**The City of Heavenly Fire: A Book Review**
As I sat down to review **The City of Heavenly Fire**, the fifth book in Cassandra Clare's beloved series, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. The book had been highly anticipated by fans of the series, and I was eager to dive back into the world of Shadowhunters and demons. But as I began reading, I was struck by how much I had missed - not just about the plot, but also about the characters.
I have to admit that when Cassandra Clare introduced Magnus's dad in **The City of Lost Souls**, I knew that this whole book was going to be about him. And boy, was I right! The entire book revolves around his backstory and his descent into darkness. It's like we've all heard about how evil he is, and I was dreading the fact that we were going to have to deal with it in this book. But I have to say, Cassandra Clare did an amazing job of making him a complex character - one that even I couldn't fully understand or relate to. It's like, oh crap, i knew when you started talking about his dad earlier without like we're gonna have to call on him at some point and it's gonna be sucky.
As I continued reading, I found myself thinking about the previous books in the series. I thought about how well-developed the characters were, and how much I had grown attached to them over time. And then, suddenly, we find out that Magnus is going to lose his immortality - and it's not just a matter of dying through old age. It's like, oh freaking crap! The first price will be paid, but of course the first one was gonna be madness - immortality so we're all like it's okay you know if he's gonna he's not gonna be immortal anymore thank goodness.
But then that is opposed by no if he's in immortality he's like 400 years old, years old so he's just gonna die through like oh freaking crap. And Simon steps up to the plate and says take me - we're all like what no! He's super young, so you think well he'll be okay without his immortality, but then you're like oh crap he's already dead. So if he just loses immortality, he's just gonna really be dead.
As I continued reading, the stakes got higher and higher. We learn that Magnus is going to lose all of his memories - four to six months later when Simon or Clary walks up to him after school and they talk, and he has no clue who she is but she knows who he is. It's like this crap just got real, real bad, real quick. I have to admit that it was a little disheartening to see Magnus go through all of this - but at the same time, it made me realize just how much I love this series.
The book ends on a high note, with **Clary's** mom Jocelyn and Luke's wedding. We get to see some adorable moments between Jem and Tessa, and we even find out that they're going to be heading to LA so that means they'll probably be the Dark Artifices - it's just beyond awesome! And then, of course, there's **Jason**, who says the name of Herondale, and I'm like all that's right in the world of the Mortal Instruments. It's just so great to see everyone happy again.
But what really struck me about this book was how well it ended. Usually when it comes to epic series like this, you expect some major character deaths - and sometimes those deaths can be really sad. But with **The City of Heavenly Fire**, Cassandra Clare really knows how to end a book without killing off any major characters. It's like, I'm not hating that at all. She just did it so well.
Of course, this means that the series isn't over yet - we still have **Allegiant** on the horizon, and I am so excited for it. We're going to see Tessa and Jem in action, and possibly even some more of the Dark Artifices. It's like, freaking awesome!
In short, I loved this book. I flew through it once I got into it, and I couldn't put it down. The series has always been one of my favorites - I remember finding **The Mortal Instruments** in a bookstore when I was younger, and being drawn in by the cover. And now, here we are, with five books under our belts and still so much more to come.
As for fans of the series who have read **The City of Heavenly Fire**, I'd love to hear your thoughts! What did you think of this book? Did it live up to your expectations? Were there any moments that stood out to you? Let's talk about it in the comments below!

