Early Unboxing of the iPad Mini Smart Cover: First Look and Overview

Hey everyone, how's it going? This is an early unboxing of the iPad smart cover for the iPad Mini. Now you're probably saying wait, but the iPad Mini doesn't come out until Friday, would be correct. However, Apple if you ordered your iPad Mini or Smart Cover online turned out to be shipping some of these early, and I got my hands on one.

This is the red edition of the Smart Cover, which comes in a wide array of colors much like the smart covers for the regular iPad, including light gray, dark gray, red, green, blue, and pink. They are a little bit pricey at $39, but you can pick them up on apple.com or your Apple store or wherever iPad minis are sold.

Let's show you the smart cover and compare it to the regular iPad mini smart or the regular iPad Smart Cover. This is it; very simplistic packaging much like the smart cover for the regular iPad. However, you see they've now adjusted it to show the iPad Mini, with the lightning connector down here on the bottom of the iPad. They also have the updated graphics for the iPad Mini, which are really cool.

The iPad mini smart cover talks about its features, but there's not that much else to it. So, we'll go ahead and open it up now. It's simply just this tab, I believe all you have to do is pull it, and once you do that, you can just pop it out like so. Here it is, and this is a product red so it does go to help support fighting AIDS in Africa, which is a really good cause.

That's why I always love getting the product red products for rample, which is nice; they donate some of the proceeds from the sale towards that. And as you can see, the first thing you'll probably notice is it's lacking the aluminum bar like the regular iPad Smart Cover has. So, let's go ahead and grab my iPad Smart Cover as you see right here.

It's a different color but is a genuine iPad Apple Smart Cover which I bought from the store, and the first thing you see right here so this has the aluminum bar however when we go over to the iPad mini smart cover it doesn't actually have the aluminum bar now. It is still magnetic as you see they stuck together however there is no aluminum bar like on this one; it doesn't rotate around but it does have all the same features, can still fold back on itself goes together like so which is kind of cool.

So, there's a magnet right there so it can fold up like so it can fold up this way and it also just is more I believe to protect your screen than anything the iPad Mi smart cover it won't have as many uh positions as the regular iPad uh Smart Cover however it still does seem to be strong it seems to be like a good apple made product I'm glad they made one for the mini because the Smart Cover really is a good product.

One thing I think would be kind of cool is to actually see a smart case for the iPad if you're not sure what that is; it's basically a smart cover with a backing to it and it's uh created for the iPad. I'll show it to you right here so again here's my product Red Smart Case, you probably seen these they released them back in the spring or back in the summer.

And it's basically just your smart cover right here and then it has also a back to it like so and it covers the whole thing and it actually looks really elegant. I hope that they make those for the new iPad fourth generation as well as possibly the iPad Mini however they may not be doing it maybe there's not a big enough product Market out there for it but a smart case for the iPad mini would really be cool.
