras. The OnePlus 7 Pro didstruggle in some situations.Hopefully these issues can befixed with a software update. The ultra-wide camera on the S10+is why they're comparedto the OnePlus 7 Pro,so that is something that I did like. And although you do have 3X optical zoomversus 2X on the S10+,you do have a high resolution on the S10+,which does make a difference. For low-light, I would haveto call it a bit of a draw. The OnePlus 7 Pro wasbetter in some situations, whereas the S10+ was better in others. For video, things were interesting.I think both shot really good video. The OnePlus 7 Pro seemedto be more stable at 4K,whereas the S10+ seemed tobe more stable at 1080p.And for some reason, you cannotuse the ultra-wide camerafor video on the OnePlus 7Pro, I'm not sure why this is.I looked around everywhereand I could not find an option for this.Maybe we'll get it with asoftware update, but as it stands, the OnePlus 7 Pro cannot shoot videofrom the ultra-wide camera, which is a bit of a bummer. For slow motion I wouldhave to call it a draw. Both did really well. Both can shoot 240frames a second at 1080p,720p, although you dohave a higher frame rate,960 frames a second on the S10+,that is just that a small burst, whereas the 480 frames a second at 720pyou can shoot for a longer period of time,so I am going to call slow-motion a draw. For the front-facing camera images,I think both did really, really well. You do have slightly better dynamic rangeon the OnePlus 7 Pro,but you do have betterportrait shots from the S10+.And for front-facing camera video, although you have up to 4K on the S10+so you are going to get sharper images,I did prefer the colorson the OnePlus 7 Pro.For portrait mode, althoughboth had great edge detection, personally I did prefer the OnePlus 7 Pro,and that is because it'susing the telephoto camerarather than the primary camera, and I have to say once again, portraits from a telephoto cameraare definitely more pleasing, although images were a little bit softand you can't adjustthe blur after the facton the OnePlus 7 Pro.On the S10+, you do have this option. And for audio, you can goback and have a listen.I kind of preferred theaudio on the OnePlus 7 Prowhen it was on the front-facing camera, but when we were onthe rear-facing camera,I preferred the S10+.Now, I'm not sure why this is,because of mic placementsmaybe, I don't know. That's what I think, anyway. What do you guys think of the audio, and all of the images and video, which one did you prefer overall, the OnePlus 7 Pro orthe Samsung Galaxy S10+?Definitely drop me a commentbelow and let me know.If you want to see lots of
