Setting up OS MC on a Raspberry Pi: A Step-by-Step Guide
If you bought a power supply with a switch, it's normal for the first boot to take a little longer than usual. This is because the device needs to format the SD card and install all the files. So, just give it some time to finish up, and it will automatically reboot into the OS MC interface.
Upon startup, you'll be presented with a menu that looks like this. From here, you can choose your region and language. If you're using a keyboard, simply use your arrow keys to navigate and press Enter when you're ready. You'll also need to choose your timezone and give your device a new name if you'd like. In my case, I'm sticking with "OS MC" and accepting the default settings.
After choosing your settings, you'll be prompted to enable the SSH server. Since I won't be using it on this device, I've disabled mine for now. If you want to use SSH, make sure to enable it instead. Next, you'll need to set up your network connection. Since we didn't do this earlier during the installation process, I'm going to set it up manually.
To start, scroll down to the "Wireless" option and enable your adapter. From here, you can choose the network you'd like to connect to and enter your password. Once connected, proceed to exit and look-and-feel options. You can choose between the OS MC theme or Kodi. I'm going with the OS MC theme, but feel free to experiment with both.
Now that OS MC is set up and running on your Raspberry Pi, you're ready to explore its features. Let's start by installing some add-ons from the main menu. To do this, scroll down to "Settings" and then find the "Add-on Browser" option. From here, select the repository you'd like to use and choose which add-ons you want to install.
For music add-ons, I'll just press Enter to begin the installation process. You can explore other options, such as video add-ons or sports channels. If you're feeling adventurous, you can search for more add-ons online. Once installed, you can back out of the main menu and find your newly installed add-ons.
Next, let's take a look at YouTube real quick. You can sign in to your account or search for something new. From here, you can watch YouTube videos on your Raspberry Pi. To play media from an external drive, navigate to the "Videos" folder and select your drive. From there, you can browse through your files and find something to watch.
For example, I have a 2 terabyte USB 3.0 Drive plugged in, and I'll just scroll through my files to find something to play. Ah, here's a 4K video that should work well on this device. Let me take a screen capture of it to demonstrate how to play media from an external drive.
Overall, OS MC is a great media center for your Raspberry Pi. With its user-friendly interface and vast array of add-ons, you'll be able to enjoy all sorts of content on your device. Whether you choose Kodi or OS MC as your skin, there's no denying the power of this media center. If you have any questions or need further guidance, feel free to ask in the comments below.
For those who want to get started with OS MC and Kodi, I've included some links to the official forum and Amazon page for everything you'll need to set up your device.

recommend using the three B+ but a two or three will work you're also gonna need a power adapter for the Raspberry Pi it's a micro USB N 5 volt 2.5 amps are better and finally for the PI side we're gonna need a micro SD card eight gigabyte 16 32 64 all the way up to 256 will work you can buy a kit that contains everything you need to get up and running on Amazon like I mention links will be down below you're also going to need something to control the interface on the Raspberry Pi keyboard and mouse works fine you can use an air mouse remote or a Bluetooth game controller I recommend a ps4 controller this part is totally optional but you might want a nice looking Raspberry Pi case one of my favorites here is the flirt case they offer the all-black version with the Kodi logo on top or
