Goodbye Jony Ive, Future of Smartphones, ARM MacBooks, 16K Monitors & more - ZONEofTECH NEWS #15
Display Manufacturers Now Can Make High Resolution Displays Without Standard That Could Drive Data from GPU to Monitor
Since there was no standard that could drive the data from the GPU to the monitor, display manufacturers were unable to create high resolution displays. However, with the recent development of new standards and technologies, these manufacturers can now produce incredibly high resolution displays.
High-Resolution Displays with Advanced Technology
Nowadays, display manufacturers can create high-resolution displays using advanced technologies such as graphics processing units (GPUs) and other specialized hardware. This allows them to produce screens that are capable of displaying high levels of detail and color accuracy, making them ideal for applications where image quality is crucial.
The Impact on the Display Industry
The ability to create high-resolution displays without relying on a standard that could drive data from the GPU to the monitor has had a significant impact on the display industry. This new technology has enabled manufacturers to produce more advanced and feature-rich displays, which have improved the overall viewing experience for consumers.
Philips Hue Lights: A Popular Smart Lighting Solution
Philips Hue lights are a popular smart lighting solution that can be controlled and integrated with various smart home systems and devices. The Philips Hue system is known for its ease of use, high level of customization, and compatibility with multiple platforms. This has made it a favorite among homeowners and businesses alike.
Bluetooth-Enabled Lights from Philips
Recently, Philips announced the launch of Bluetooth-enabled lights that can be controlled directly from smartphones without the need for a hub or bridge. This new technology allows users to easily control their lighting systems, but there is a downside: the lights will not work at long ranges without the hub or bridge.
The Importance of Hub and Bridge
While the Bluetooth-enabled lights offer convenience and ease of use, they also have limitations. Without the Philips Hue bridge, these lights will not function properly over long distances or outside the home. However, users can still purchase the bridge separately to overcome these limitations.
Apple Recalls 2015 MacBook Pro Due to Battery Safety Concerns
In a recent move, Apple has issued a mass recall for all 2015 MacBook Pros due to concerns about battery safety. The batteries in these devices have been found to overheat and cause burns and even start fires in some cases. There have been reports of minor burns and one report of smoke inhalation associated with the use of these laptops.
Apple's Recall Process
To address this issue, Apple has set up a process for customers to check if their device is affected by the recall. To do so, users can input their serial number on the Apple website and follow the prompts. Once the serial number has been verified, Apple will take ownership of the device and replace the battery at no cost to the user.
The Recall's Impact
This recall highlights the importance of prioritizing consumer safety in the tech industry. The fact that a company like Apple, known for producing high-quality products, can have issues with their devices raises concerns about the reliability and durability of certain components. This incident also serves as a reminder of the need for ongoing testing and quality control measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
Apple's Response
While this recall is certainly inconvenient for users who own 2015 MacBook Pros, Apple has taken steps to address the issue promptly and efficiently. The company has committed to replacing the batteries at no cost to the user, which demonstrates a commitment to customer safety and satisfaction.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwelcome deaftechnews episode number 15 yes who are already at 15 and this is going to be one really exciting video so so many topics that I'm looking forward to a lot to talk about the future of smartphones by the way lots of updates on that our MacBooks few updates on that as well sixteen key monitors are actually coming and some more unexpected news that I was not expecting to cover in this video at all so yeah if you lose your channel definite subscribe notifications that the bell icon so that you get notified as soon as a new video comes out and if you're not new to the channel then also enable the ballet con because these notifications are quite a bit messed up but yeah I've been able to bail you'll be notified whenever a brand new full video comes out so I get uh snacks ready and here's everything interesting that happened over the past week okay so something that I was definitely not expecting to add to this video was this breaking news that you all probably heard about by now and that is the fact that Johnny I've is actually leaving Apple yes the Johnny I've sir Johnny I've apples main designer that worked alongside Steve Jobs that helped design the iPod the iPhone the iMac the Mac books pretty much all the major Apple products that you see today have been designed by Johnny I've yes for the past 27 years he was he was the main the main guy design was and while we've seen a ton of people leaving Apple recently like until AdWords left earlier this year Jared Williams the third who was known for