Aston Martin V8 Vantage N430 tested

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enin many ways the Aston Martin v8 Vantage in 430 is a car for today from yesterday it's never green inspired name and paint scheme might well be new but its shape and feel are both cozily familiar and its v8 engine and 6-speed manual gearbox are similarly old-school in both their design and in their appeal so is the N 430 a mere dinosaur that needs putting out of its misery or is it something more than that are there lessons that can be learned from its back to basics engineering approach the N 430 is powered by Astin's faithful old 4.7 liter v8 engine and there's not exactly much wrong with that it has 430 horsepower and 361 pounds feet of torque and it weighs sixteen hundred and ten kilograms that's enough to send it to 60 miles an hour in 4.8 seconds and to a hundred and ninety miles an hour flat-out and the less said about its economy and emissions the better okay so I know it sounds like quite a lot of money for not that much car nowadays but there is something about the afternoon 4:30 that just has this lovely old-fashioned old-world appeal to it it comes from the driving position you really do feel as if you're sap really low right over the rear axle classic kind of GT arms out driving position and this this is very probably the last time Aston are going to make a cart with a manual gearbox okay flashing paddles are more efficient and better and faster etc but there is something really still delightful about doing a bit of heel and toe and shifting the leave yourself the engine is not the last word in sophistication it must be said but it makes a lovely roti throught the v8 noise and you have to love it for that it's also quick the end 4:30 I mean there's no question about that it's not you know he won't murder Abbey Road like a 911 Turbo but it is still light your hair up fast when you really put your foot down in it it doesn't feel that smooth rather top of the rev range if you really read it happens got proper talk for the performance there's also lovely amounts of feel through the brake pedal and it will do the Larry stuff just about as well there's an any car certainly 2014 there's just something about him 432 the main to be smile it can remain to me remember about yesteryear really it's funny is the complete opposite to a lot of the kind of German techno fence cars in that if you if you worked it out in black and white on paper you just go but it doesn't do this very well it doesn't write very well the gearbox is a bit notchy it's not that quick etc etc etc but it's just colours lovely cuddly field that this really makes you smile and surely that is just as important in fact let's face it even more important than the ability to go from naught to 62 miles an hour in two point something seconds which this thing definitely cannot do I still love it all the same though bottom line is they will not be making cars like this certainly not in ten years time PLAs be naive need five years time and I don't know you just kind of wave goodbye to it with a with a big old green basically youin many ways the Aston Martin v8 Vantage in 430 is a car for today from yesterday it's never green inspired name
