The iPhone 7 Plus: A Comprehensive Review
As I held the iPhone 7 Plus in my hands, I couldn't help but think that it's not exactly a powerhouse when compared to some of its peers. The screen on this device is alright, but if you weren't comparing it side by side with other phones, you probably wouldn't give it a second thought. In fact, I've seen comparably priced phones with screens that have their colors pop a lot more. However, it's not like the 7 Plus's screen is subpar or anything; it's just that it's not exactly going to blow your mind. But hey, who needs a showstopping display when you're getting a workhorse of an A10 processor under the hood? The iPhone 7 Plus has been a reliable performer for me over the past year, and I've never had any complaints about its power and speed.
The camera on this device is where things get really interesting. As someone who uses their phone's camera to capture moments from their daily life, I can confidently say that the dual-camera setup on the 7 Plus has been a huge upgrade for me. The ability to use the two times zoom every single day has made a world of difference, and I've found myself really enjoying the optical zoom feature. It's one of those little things that might not seem like a big deal at first, but trust me when I say it makes all the difference in taking great photos. And let's not forget about video quality – the 7 Plus has consistently impressed me with its ability to capture smooth and crisp footage.
One thing that's worth mentioning is the new Moment V2 lenses that will be coming out with iOS updates. These lenses will fit onto the back of the camera, allowing for even better video and photo quality. I'm excited to see how these will enhance my overall camera experience, and I'll be sure to have a follow-up review once they're available.
On the front-facing camera, also known as the selfie cam, I must admit that I've been a bit disappointed with the quality. While it's not terrible by any means, I've seen other phones that outdo it in terms of image quality. That being said, if you weren't comparing it to others, you might think it's pretty good. But hey, who needs to be the best selfie-taker when you can still take great photos and videos with this camera?
Now, let's talk about iOS 11 on the iPhone 7 Plus. This is a big deal for me, as many of my previous reviews didn't include this feature. One of the biggest changes I've noticed is the new control center design. At first glance, it looks a bit different, but upon closer inspection, you'll find that it's actually quite functional. I love the ability to long press buttons for more options and add a customize button. And let's not forget about the new features like Siri Translate and the document scanner in Notes.
One of my favorite new features is Do Not Disturb mode, which allows me to respond to messages only when I'm in an emergency situation. It's been working pretty well so far, and it's nice to have a feature that can help me stay focused on my day.
The new app store design has also made a bit of an impact on me. While it looks great, I'm not entirely sure if it'll make a huge difference in terms of discovering new apps. But hey, it's definitely worth checking out, and I've already seen some cool features that showcase the potential of this new layout.
Finally, there's the QR code reader built into the camera, which is a long-overdue feature for iOS devices. It's been surprisingly useful on several occasions, so kudos to Apple for finally adding it in.
Overall, my experience with the iPhone 7 Plus has been overwhelmingly positive. While it may not be perfect, it's a solid device that's well-suited for most users. And if you're looking for a good deal on one, I've got you covered – just check out the link in the description box below.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey is Chris with the new eyePHONE coming out in September I figured that this is the perfect time to do an 11-month real world update on the iPhone 7 plus because not everybody's going to get that new iPhone a lot of people are going to be looking to get the last generation of iPhone which is going to be this guy so in this video I'm going to be talking mostly about the new features that were introduced with this model and how those works in the real world I'm also going to be ending this video by talking about how iOS 11 works on the 7 plus that means I'm going to be talking about the infamous lack of a headphone jack the taptic engine home button the battery life that funky stereo speaker setup the design the dual camera system and more and I'm going to save talking about the camera and iOS 11 until the very end so stick around for those because with iOS 11 it's kind of like this is a totally different phone than the one that actually launched almost a year ago today's video is brought to you by the sales of my new book from u2 youtuber so if you want to support this channel go ahead and click on the link down in the description and pick up a copy for yourself or maybe for a friend and hey if you're looking for the best deal on the iPhone 7 plus or any of its accessories I'll have that link down in the description as well let's start things off by talking about battery life because it's actually been kind of disappointing for me on the iPhone 7 plus now I'm a heavy user probably more than most people but I end every single day in low power mode which automatically kicks in at 20% battery life trying to tweak some settings and save as much of that battery as possible now can I get through a whole day on one single charge and the answer is yes but sometimes just barely while we're at it I really wish that charging happened a lot faster on the iPhone 7 plus when I look at something like the 1 plus 5 which is - charging it just puts the iPhone 7 plus dashain at the end of the day the battery life is completely usable it works but it's not optimal next up let's talk about that headphone jack or the lack of a headphone jack actually I can't believe that this is ever a big deal like a huge controversy it's gone and I don't miss it and the reason I don't is because of - when it comes down to it I'd rather listen to music movies podcasts wirelessly I mean you can even convert the popular audio technica ath m50x is a bluetooth using a little adapter which might be coming out in a new video soon but i'll leave the link for you guys down in the description anyways but seriously the only time that I use that dongle is in my car that's it here's my thoughts on this iPhones are meant to