The New 16-Inch MacBook Pro: A Game-Changer for Creatives
The latest addition to Apple's MacBook Pro lineup is undoubtedly one of the most exciting releases in recent memory. The new 16-inch model boasts an impressive array of features that cater specifically to creative professionals, making it a must-have for anyone who requires raw power and display real estate. One of the most striking aspects of this machine is its massive 16-inch screen, which provides a significant boost over its smaller 15-inch counterpart.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro has a native resolution of 3072 x 1920, while the 15-inch model had a native resolution of 2880 x 1800. This results in more real estate on screen, allowing users to work more efficiently and comfortably. The default scaled resolution is 1792 x 1120, providing an optimal balance between performance and portability. The display's refresh rate can also be adjusted from the internal settings, giving users the flexibility to tailor their experience.
Another significant upgrade in the new 16-inch MacBook Pro is its storage capacity. Users now have the option to configure up to 8 terabytes of SSD storage internally, a feature that was previously only available on the more expensive "beast" model. This is a game-changer for productivity professionals who require large amounts of storage space without having to rely on external drives.
The price of this upgrade may seem steep, with an additional $800 tacked onto the already premium price of the 16-inch MacBook Pro. However, given the speed and capacity that 8 terabytes of internal storage provides, it's surprisingly competitive. The new 16-inch MacBook Pro is a significant step forward for Apple in terms of providing more storage options to users.
In addition to its impressive display and storage capabilities, the new 16-inch MacBook Pro also boasts a range of other features that cater specifically to creative professionals. One notable example is the option to configure up to 64 gigabytes of RAM, a feature that may be necessary for users running multiple virtual machines or requiring extreme multitasking.
The GPU in question is the AMD Radeon Pro 5500M, which has impressed early testing results. This includes benchmarking tests on Blackmagic Design's GPU Pro with the Radeon Vega 56, where the Radeon Pro 5500M performed better due to its Thunderbolt 3 connectivity advantages. However, even without this advantage, the 5500M has demonstrated impressive performance in various tests.
Battery Life is another area where the new 16-inch MacBook Pro has surprised expectations. Despite having a larger battery, the machine is actually rated one hour longer than its smaller counterpart, thanks to Apple's clever use of a 100-watt battery and a compact power adapter. This should provide users with an impressive amount of working time on the go.
The microphone on this new MacBook Pro is also noteworthy, featuring a studio-quality 3-mic array with high directional beamforming. Early testing results suggest that it delivers surprisingly good sound quality, making it a standout feature in an already feature-packed machine.
Finally, no discussion of the 16-inch MacBook Pro would be complete without mentioning its speakers. The new machine boasts a high-fidelity six-speaker system with force-cancelling woofers, producing a truly remarkable listening experience that is hard to match in video. This impressive audio setup is especially notable given the machine's relatively compact size.
Overall, it's clear that Apple has put significant thought into creating the ultimate laptop for creative professionals. With its massive display, impressive storage options, and standout audio and microphone capabilities, this new 16-inch MacBook Pro is undoubtedly one of the best laptops that Apple has ever produced.

