The Midweek 180: A Celebration of Motorsport and More
Let's get cracking with this week's midweek 180, shall we? I shall start my timer, okay leader of the pack! Last week was Ben Higginson, who joined in the magnificent seven by François G, Goodfest 007, Simon D, Davey, Simon W, Andy Hop ton, and Stuart Wright. So, whoever puts the first comment this week will be my leader of the pack next week, and the first seven comments will be in my magnificent seven. Where are you, and what are you doing well? That was kilobravo 99, who was watching the midweek 180 on his birthday, happy birthday, my friend! But wherever you are right now, whatever you're doing, put it in the comments below, and I'll give you a shout out next week.
Last week's question was: "Had you ever preempted something, and then ended up looking like a right charlie?" There were a couple of examples, but maybe not as spectacular as mine last week. Last week and this week's question is prompted by my Monday Night Video this week, where I talked about servicing my car, and I just wanted to know how many of you who still have a car in warranty get it serviced at your main dealer or whether you get it serviced at a local specialist? Just interested to see what people think about kind of keeping the full main dealer history, even though you don't technically have to nowadays.
F1 A couple of things – The testing at the weekend was really interesting. Obviously, um Mercedes had a bad day on Day One, but I think Mercedes Red Bull and McLaren look like they're going to be really interesting. But I couldn't not have a moment just to think about the legend that is Murray Walker or was Murray Walker sadly we lost Murray Walker just a few days ago now, and for me, he was the voice of motorsport growing up – not just Formula One either. I can remember loving watching him comment on them on Rally Cross and all kinds of motorsport. Utter Legend. Um, briefly met him a couple of times at Festival of Speed at Goodwood, but yeah, very, very sad to see him go. Although he did have a good innings, but utterly brilliant – brilliant commentator for getting it wrong as much as getting it right.
But yes, true legend and car news this week, and now Gordon Murray Automotive – I missed it on the midweek 180 a couple of weeks ago; they launched their T50s, their kind of track day special of their T50. Just in case that wasn't fast enough, but this week, the exciting thing is we've actually seen the car moving for the first time at Dunstall Aerodrome. I must admit it's the most exciting car currently in development – I haven't seen one in person. I believe they're very, very tiny – that'll be the footprint of a Porsche Boxster, but oh my goodness, what a piece of engineering, and I can't wait to see more about that car. So, it's truly exciting.
A couple of bits of news so Vintage Voltage is back on the Telebox – It actually started last Friday, uh it's on a Friday at nine o'clock on DMAX, and that's on Freeview. So, if you didn't capture the first series of Vintage Voltage, we are back on the Telebox me, Moggy, and the team, and then this Friday's video is the Jaguar I-Pace, and I'm asking a simple question: Is it good enough for Jaguar to go all-electric by 2025? There you go – three seconds over but yeah, no Friday's video. The premise of Friday's video is a very simple question – Jaguar have announced that they're going to go all-electric only from 2025, and as it stands, the only all-electric car in their lineup is the I-Pace.
So, what happens to uh XE x FPE, F-Type? What's going to happen? I find it fascinating to see what's going to be happening with Jaguar over the next five years but we've got to start with where they currently are in the EV game now. I have had an I-Pace on the channel before when it first launched a few years ago, and so a really interesting video – so make sure you tune in for that on Friday at six. But that's my dear peddlers, is that um? I hope you enjoyed that one! If you have done so please give me a thumbs up; comments below are always welcome, and if you haven't done so already, please subscribe to PetroPed for plenty more content to come – and join me on the next video this Friday at 6 p.m.