could explode in the comments watch your watch at your own risk or whatever it's called now immediately beginning in the book we are greeted with a forever long prologue i was kind of confused i'm like who are these people who are they introduced us to like a bajillion new characters like a lot of the card stairs a lot of black swords but other people don't know it's like oh crap i literally had to have my family tree on the clockwork princess the entire time while reading this book like okay she's related to her through him and then he's related to him through her wait how did he be that was me i will say if you use this man use it to your advantage while writing this book i fell in love with little emma carstairs as soon as soon as i read her i could tell she was a fiery character that really wanted to fight and really wanted to do good and i loved her and i'm so excited that we're going to be seeing more of her in a like upcoming series called the dark artifices i believe coming out in 2015 so we're going to see more of her it's like this series never ends and i'm happy about it emma for being freaking awesome like for going all through that stuff at her age like oh i could never ever handle that you are amazing this book was literally action-packed i was kind of worried because i was like it's over 700 pages there's a lot of links to this book so i was like oh boy but there was a lot of action in this book which i was really grateful for because i love action in the moral instruments i just love reading about fights and all the stuff like that fight kidnapping drugging people and galore to your heart's content full of action the whole i think a lot of the action in the beginning this book was sebastian taking over like all the institutes and making his and darkened shadow hunters and soldiers or whatever so yeah let's take a minute to talk about sebastian and how much we all hate him he is one of the creepiest villains i have ever read first of all he's into a sister in more ways than one and you're just like ew what the heck it keeps giving her a second and a third and four and a fifth and a six and a bazillion chance to forget for her to join him for him like just be my queen rule this world together um take a hint buddy she does not want to become a creepo psycho villain like you just just walk away walk away the bastion is just i don't even if there was a word take all the disgusting words and put them into one and that is sebastian there you go now this review is kind of going to be scatterbrained because whatever it is what it is i really like i really like simon in this book now i might be the one of the only ones who didn't like simon early on it took me to about book three for me to really be a simon fan by book three i really liked him as a character really seeing his growth and stuff and i really like simon overall in this book i thought he was very strong and i love seeing him grow like i said i love his and izzy's relationship i think it's just because isabelle is like my favorite character i think throughout this whole series isabelle is just awesome if i could be one character in the series i would be isabelle like simon being a vampire i think it's really cool despite the fact that the dude's always hungry his veins are always popping he always likes about to faint or something and i'm like haven't you learned by now like you're a vampire you need to feed on blood go to the butcher shop get you a crap ton of pigs blood put it in your backpack carry your backpack around that way you can you know use it whenever angel and buffy did it you can do it too okay simon be a little bit smarter than just being like looks like i'm gonna have to feed one of my friends again you should know you're a freaking vampire come on who goes on a eight-mile hike and says i'm not gonna bring any water well vampire goes on like a three-day journey says i'm not gonna bring any blood i've got my friends the whole thing with the practice forgiving me if i'm pronouncing that ron proctor crackdorf all that kind of stuff was because sebastian was super mad he couldn't you know get to the london institute um never heard of tessa gray buddy she will destroy you like ruin you he takes it out on the proctor and jordan gets killed this happens pretty early on in the book i'd say like i would say have its own pretty early honestly i was like it sucked that he died i wasn't like overcome with grief i don't i don't know that much about jordan i didn't reread these so i don't remember if he was like a really awesome guy or really kind of a douche or something but i was just like huh you know this is the last book we're to see some deaths so you know with jordan i was like sad to see you go but it's not a huge loss in my book is that bad to say really connect with jordan like i said but i really felt for maya in this book because the poor girl was about to break up with that guy then he dies now she's going to be living with that for the rest of her life which sucks but i really like maya because i like seeing her be strong in this book being like fight that guy and take over the pack and do the right thing maya was awesome in this book in my opinion like i loved reading about her can we see the fairy queen unsealing silly i i don't i forget okay sleeping with sebastian and i think we all probably closed our books and said what the crap like what ew like ew vomit because it was just really freaking weird we're like okay they're sleeping together so they lose their alliance going on and once again my thoughts are confirmed to never trust fairies okay let me this is going off tangent a little bit i have two types of book kryptonites like books i cannot seem to like for some reason or another and those two book types are mermaids and fairies and i have no explanation why for these but i just they're my book kryptonite i haven't read a mermaid book that i liked and i haven't read a fairy book that i liked either i just i don't know what it is i think with fairy books it comes down to i just don't trust them because fairies do a lot of shady things in different books and different series i'm like why don't we learn why haven't we learned don't trust them don't trust them they're crazy and like when we learned that they had an alliance i was like this just confirms everything that i thought was true everything and we have that dinner that magnus luke jocelyn and raphael were invited to the fairy dinner and i immediately when i heard about the dinner i was like don't go this is stupid this is a trap don't go you're gonna like something's gonna happen like why am i the only one saying this don't freaking go and what happens oh they all get drugged and then they're locked up with sebastian oh then the creme de la creme of this book i thought was seeing a lot of brother zachariah aka gem i was like