A Day of Racing and Reflection: The Story Behind Our 95 Run
As I sat in my car, waiting to make our final run for the day, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervous energy. We had just received word that the number one qualifier in our section was running at a 91, and we knew we needed to bring our A-game if we wanted to stay in contention. Our plan was to creep up slowly, barely touching the brake pedal, and then let off instantly to see how it would affect our launch strategy.
I remember taking a deep breath and focusing on the task at hand. I told myself, "Just creep in, barely touch the brake, and then let off." It was a simple plan, but one that required precision and control. As we made our way down the track, I could feel my heart racing with anticipation. We were going to need every ounce of skill and experience we possessed to get this thing just right.
The launch strategy proved to be a key factor in our success. By letting off at 1,000 feet and allowing the car to coast, we were able to achieve a better reaction time and improve our overall performance. It was a delicate balance between giving ourselves enough speed and not too much, but with each run, I felt more confident that we had it figured out.
As we ran the second pass of the day, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. We were getting closer to the number one qualifier's 91, and I could see the potential for greatness in this car. The reaction time was coming along nicely, and with each run, I felt more confident that we had it dialed in.
But just as things were starting to come together, disaster struck. As we ran our final pass of the day, I realized that there was no boost on twostep - a crucial part of the launch strategy. My heart sank, but I refused to give up. We tore the coupler apart and broke it, making it an easy fix for tomorrow's eliminations.
Despite the setbacks, we were still thrilled with our performance. Our first 95 run was a lucky one, but we were determined to build on that momentum and move forward. We ran a new PB at the eighth mile and a 93 in the quarter, putting us back on track for greatness.
As we wrapped up the day's events, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. We had overcome obstacles and pushed ourselves to the limit, and it paid off in a big way. Tomorrow would bring eliminations, and we were ready to take on whatever challenges came our way.
Looking back on the day's events, I realize that it was more than just about racing - it was about perseverance and teamwork. We had worked tirelessly to get to this point, and it showed in every detail of our performance. As we prepare for tomorrow's eliminations, I know that we're ready to face whatever comes next.
As we headed out of the lanes, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. We had made it through the day's events without any major mishaps, and we were one step closer to our goal. But as I looked around at my team, I knew that we weren't just racing for ourselves - we were racing for each other.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwell guys it looks like we are taking eroy to the track today for fl2k I had so many freaking people asking about this thing so I figured i' bring it by let some people check this thing out and there is a slim chance we might actually be able to fit this thing into a class so we'll see how the day goes we have qualifying today as well for the hatch we have two more rounds this is going to be the uh longest drive we've taking eoy on since we cut the body off of this thing it's about a 45 2our Drive let's hit the highway Boys oh my God that's keep everybody just making a quick stop at the racetrack for some breakfast I ran into a another rotary swap sidekick over here check this thing out you said a 12a in this one yeah 12a 12a that's sick you said this is your brother with the RX7 got the rotary Squad pulling up here that's awes awesome I actually haven't seen another sidick with a rotary in person a lot of people do the older Samurai so it's cool to see one just like Susie out here as well so this one's actually technically a Tracker with that Chevy badge on the side with the Suzuki Sidekick front end on it but same freaking car same exact thing it's all the same swap pieces and everything yeah tracker Sidekicks it's all the same stuff y all the same thing yeah that thing's sweet man all right guys we got eroy at the track here you brought it man and if you look real close at the windshield we got her in the 950 index so this was last minute super last minute this guy I know had a extra ticket and uh Kyle got to think and he's like you know what people's been asking about eroy and here it is I think it'll good that 950 might be pretty dang good so we got this thing signed up we're going to run it in the 950 class it has about a half charge right now I didn't have time last night to fully charge it and the drive down and everything but we have Chargers nearby I'm not worried this thing will still rip off midn to see it with like any battery yeah we'll see what it does it's still on the unplugged Performance Wheels with the Nitto Tires and we