The Moment of Truth: Apple's iPad Unboxing
It is April 3rd, 2010, and the moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived – the iPad has finally arrived. Here's a look at the Box, which is very basic, simple, and Apple-like. The packaging is obviously designed by Apple in California.
As I open the box, I'm excited to see what's inside. There it is, the iPad, front and center. It says "iPad" on both sides – simple and straightforward. The design of the box is very Apple-like, with a minimalist approach that immediately conveys the brand's identity. On the bottom of the box, you can see all the necessary information about what's inside: instructions, how to sync it, and more.
I'm dying to play with this thing now. That was the longest morning of my life waiting for UPS to arrive, but as promised, they got it here on launch day. I was very impressed when I opened the box – it feels sturdy and has a nice weight to it. It's heavy, but not too light – just right. According to the packaging, the iPad weighs about a pound and a half.
As I take out the instructions, I'm surprised that there are no Apple stickers included. This is an interesting omission, as stickers are usually a standard part of Apple's packaging. However, it seems I was mistaken – there are indeed big, bold "Big Apple" stickers on the box! They're huge and sweet, adding a pop of color to the otherwise minimalist design.
The USB cable is also included in the package, but there's no dock. Fortunately, I have a keyboard dock that just shipped today, which I'll be reviewing next Thursday. The power adapter is also present, allowing you to charge your iPad via a wall socket. It seems like everything necessary is embedded into the box itself, with no extra packaging required.
As I remove the plastic covering from the iPad, I'm struck by its solid feel. This thing feels good in my hands – it's clear that Apple put a lot of care and attention into designing this device. The iPad has a very nice weight to it, which makes it easy to hold onto. I can see why people would be so excited about this device.
Now that the packaging is out of the way, let's take a closer look at the iPad itself. On the front, you'll find the home button – a familiar feature from Apple's iPhone lineup. The side of the device is surprisingly bare, with no buttons or ports in sight. There is one small opening on top, which might be the ambient light sensor I mentioned earlier.
The orientation lock has also been changed to prevent accidental rotations when watching videos in bed. This is a great feature for anyone who wants to enjoy their iPad in comfort without disturbing others around them. If you compare this device to the iPhone 3GS with a case and iPad, it's clear that the iPad is much larger – but its sleek design makes up for its size.
I'm not sure what's inside that little opening on top, so I'll have to investigate further later. For now, let's move on to the back of the device, where you can see the Apple logo and serial number. This is definitely a high-end device – 32 gigabytes of storage is plenty for anyone who needs it.
I'm thrilled to be reviewing this iPad, which I know will be a game-changer in the tech industry. As an Apple fanboy, I've been eagerly awaiting this moment for months, and I'm not disappointed. There are already plans for review videos, including a first boot and more. If you have any questions or requests, please post them in the comments – I'll do my best to address them.
Finally, thanks for watching as usual! Be sure to check out my social links in the sidebar (or under the video on YouTube's new layout) for Facebook, dailyBooth, Twitter, and more. I'll see you in my next video.
