The Ultimate Driving Experience: A Review of Roof's Hyper-Modern Cars

When it comes to creating a driving experience that is truly unique, few companies can match the expertise and passion of Roof. This German manufacturer has been building and restoring cars for over 40 years, and their latest creations are a testament to their commitment to excellence. In this article, we will delve into the world of Roof's hyper-modern cars, exploring what makes them so special and why they are truly the pinnacle of driving experiences.

The Roof CTR: A Twin-Turbocharged Beast

One of Roof's most iconic creations is the CTR, a twin-turbocharged machine that is sure to thrill even the most seasoned drivers. With a top speed of 320 km/h and a rev limiter at 8,250 RPM, this car is an absolute adrenaline junkie's dream come true. The engine is a beast, producing over 700 horsepower and delivering a sound that can only be described as "glorious." When you put the pedal to the metal, the roar of the engine is almost deafening, making every drive feel like a wild adventure.

The Roof Strr: A Naturally Aspirated Singer

But the CTR is not the only car that Roof has to offer. The Strr is another stunning creation, a naturally aspirated machine that is just as beautiful and enjoyable to drive as its turbocharged counterpart. With a focus on the driving experience, the Strr features a suspension system that is designed to provide the perfect balance of comfort and precision, making every drive feel like a joyride. The engine, too, is a marvel of engineering, producing over 500 horsepower and delivering a sound that is pure music to the ears.

A Company with a Rich History

The story of Roof's company is one of passion, creativity, and a commitment to excellence. It all began after World War II, when the company's founder was involved in an accident while driving a bus. He ended up with a 356, which he bought from someone who wanted to sell it quickly. The owner decided to rebuild the car, and what resulted was not only a beautiful machine but also the foundation of the Roof company.

Years later, the company continued to grow and evolve, becoming known for its unique approach to building cars. With a focus on creating driving experiences that were unlike anything else on the market, Roof's cars quickly gained a reputation as some of the most enjoyable machines around. From sports cars to tourers, every vehicle built by Roof is designed with one goal in mind: to create an experience that is truly unforgettable.

The Car Behind Me: A Childhood Dream Come True

As I sat in the car behind me, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder and excitement. This was a machine that had been dreamed about for years, and now it was finally here. The combination of design, engineering, and performance made every drive feel like a wild adventure. I felt like a kid again, eager to explore the world and push the limits of what is possible behind the wheel.

The Experience: A Blend of Old-School and New-School

One of the things that sets Roof's cars apart is their unique blend of old-school design and new-school engineering. With a focus on building machines that are both functional and enjoyable, every aspect of the car has been carefully considered to create an experience that is truly memorable. From the handling and braking to the acceleration and sound, every element of the driving experience comes together to create something truly special.

The Price: A Steep Investment

But despite its many virtues, Roof's cars are not for everyone. With a price tag of around €725,000 before taxes, these machines are certainly not budget-friendly. However, for those who can afford it, owning one of these incredible cars is an investment that will never be forgotten.

The Tax Factor: A Complication in Germany

Germany has some of the most complicated and expensive tax systems in Europe, making it difficult to put a price on Roof's cars. As we sit here discussing this beautiful machine, I am reminded of the challenges that come with owning such an expensive car. The taxes alone are a significant factor to consider, but for those who can afford it, the rewards far outweigh any financial burden.

A New Car for the Roof Company: Another Addition to Their Collection

In recent years, the roof company has expanded their collection by adding a new car to the lineup. This latest addition is another stunning example of what the company can do when it comes to building cars that are truly unforgettable. With its unique design and incredible performance capabilities, this machine is sure to be a favorite among driving enthusiasts around the world.

The Roof Company: A Legacy of Excellence

As I reflect on my experience with Roof's hyper-modern cars, one thing becomes clear: this company has a legacy of excellence that spans over four decades. From the founder's humble beginnings after World War II to the present day, the roof company has remained committed to creating machines that are truly exceptional.