do not have the arrow body on this thing anymore I didn't see these man yeah dude we got the mirrors on there she's street legal see what this thing does this is our guy Ryan's Twisted T Miata over here as well he just got that thing wrapped up he actually used to have a different Miata that had an Arizona t- wrap on it he's known as minty fresh garage you guys have probably seen it in the past but now he's going with the Twisted t- wrap you know big Twisted Tea guys around here and he just got this thing wrapped came out pretty freaking sweet himself too bro yeah ite he's a rapper told him we need to we need to wrap the MR2 to look like a space shuttle get you a hat Terry yes sir you guys don't remember this is Terry with cinic did I say that right cinic the propeller for the airbat D we got to line up of time to get the boats out together yeah we do I need you to fuel our airbat out cuz it it feels a little sketch I think we need to I think we need to update the hle yeah I think get it there yeah either way I want you to ride it and tell us how sketch it really is I will stay cool out there man yes sir I can't wait to see what you do all right guys we got youo in line for the 950 index as you guys know rooy runs really quick it's been in the eights even without the arrow panels on it we do have the wing on there now which is going to add more drag along with the mirrors probably not going to really see a difference there but the big difference here is I'm not going to put it into the cheetah stance because I got a cut a good light so our 60t times aren't going to be as good as they normally are the tracks also not going to be as good as a private test session so I think if I just leave like normal and let off right at the end I think we'll be right around a 95 and go from there so try this 950 index out see how far we gety here I was trying to tell you your boy made more competition he's like Hey where's eoy at I like oh there's no class to run it in and then it got my brain thinging I'm like you know they're probably fitting that 950 index he's like no way don't bring it you're done dude hey we're right we're right there if you want to line up first round of qualify I got my onboard EMP wired up dang it so you I was really hoping to have someone in the 950s cuz I don't know what I'm going to run I don't know what I'm going to run either I know well cool good luck out there no wheelies d Jes freaking polluting out here dude polluting the air out here man your car do that just an LS George down here in the cars they call Rocky here's the interesting thing look who he's matched up with so we have all the noise on one side and we have absolutely none of the noise on the other oh my goodness Kyle Wade putting eroy not Leroy eroy in the beams with ls George and and Kyle from 1320 video he makes those shirts that say electric cars have no soul I watched him drive this one and smile all right guys first pass in eoy against LS George in the Blazer in the 950 index 99 is 95 wow Kyle's right where he needs to be 953 at 145 that was good damn boys 95 on the money let's freaking go I had a horrible reaction time but 953 at 145 out of eoy first rip not bad boys not bad I don't know what you did there but that's exactly what we needed 95 on the money dude what' you do anything special no I just I just went but it was super lazy on the lead that's why and I got to find out a way to get a better reaction time because the car was delayed when I let off the brake so I might need to put it in the drag strip mode but I just won't let it get into full cheetah stand so at least it has a good Reaction Time play with it a little bit yeah we got some more qualifiers so play with it all I know is we're going to be set with that one dude that was a good number man 953 buddy number two qualifier in the 950 index class with the with the Tesla man first hit man that is the only Tesla I bet at this whole event five it's a 52 you get the 53 yeah we did a 953 to a 952 hell yeah dude that's right where you want to be that was a good last minute idea it was man they also have Q3 from last night in stick shift we are currently sitting 23rd in the stick shift class which puts us in a kind of weird spot still so we qualified with a 95 I think we're going to be too fast no matter what now to end up in the very bottom bracket the number one qualifier for that is a 97 we don't know where it's going to end up but I think we're going to try to go for number one qualifier as close to top qualifier as we can in the middle 16 I think that's going to be the plan here because right now number 17 who is number one qualifier for the middle group is at a 92 which the hatch is definitely capable of and then we'd have the advantage of running the slowest guy in our class from there on so I think that's what we should try yeah for sure we're going to be in this class regardless we're already too fast for that and we do not want to go to that class yeah well like I said we're most likely too fast for this and we we never know if all these guys just start swinging and all these turn into 9sec cars and then these current 9sec cars turn into 8sec cars