designing Apple's a series processors as left as well and a lot of high-end people from Apple's autonomous car prod could have also left in order to join Tesla so whatever's happening within Apple a lot of people are not agreeing with that and I can definitely see how ever since Tim Cook took over Apple's been focusing heavily on profits and dividing their product line up into as many offerings as possible in order to please every single customer but back to the Johnny I've leaving story he will actually be forming his own company called love from on which he will be able to design more than just laptops and smartphones like he will be able to design basically anything he wants and he will be working directly with multiple clients and one of those clients will actually be Apple yes Apple has announced that they would be actually love from first client so drive will we'll be involved in some other projects but not as closely as as when he was working directly for Apple of course yeah it's it's quite crazy when you think about it Johnny I've was responsible not just for designing all major Apple products but even most products that we have today in the world were actually inspired by Johnny is design like all modern smartphones today were inspired by the original iPhone all all-in-one computers were inspired by the iMac and all of those ultra thin laptops the ultra books of today are of course the MacBook Air of yesterday so Thank You Johnny I for changing the tech world and I'm honestly really looking forward to see what you'll be designing next and speaking of what's next in the tech world here is a really really cool one so Apple has actually revealed the world's first in-display camera yes I'm not talking about the in display finger reader that a lot of other smartphones use like the 1 plus 7 Pro for example or its Samsung Galaxy S 10 no I'm actually talking about a camera or front facing camera that sits underneath the display and unless you have a full screen national display the one that we've all been dreaming for yes that technology is is here I was expecting this to be ready by 2021 or so but it seems like we already have it and the way it works is that the OLED display on the top of the front camera is actually transparent and it can make itself see-through whenever the front camera is enabled so yes this means that you won't be able to have a full screen the camera in full screen mode like you can on a lot of other smartphones since the top area of the display needs to be completely off in order for you know the front-facing camera to work and upload let's say that the quality of this front camera isn't that great so yeah there's a lot of blur and reflections caused by the display on top and they're actually using software to try and reduce those effects but still this is this is an amazing achievement and guess what guys guess what xiaomi has also showed us the same thing a few days before op oh yes here are two smartphones but the one on the left actually has a front-facing camera built into the actual display panel so there you go the future of smartphones is already here and speaking of the future here's the future of the Mac so Apple has made a very important hire recently so earlier this week Apple has hired Mike Filippo to join their a series of processors team now Kisa know who Mike Filippo is he actually served as in Seoul's lead CPU architect from 2004 to 2009 after which he joined arm and became the lead ship designer at arm until 2019 and this is actually quite big because we know that Apple wants to move away from Intel processors in their Macs and have their own Apple a-series chips instead this way they can achieve significant better performance lower power consumption and decrease the manufacturing cost as well which won't really mean that the prices will drop but you know apples margins will probably increase now there was a recently Kleeman fourscore that showed an arm MacBook that was running on an apple a series processor this was a ten core chip running a three point four gigahertz that was really impressive and actually reached scores of six thousand nine hundred twelve for the single core and 24,000 240 for the multi-core that's insane guys that's really close just give you guys an idea single core wise this is higher than even the ten core IO Mac Pro and this is most likely going to the processor that would be included in the 12-inch MacBook now the iMac Pro with a series which lead up thinness Mac poem to 12-inch MacBook would outperform the at my pro yes we know that Apple is already working on this heavily so Mac OS Catalina's project catalyst is well the catalyst for all this for this big change and the fact that Apple has made such a big hire taking arms lead CPU designer to join their team shows us that's the CPU change might be here sooner rather than later okay next up I'm really really excited for this one so DisplayPort 2.0 has been unveils now in case you don't know what it says this play port is the standard that is quite different from HDMI since it doesn't send audio data however DisplayPort does allow for a much higher resolution output than for example HDMI does also the DisplayPort standard is built indiscernible three cables they actually use two streams of DisplayPort 1.2 and it's also built into well you know the actual DisplayPort cables and we display for keep I know we can actually output a 16 K resolution yes 