be premium devices and Wireless is a premium experience so if you don't want to pay for a premium experience whether it's an iPhone or wireless headphones then maybe the iPhone isn't the right kind of thing for you I mean there are tons of budget really awesome Android devices out there with headphone jack I have to take a second and mention the design of the 7 plus because I'm kind of sick of it it's nice and all but it's basically been the same thing since like 2014 functionally there's nothing wrong with it and that's the good news but I mean there's so many other phones now to have smaller bezels or even more interesting features again the oneplus 5 has the same screen size but it feels so much smaller in your hand just for instant and also load a roll of with their modular phone designs really is thinking outside the box now on a side note I happen to get the piano black finish which is really awesome and it stayed pristine and scratch-free for about 10 seconds after I got it and from there on it was fingerprinted and scratched and you know granted it lived in a case for most of its life but still if you're looking at this I'd probably say maybe look at the matte black design instead all right let's talk taptic Nicks is in the taptic engine on the home button which some people really said that they didn't like but to be honest I like it it's pretty cool there are three different settings you can adjust for more or less feedback and to be honest I really like the third option the best because the more feedback the better but actually it's kind of loud so you definitely notice it when you press it so for that reason I usually keep it set at setting one or two when the seven-plus launched it came with a new stereo speaker setup and stereo has to go in air quotes because it's not really stereo like you would traditionally think of cereal what it is is they amplify the earpiece one side of the phone and actually it's pretty nice when you're looking at like a YouTube clip or something because you're getting a balanced sound coming out your face which is pretty cool as a seven plus is water-resistant which is great in theory it's not something that in the real world I ever had to test out thankfully I guess the screen on seven plus is alright if you weren't comparing it side by side next to a bunch of other phones then you probably never think twice about it but I'll go ahead and tell you that it could be brighter and I've seen comparably priced phones with screens that have their colors pop a lot more but this is the kind of thing that you're just likely to be happy with and never give a second thought to out in the real world I've got no complaints about the a10 processor sitting inside this guy it's been a workhorse it handled everything I've thrown added over the last year and power and speed were never things that I could complain about on the 7 plus alright so now we get to the cameras this is a big feature for a lot of people and there's tons of camera tests floating around out there comparisons all kinds of stuff I've made several myself so go watch those if that's what you want to see but right now I'm just going to talk about practical real-world use I have to say I've really really liked the dual camera setup here it's been a huge upgrade for me I use the two times zoom every single day and having a real optical zoom instead of just having to zoom digitally that is awesome I've been really happy with the video and photo quality on the 7 plus in fact if I go travel I never wish I'd brought a DSLR or a separate camera with me it's just been that good and I am excited though about the new moment v2 lenses which fit on the back of the camera so I'll have a video about those coming out that's going to make things even better with an already great camera so I'll make sure to have those links up down in the description now on the front facing camera the selfie cam I have to say that I've been a little bit disappointed with the quality again if you're not sitting there comparing it to other cameras you probably would think no big deal well that's pretty good but honestly some other phones and I've done some comparisons I'll link those down in the description have been a little bit better they've wowed me a little bit more and now we get to iOS 11 on the iPhone 7 plus and like I said you know all the reviews previously of the iPhone 7 plus didn't include this so this is maybe a little bit of new ground here let's start off the iOS 11 discussion with the redesign control center I actually don't love the look of it but functionally it's great you can long press buttons for more options which is cool and so is the option to add customize button it's also cool that you can easily record the screen now and mark up your screenshots both of which are really genuinely useful features series also a little bit smarter now and one of the things that it can do is translate phrases into other languages for you like I don't know Siri Translate where's the bathroom I have to go right now it's an emergency into German there's also several new photo effects which are fun to play around with I think that the balance effect is probably my new favorite and a big new feature is that do not disturb mode which I've got turned on it's not required but it's been working pretty good so far when somebody messages me issues some two messages saying I'm driving I'll respond to you when I get wherever I'm going but if it's really an emergency if you respond again then I'll see your message which is pretty awesome oh one cool thing is the new document scanner in note which is a really good job of taking a piece of paper from whatever angle and cleaning it up putting it straight and making it a great easy to read note one thing that's almost kind of jarring is the new app store design it looks good there's like a 2-day screen that shows your new apps and collections and it kind of tells you stories behind your favorite developers I guess but whether or not it actually helps you discover new apps that aren't just featured I don't know that'll be kind of something to see one thing that's different is that there's finally a QR code reader built into the camera that's been missing for a long time on the iPhone and that's actually already come in handy several different times all right so I think that's it for this video if you're looking for my recommendation should you buy this phone then yeah I mean there's nothing that would hold me back from recommending it to you don't forget if you're looking for a