The Roof Company is more than just another car manufacturer; it is an institution that has earned its reputation on hard work, dedication, and a passion for building cars that are simply unforgettable.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this POV review by otel my name is Max and today we are taking a look at this incredible roofr and it is a gem this car uh last time round we drove their Yellowbird Omar car the CTR uh which is a twin turbo Beast with 700 plus horsepower this is the naturally aspirated version so it's incredible that rof sort of caters to both uh port strong suits you know it it's it's a really cool KN to Porsche that they're doing crazy twin turbo stuff and awesome naturally aspirated so we've got a 4 L boxer six in the rear and uh it makes a glorious sound so today I'm going to show you round it show you all the cool stuff on it and then we'll take it for a little drive on this beautiful road towards the autan for an autoban blast and also be sure to check out roof which is an amazing company they've been around for for more than 80 years um they do these crazy builds this is actually this platform that the yellow bird the CTR and this scr uh are built on is their own development for the first time completely carbon fiber monor it's a very cool family-owned company and they develop everything themselves basically so they've got a little production line where they are going to build these cars the Yellowbird CTR is actually limited to 50 uh they're only going to make 50 of those this you can still order this one it's not limited and it is freaking awesome uh they have an amazing Workshop they do Restorations as well and rebuilds of engines uh they have like crazy old Porsches there so it has been an honor to have been walking around there and taste the history that is there so let's take a look around the car because as you can see this is inspired on the 964 of course um but it is their own design and it is completely carbon fiber it has a carbon fiber tub with an integrated roll cage in there as well which you don't see which is absolutely gorgeous and they developed this chassis themselves and most of the car is actually handbuilt so it is ridiculousness ridiculousness is the best word to describe it so we've got these beautiful 19in Center lock wheels with uh carbon ceramic brakes behind that beautiful beautiful wheels and the spec of course you know that we love this kind of spec Irish green with a sort of a caramel leather interior absolutely gorgeous yeah it is so beautiful now the Yellowbird the CTR had this intake right here for cooling this car doesn't have that so this has a more of a classic body and uh it fits this particular car very very well so at the rear we've got a little duct tail spoiler as you can see where the CTR has this flat massive Wing this is a bit more subtle I really really love it so we've got this exhaust as you can see here uh this is made from inconel which means that they can make it super thin which means that it's super light and the material also resonates at a certain frequency which means that you get this high pitch noise which is awesome now because everything is made from carbon fiber uh the car only weighs 1,250 kilos you can even see the tub here beautiful and if we this is also this weighs like 300 G or something like that um and then in here we've got the 4 L boxer 6 which has been made to look like an air cooled engine but it's actually liquid cooled with a bit of Kevlar on there even some carbon fiber and then we've got individual throttle bodies and this massive airbox on top carbon fiber as well such a beautiful thing to behold um in there you can see the push rod suspension Tractive uh which is adjustable so we've got a little button inside to adjust that and well it is just insane to think how much work goes into developing uh this this type of car I mean it everything is bespoke basically okay so we'll close this up and we'll take a look inside okay so let's take a look inside where we find this gorgeous interior with that plaid fabric super old school and this gorgeous leather it just it's all made to feel old school while you know that everything is pretty freaking new school that is gorgeous so we even have 3D printed titanium pedals there that's how far they go in their development they they come up with this crazy stuff okay so let's start it up M very nice so so as you can see we've got a very simplistic interior with some very nice switch gear and this beautiful instrument cluster in front of me with all these nice gauges absolutely beautiful ref counter in the middle there and uh a nice little clock here it is very beautiful and then down here on the center console we've got this beautiful control panel with your nose lift and your traction control your phone stuff and music and then we've got the little button for the suspension here so you can turn it from 1 to 5 and uh this is actually done with the customer so it's not set 1 to five soft to stiff but some cars can be much stiffer and in one than other cars so you can just determine that yourself okay so let's take it for drive as you can see we've got this sixspeed manual gearbox here uh which is made for roof by ZF and we're going to lower the windows a bit because we've got incredible sound behind us oh oh man oh it