16 K not aka 16 K at 60 Hertz also an HDR yes this is off of the same cable not only that but it can also daisy chain multiple monitors together using the exact same cable and in that case the highest dual display resolution is 8 K at 120 Hertz in HDR yes 8 K of the single cable all two monitors in HD are at 120 frames per second and probably the best part about this is that now that the standard is exist we will actually start seeing more and more a k' displays on the market and even 16k monitors at some point in actually the near future this wasn't possible before since there was no standard that could drive the data from the GPU to the monitor but now since there is display manufacturers can actually start making some insanely high resolution displays just like that next up you guys know the philips hue lights right well I do and I have a few of them at my home and we have a few in the studio and the office literally those lights behind me there Felix use and they're incredible I love them the app is very easy to use they're very bright and vibrant overall they're not the most vibrant by the way bulbs smart bulbs out there but a philips use that you have the highest amount of accessories you have light switches you have a ton of lamps that you can buy even directly from philips decorations all of those are supported by philips use also every smart assistant out there supports philips hue lights so overall these are the highest end lights that you can buy smart lights the only downside of philips you lights is that as well they're quite expensive the price isn't that great and you also need or need it at least a philips you bridge in order to control and connect those lights but now Philips has announced that they will be launching a brand new version of these lights that will have finally Bluetooth built in which means that this is this pretty cool this is the biggest upgrade that Philips you light bulbs have ever gotten this means that you no longer need that hub anymore to connect those lights and control them you can just control them easily from just your smartphone however there's a huge downside to this so without the Philips your bridge they would not work at long ranges and you will also not be able to control the lights from outside your home or even have location-aware features which is really cool you just walk in through your door and the lights turn on so that that's really cool but that thing won't work with with Bluetooth enabled lights without that Philips your bridge and the good news is that you can still buy that bridge because these lights still have the new models they still support ZigBee or Phillips Phillips use Wi-Fi so you can always buy the bridge afterwards and get extended range that location where feature that had before and everything else left a link for knows in the description and finally if you have a 2015 15 inch MacBook Pro Apple I just issued a mass recall yes Apple has discovered recently that the battery can actually overheat very easily and cause burns and even start a fire and in some cases for there being 26 reports of minor burns and 1 reports of smoke inhalation so all surrounding the 2015 15 inch MacBook Pro and because of this Apple has recalled on all of them but 432 thousand units that's not all of them but it's still a significantly large amount so if you do have a 2015 and 50 inch bandwidth Pro go to this page and input your serial number you can find that out by clicking the Apple logo and the About section on your rack and then copy paste that onto that website and then Apple will take your device in they will replace the battery and give it back to you and one to two weeks yeah one to two weeks that's that's really bad apple and it's very really bad especially if you have if that MacBook Pro is your one and only computer your main machine being without that for almost two weeks that's that's horrible I had the same issue when I took in my 2016 my GoPro I had so many issues with that I talked about it in previous videos but I took it in to you Apple and yeah it took about two weeks to get it fully repaired and you know it was broken again afterward so that was that was a mess and that was my main device so I actually had to use a 12 inch macbook back then but um yeah good times good times now let me the comments what do you guys think about everything that I covered in this something news episode especially Johnny I've leaving do you think Apple will take a 180-degree turn this time and you know turn into completely different company design wise or do you think that's you know they will keep making the exact same designs keep keep in mind that Johnny I've has also worked on some of the upcoming Apple products that we haven't seen yet so the the new Mac Pro redesign which is coming up very very soon by the way and that's probably next week lots of things I want to cover in that one obviously the new iPhone even the iPhone afterwards the 20/20 so Johnny I was still involved and a lot of products that we haven't yet seen from Apple but I think we're watching they're feeling subscribe unifications he found a seam or something news episodes like this one yeah think of watching check out the this week's videos in case you missed those I'm Daniel and I'll see you guys in the next one sothank setting outwelcome deaftechnews episode number 15 yes who are already at 15 and this is going to be one really exciting video so