who knows where it's going to go but we're going to probably go for top qualifier in the middle 16 can send it that's the plan now all right guys we got the Hat in line for our first qualifier of today which is actually our fourth qualifier overall we are going to run a full pass on this one because we're going to try to get into that top side of the middle pack there uh the line's moving right now so we got to get this thing going I did turn it up a little bit more we're going to run it all the way out the back see what this thing does that's what we like to see boys 14 volts on the battery that freaking alternator caused us so many problems I guarantee that alternator has been bad for over a year because we had boost control issues in the past and I bet it was all attributed to that alternator coming in and out because it's been funky for a while but we've had the best voltage readings I have ever seen in a very long time in the hatch right now look at that 14.1 volts she got plenty of power get this thing down the track hopefully we can qualify with like a freaking 93 or 92 right here that would put us at the top and right where we need to be unless the other people go faster so see what she does dud what happened bro okay so here's the story I thought that track prep was a game well it's not a game took me right out of my shoes hold on so got a lot of people here today come on Hatch let's see what that new turbo can do wo let's go 935 at 139 woo follow boys thank you 93 at 140 that's what we wanted 136 again to the 60 foot I was hoping for a little more trap speed but we went hey that's our first 59 of the e8th at 115 we're just going to have to start pouring more power out the back boys but that is a solid time for us and that should put us right where we want to be we'll see how the rest of the cars do not bad boys we backed up the 136 60t freaking ripping out of the hole 380 330 and our first ever 5'9 to the eth mile coming out fast our fastest 8th mile officially in the fives but we need to for some more power out the back I was hoping for some more trap speed only 139 even on the old turn turbo this thing would touch 150 but it's still tame we pulled some timing out of it to keep it safe and we're still 10 15 lbs down on Boost where it should be out the back so now I can really start throwing some more at it and try to get that back half to match the rest of the front half and that short track with enough speed out the back will do a high eight she is capable so I'm pretty pumped with that I'm curious to see how many other cars improved see where the final ladder is and I know we're not going to be number one or two qualifier but I bet we're going to be in that top eight for sure in the middle bracket so we are getting some weather here there's a very good chance that will be our last qualifier until we go into eliminations tomorrow because they've had some delays but we'll see where we end up and we're just going to have to turn this thing to the Moon boys for eliminations let the hatch eat at least there's more room in it and I mean we got our 93 I think we're sitting right where we new Turbo's definitely working cuz you just got to think we ran a 935 and our Best Time Ever Was A 927 at 15 50 and you know we're less than a tenth away from that with 10 less mph that's huge the hatch is putting in work today yeah dude that freaking alternator solved everything old trusty I think what it is is this this Hood bro that you put back on it the OG Hood man yeah you know there's a little bit of the Soul left in this I think it was too clean and Kyle had to he had to put some OG stuff on it yep what's up man this your Trilogy performance with the KA setup here putting it work so as we was saying number one qualifier last year and then this year we're here playing around what did you just do 91 dude you might have messed up again we might have put oursel in Outlaw to RK dud identical to last year this guy was sweating bullets because he ran a 90 and he was worried that he was going to be the bottom 16 in the top class and have to race granis and all these guys and Q3 number one qualifier for the mid pack was 92 he just went a 91 you may have screwed yourself but we don't know yet we'll see you might end up being number one again like last year 93 so con grants yeah I just did a 93 I think we're good yeah hey you already know man yeah we'll see when that ladder comes out tomorrow I'm in the show I almost missed it it did a 1360 5'9 to the air I did a 5'9 too my my first five Y what feel like we going to race my first my first 5'9 yeah guys five is just five is there y oh yeah man well we may see you in our class or you might be screwed we'll find out good luck man thanks you never even been in the Tesla before have you a dude the last time I seen this thing it was all together and then I went out to Colorado I remember you telling me me you know you wanted me to ride in it before you cut it up but I just didn't have a chance to come back and now you're in it cut up now I come back and it's like fully cut up well uh put your head back a little bit and I'll give you a little baby hit we don't got much