keyboard so Apple has gotten rid of the much-maligned butterfly switch keyboard and they've gone with this basically they've gone back to the scissor switches of the pre 2016 MacBook Pro model so what that means is you get more key travel and for me personally and a lot of other people I know that results in much less finger fatigue when typing long-form content it also results in a much more reliable keyboard overall stay tuned because our full review will be exploring this a lot more in detail now here it is compared to the 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro with the butterfly switches on the right there notice that the Escape key is no longer relegated to the touch bar but there is now a physical Escape key so programmers and people who use that Escape key all the time are definitely going to appreciate that and another improvement is that the touch bar is further away from the top row of physical keys so it's going to be less likely that you accidentally touched the touch bar when pressing those top row of keys so that's going to save you some time and eliminate the potential frustration that could stem from accidentally tapping the touch bar but Apple didn't stop there they really did listen to their customers now you have as you can see the inverted T arrow keys and this makes the keys much easier to identify without having a look down at your keyboard just another quality of life improvement if you want to call it that just makes typing on your MacBook Pro that much easier and although I think the butterfly switch keyboard was terrible there are some things that I did like about it such as having the LED light under each key so you get that really even backlighting that's still here on the 16 inch MacBook Pro and also you get the stability of the keys which was a feature of the butterfly switch keyboard you still have that same stability here on the 16 inch MacBook Pro now obviously outside of the keyboard the display is the next biggest thing about this MacBook Pro for the first time Apple is offering a 16 inch MacBook Pro which means that at 16 inches diagonal this is the biggest laptop display that they've made in years and although it is a little bit larger slightly heavier than the 15-inch MacBook Pro having that extra screen real estate is great for productivity and I don't think anyone who is okay with traveling with the 15-inch MacBook Pro is gonna make a big deal out of the extra size or the extra weight of the 16 inch model the good thing is that you get a little bit of extra real estate on screen and you get smaller bezels that's gonna make apps like Final Cut Pro 10 look great so the new 16 inch MacBook Pro has a native resolution of 30 72 by 1920 while the 15 inch model had a native resolution of 28 80 by 1800 so you get more real estate on screen with a default scaled resolution of 1792 by 1120 and you can adjust the refresh rate from the internal display just like you'll be able to do with the upcoming Pro display XDR for the upcoming Mac Pro unfortunately I don't have a 15 inch model to directly compare it to but I do have the latest 13-inch model and you could see there's a huge difference in screen real estate no big surprise there there's also a pretty big difference in those side bezels as well if you handle video graphics or photos the 16 inch MacBook Pro is definitely the one for you now for me this is probably the most exciting new feature and also the most expensive but now you have the option to configure not just to not just four but 8 terabytes of SSD storage internally indeed that is almost as expensive as a beast model 16 inch macbook pro by itself however given the speed and given the amount of storage it's actually really competitive I'm actually surprised Apple didn't charge a whole lot more for 8 terabytes I did it I mean what do you hear what I'm saying here 8 terabytes of internal storage means you're not gonna have to have any of these anymore you can just have all your projects on your internal drive that is awesome for productivity we'll have more on that in our full review as well and sort of on that same wavelength Apple now makes it possible to configure not just 32 gigabytes of RAM but yeah 64 gigabytes of RAM in a macbook pro yet $800 the price is pretty absurd but if you need that RIM say you're running multiple virtual machines for instance at least you have the option now I've done some initial testing with the GPU the AMD Radeon probe 5500 M and I have to say I'm very impressed with this GPU that's far like I said I'll have many more thoughts in our full review but from what I've seen from the initial benchmarks you know the typical benchmarks having valleys in a bench Geekbench etc this GPU is nothing to sneeze at I actually connected a Blackmagic a GPU Pro with the Radeon Vega 56 to this machine just to compare the two in the Radeon Pro 5500 M performed better as you can see here now granted the Blackmagic II TPU is connected via Thunderbolt 3 so the Radeon Pro 5500 M obviously has some bandwidth advantages but given past testing of GPUs and prior MacBook Pro models I was still very impressed with the 5500 M and with all these advancements including the bigger display you're probably thinking to yourself well this thing has to give worse battery life right well that's not so it's actually rated one hour better than the 15-inch model which is kind of crazy when you think about it now obviously there's a larger battery inside this machine you actually have a hundred watt battery which is the maximum amount to be TSA safe and you get this little guy right here a 96 watt power adapter to recharge that 100 watt battery so you're going to get 11 hours with the 16 inch MacBook Pro at least in theory we'll have more in a full review so this new MacBook Pro features a studio-quality 3 mic array with a high in directional beamforming in other words it sounds a whole lot better than its predecessor I'm going to test it out right here and let you hear for yourself all right so now let's listen and see how it sounds good right but that's just the test we'll have more in a full review so stay tuned and while the microphone is impressive the speakers are even more impressive I can't believe the sound emanating from this machine Apple includes a new high fidelity six speaker system with force cancelling woofers in other words it sounds ridiculously good and unfortunately video is just not going to do it justice if you get a chance to hear it in person please do so but go ahead and listen anyway there's also a noticeable reduction of vibration through the chassis so ladies and gentlemen that has been a look at our top features for the 16 inch macbook pro stay tuned because we'll have more in a full review where we go in-depth on this machine but let me just spoil it for you I think this is the best laptop that Apple's made in years perhaps ever let me know what you guys think down