sounds crazy it's like a GT3 but with an old school Edge it is so dirty and has that same like high pitched noise and that same deep growl uh down low at the lower revs it is an incredible incredible sound holy moly listen to that that is just oh man that's outrageous so we've got that boxer six behind might be uh which normally has 510 horsepower 47 newm of torque but this prototype car is currently delivering a little bit less than that uh so 400 something horsepower but so we're mainly here for the experience to see what this car feels like and already I mean this this car is so light I mean 1250 kilos it's just so light that it it's still a lot of fun to drive even with a little bit less horsepower oh man every input is just so direct and that's of course down to that low weight but also a testament to what roof was trying to achieve with this car uh they wanted to make like The Ultimate Driving Experience and even though the CTR the twin turbo charged one we drove earlier is amazing oh I don't think it can compete with that sound I mean that is so crazy it's so loud in here so red line I think is at 8250 RPM and that is just glorious it it is such an insane experience to drive this again I've said this before New School hyper modern basically super car underneath oh with an old school body on top an old school interior this is this is what it's all about I mean that CTR is incredible L fast and the Turbo delivery is beautiful but I mean it didn't stay my favorite car I've ever driven for a long time because I think this just won it oh my God this is ridiculous this literally has any everything I want in a car oh oh my god listen to that engine go oh man oh oh my God I'm having a crisis oh no oh no no I need one of these oh so the strr will do a top speed of 320 km an hour which is six gear rev limiter oh man and you will have a lot of fun getting there oh yes give it to me oh oh oh no no no so the only problem is that this is a very expensive car it's around € 725,000 before taxes and uh as you may know now we have some of the most ridiculous taxes in all of Europe oh my god oh back to the taxes we have ridiculous taxes so this car will be crazy expensive but oh man is it worth it yes it is that that was a very quick answer to a very hard question but yes so what you have now at roof is next to each other um you've got that CTR twin turbo crazy beast and this strr naturally aspirated singing amazing machine and these two cars are probably the Pinnacle of what you can buy right now new I mean where else are you going to find an experience like one of these cars like either of them I mean you're just not this is like a GT3 on Old School steroids basically oh it's quite empty behind me suddenly man oh man this company roof is it's incredible I mean they they have guys that have worked there for over 40 years and they have been building and restoring cars for that long I mean it's insane second gear here we go oh the throttle response is so immediate oh and you've got that insane suspension I mean I'm I'm just leaving it in one because it's freaking perfect but you can even set it more stiff if you want but those double wish boats it's got double wish boats and then you've got that push rod suspension it's amazing it it is ridiculous now the company actually this is quite a cool story the company actually really started doing this what they're doing now uh after the second world war ah wait I'm going to interrupt my story for a playmate so the then owner of the roof family was had built a bus a touring bus and he was driving around people on that bus and then a borche 356 crashed in front of him he asked if if he could have it and then he started rebuilding it uh and then they were driving it to Munich and someone wanted to buy it and they made a lot of money from it and that's how the company started doing what they're doing now which is just awesome oh my God what happen I just went completely quiet I think because I just found myself in a one of my childhood dreams I think I think I just turned eight and I was dreaming about Lamborghinis and Porsches and Ferraris and now I'm here I'm here driving this insane roof chasing a Lamborghini on the Tim man what is happening what has happened to my life I mean honestly how is this happening oh man and then you've got those carbon ceramics that just slow you down so easily because the car is so light and the brakes are amazing it it it just it all makes so much sense when you drive the car it all makes so much sense but to build this car from the ground up starting with a blank piece of paper is absolutely insane I take my hat off to you guys that Roo everyone who is involved in this company because you are awesome people and and I want to thank you very much for inviting us over letting us drive your amazing machines and uh I hope we will be able to do some more together in the future I'm going to end it here I think because it is getting a bit busy so thanks for watching hope you enjoyed it you can subscribe by clicking the big button in the middle you can also check out this video of the roof CTR if you haven't seen that yet the yellow turbocharged one or go check out this playlist see you at the next one bye guyswhat's up ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this POV review by otel my name is Max and
