5 DIY Toys You Can Make With a Shoebox _ Art Projects for Kids

Finishing Touches: A Simple Project to Get Your Kids Entertained

As we continue with our shoebox activities, I'd like to share with you a super simple project that's perfect for keeping your little ones entertained. All you need are some circles cut out of fill that will become adorable bubbles on the side of your shoebox. This project is ideal for kids who love bubbles and can be completed in just an hour. With items you already have around your house, you'll be amazed at how creative and fun this project can be.

For our second shoebox activity, we're going to create a guitar that's sure to delight any music lover. We've opened up a pre-painted box, and now it's time to add the sound hole. Using my utility knife, I'm going to cut out a circle that will become the source of sound in our toy guitar. Next, we'll build in our bridge and nut – a crucial part of any real guitar. We know the nut is normally located on the neck, but for this toy, it's more convenient to attach it to the body of the guitar. Once these are glued down, we can start stretching out our rubber bands to create the strings.

As we work on our guitar, I'm excited to see how it's coming together. The sound is already starting to take shape, and I can barely contain my excitement. To add a touch of realism, we'll attach some tuners to the neck of the guitar. Using a pencil, I'll poke a hole through and then insert a pipe cleaner cut in half on both sides – this will create our tuning pegs. Finally, we'll attach the nut to the body of the guitar, and it's ready to play. My child is going to love this project, and I'm thrilled to see how creative they're being.

Next up, we have a DIY shoebox stove that's perfect for kids who love cooking. We've pre-painted the inside of the lid, including the top – this will help us achieve a realistic look. Starting with some duct tape, we'll create our backsplash. You can use any design you like, from stripes to polka dots. With just three rolls of duct tape, we can transform our shoebox into a functional stove. Moving on to our clock, I'll use thick yarn to coil and glue it down – this will create the hour and minute hands.

To make our hands more realistic, I'll take some pipe cleaners and shape them into fingers. Using a pushpin, I'll secure these in place once they're glued down. Now it's time to build out our range and stove area. Another piece of pipe cleaner will be used as the handle for our oven door. To add a finishing touch, we can spray paint some knobs – I've chosen pink, but you can use any color you like. Finally, we'll glue down our range and spelt cut-out circles to complete this adorable shoebox stove.

Our next project is all about creativity and fun – a portable puppet theater that's sure to delight kids of all ages. We'll be repurposing an old shoebox and some extra wrapping paper that you might otherwise throw away. First, we'll cut out the frame for our theater, making sure it's big enough for your puppets to fit comfortably inside. Next, we'll create a hole in the center where your puppets will go – this is where the magic happens.

Now that we have our holes cut out, it's time to get creative with our wrapping paper. We'll wrap it around the edges of the shoebox, using hot glue to secure it in place. Once this is dry, we can attach a neck strap – this is where your puppets will hang, and you can start creating stories and characters. The final step is to add some straws – these will create our maze for our puppet theater. With just a few simple straws and some creativity, you'll have yourself a fun and interactive play area.

Last but not least, we have a throwback project that's sure to bring back memories of childhood fun – the marble maze. This classic toy is now being reimagined as a DIY shoebox maze using nothing more than the lid of the box, some straws, and a bouncy ball. We'll start by pre-painting the lid and then cutting out our straws into various lengths – these will become our maze paths.

Gluing these down to the inside of the lid, we'll create our labyrinthine challenge. Safety first! Please be aware that this project may pose a choking hazard for small children, so make sure to use your best judgment when creating and playing with this maze. And there you have it – a fun and creative marble maze made from an old shoebox. I'm excited to see how kids will enjoy this one, and I hope you'll join me in making some of these projects with your little ones.

our base for our rotating brushes inside of the car wash simply take some felt cut it upwards to get that nice solid fringe we're gonna take our glue gun this actually feels like the material they use in a car wash too and repeat for this next one we're still using a toilet paper roll but we are covering it in felt and then we're gonna take some scrap fringe that I just had from a project we're just going to glue that on now this is our rotating brush that's gonna go from the top of the vehicle we're gonna use a dowel to let that rotate on put two holes on the side of the box so for our last two toilet paper rolls wrapped in aluminum foil we're gonna use another assortment of Fringe because if you've ever gone through a car wash we know there's all kinds of brushes in there I want this to look as real as possible we glue all of these down we're gonna take our pipe cleaner simply fold it in half twist it give it a little bit of texture now let's get our doorway covered same concept we used on the first rotating washers we cut in a fringe effect glue the orange and the blue together and then we're going to glue it to the box and for our finishing touches I have some circles cut out