room here ready what the heck dude no way that that's so torky it's so torky I'm glad you told me to put my head back I don't need you smacking your head on that freaking aluminum seat like put your head back a little bit all right guys so they uh called us up again for the 950 index so they're getting lined up right now and I wanted to come back over here to the freedom Factory I just wanted to test a couple things on this road because I want to make sure we can cut a good light because is your head back again I'm explain this just giv warning so yeah if you're on the brake and I floor it the car doesn't move let me let me redo that here so brake car won't move it's not in cheetah stance or anything like that but when I let off the brake feel that delay feel how it's super slow and then it rolls in I don't feel anything super slow but yeah I get you know that delay watch watch my foot and then watch I'll come off of it and it it creeps out and then goes look oh yeah see that so we need it instant so my my plan here is if I don't even touch the brake pedal let me Focus down lining up lining up then you yeah so say I just I just barely creep in and then I not touching the brake and I might need to touch the brake to stop me let me and then but I need to come off it instantly and then I can just do that oh see see see no delay noay no delay there so I can't be on the brake I have to be so my plan is to just creep in barely and then and then barely light the bulb and then just go that's what we're going to do yeah that'll work hold on let me check it again I think I can let's say I'm creeping up right now let's hold the brake let's bump in let off yeah that'll work so I can use the brake but I have to make sure my foot's not on it or else then it does the weird delay thing see see that delay see how bad it is yeah it's super bad you still ran a 95 like that so still ran a 95 like that I'm pretty sure you're going to have to hit the brakes or let off at some point all right we're going to get this thing back in line it's pretty cool though huh yeah yeah I'm just going to keep my head back bro been sitting in the lanes for a minute nowo is nice and Co over there got the campfire going for him got that heater ready to take a nap dude feels so good in here man all right guys we're getting ready to go up for our second time in heroy here hopefully my launch strategy works and we can cut a good light so the reaction time is very important and if we get a good launch I am going to have to let up a little bit at the end so my plan is to let up at 1,000 ft and let it coast and see where that puts us because I want a good marker that I can see every time we go down the path so I can let off at the same exact spot and get a good feel of where I need to let up and just kind of see where it goes but this our only other run and then tomorrow it's elimination so hopefully uh this does what we needed to do and we go from there here we go 98 yeah he got out of it I think a little too easy God oh my God that was a wild ride got the hatch in line for the final run of the night guys we looked at the ladder after we ran the 93 right now the number one qualifier in our section is at about a 91 I think we mentioned that so we're going to try send it on this one I turned it up quite a bit we have uh just made some other changes that should help give us some more power including timing and fuel so we are getting close to curf you here I'm surprised we were able to get one final run in but we're moving ahead right now and we're going to see what this thing does and then tomorrow it's on to eliminations for fl2k so see what she does all right guys last run of the night let's see what we can do didn't sound like it came up on twostep wasn't making any boost what a grand finale zero lbs of boost the whole way down the track dude I was like there is no boost in that yeah right when it came up on the LI I just knew there was nothing I was about to back up but I'm like I'm I heard I'm just going to try I don't want everyone's trying to finish up I don't want to be that guy I'm just going to go down and it looks like think we tore this coup right here ripped her apart broke her good so at least it's an easy one but I would have really liked to get the data on that last pass I'm not too worried about it but we're going to get a new coupler put it on there tomorrow and send it for eliminations that's all we can do boys at least it's an easy fix yeah easy fix is what it is guys overall awesome day the hatot ran a new PB to the Eighth Mile and a 93 in the quarter so she's back ripping better than ever hopefully tomorrow we can really crank this thing up see what it can do and move on hopefully we can get eroy dialed in here as well for the 950 index tomorrow I'm still pretty pumped that we ran that first 95 in this thing that was pretty lucky but go from there guys freaking tired we're all ready to get out of here hope you guys enjoyed the video and uh I hope Emilio's neck feels okay after tonight so it is a little hurt man we're going to wrap it up we'll be back tomorrow guys for eliminations and go from there thanks for watching\n"