yay jim like we all knew it's been gem for a while if you've read the infernal devices and stuff but we finally got to see brother zachariah not brother zachariah more like the gem that we know happy with when jace put his heavenly fire in him and became gem again i was like gem now let's fight now let's be awesome now let's just be the gem that we all love and it was just freaking awesome i love that so so much so i'm probably fast forwarding a little bit they all get in the demon world like clary simon alec isabelle jace is that everybody yeah i think so and crappy things start happening immediately jase decides to jay sees this super awesome sword and he's like i think i won that and i think we're all like really that's obviously the most blatant trap i've ever seen in my freaking life and you're just going to go wrap the sorority signs like have you ever done it or haven't you played judge of the dragons and all that kind of stuff he's like i'm not a loser well this loser could have saved your life could have prevented oh crap that isabelle if you would have just listened to him chase sometimes she makes stupid decisions a lot of times so of course he grabs the sword and it's like a trap and his bow gets hurt and i and everything just stopped because i thought isabelle was gonna die and i was about to lose it because isabelle is my favorite and if she would have died i do not know if i could continue that book i would have been like that's yeah i would have yeah luckily simon swoops in a safe stay awesome simon saved the day a lot in this book and he helps her out and you know all this kind of stuff and luckily it's both okay i'm like gosh because isabelle is just freaking awesome finally we get to the moment the moment for sebastian to die the moment we all have been waiting for for like forever we're like finally this is gonna happen and this is gonna end and we're gonna stick it to you and you're gonna die i love the way cassandra clare did it he died in a creepy moment telling his sister to accept the throne and to kiss him to steal the deal and i'm like oh and then she just goes bam sword and awesome i love that i was like yes die you jerk and then he turns back into jonathan and then you're all like oh he's really not all that bad but i was like just just die just get on out of here just bye was i the only one i didn't feel like any remorse at all he was like i'm sorry you know i'm i'm somewhat of a human i'm like i don't care i don't care i don't give a crap just go i put that i had to put my hair up because i'm pregnant and i'm hot all the freaking time anyway so sebastian says jonathan does whatever so i'm thinking yes awesome end of the book let's do this i looked at the book and i'm like oh we have like 100 pages to go like what else could happen like then i'm like oh we're still stuck in this demon world that's right and yeah so time to call upon daddy magnus magnus's dad the one we've all heard about this whole book about how evil he is and i'm like oh crap i knew when you started talking about his dad earlier without like we're gonna have to call on him at some point and it's gonna be sucky and it was sucky of course to leave this demon world did the price be paid but of course the first was gonna be madness immortality so we're all like it's okay you know if he's gonna he's not gonna be immortal anymore thank goodness and al could be together they don't have to fight anymore it'll be totally cool and then that is opposed like no if he's in immortality he's like 400 years old years old so he's just gonna die through like oh freaking crap and simon steps up to the plate says take me and we're all like what no and then you think well he's super young so he'll be okay without his immortality and then you're like oh crap he's already dead so if he just loses immortality he's just gonna really be dead and then magnus is dead it's like i i could make his repeat again no problems we're like all right cool but he's like i want his memories then you're just like this crap just got real real bad real quick oh of course his memory get taken and that's four to six months later when simon or when clary walks up to simon after school and they talk and he has no clue who she is but she knows who he is but he's like here have a bachelor come out to see my band and she's like here's about you know whatever i don't i just want to go and then isabel looks at the van flyer his band is called the mortal instrument and you're like dun dun because simon is going to be a shadow hunter he is ascending it's going to be awesome it's going to be great oh he's not going to lose his memories he's going to get him back and it's going to be awesome and then fast forward to clary's mom jocelyn and luke's wedding we get to see jem and tessa together we get to see interaction we get to hear tessa and gem talk and they're going to go to la so that means they're going to probably be the dark artifices and you're just like this is awesome this is just beyond awesome then jason said the name herendale you're like awesome you have great heritage will hell and jail hello and you're just like all that's right in the world of the mortal instruments all is right book ended with no real major character deaths sure we have jordan i don't really don't see jordan as like a superman character count me wrong that's just how i feel so his stuff was kind of sad but other than that there was really no important pillar going to die and usually when it comes to like epic kind of series like this i expect some some deaths i mean look at harry potter death's on desk when testing that book sorry if i spoil that for you i didn't tell you who was going to die a lot of people died in that book so expecting some not a lot of character deaths just embracing myself for it and it didn't happen which i'm okay with but i was like expecting some i think cassandra clare really knows how to end a book with everybody happy i am not hating that at all looking at you allegiant looking at you the good news is this is not over yet like i said we had the dark artifices which is going to follow emma and her julian and i think we're gonna see tessa and gem in the mix so that's gonna be freaking awesome well i did love this book i will say once i got into it i flew through it and i loved it every second of it i love this series so much some people really don't like it some people do like it i will say i did find the series before booktube i remember seeing this in a bookstore and being drawn in by the cover and picking it up and loving it so i have to say this is one of my favorite series before i even started this channel and it will always be one of my favorite series and i will always have the fondest memories of it i'm just excited this book ended happy and i'm happy i'm not sobbing about it like other books ending but yeah that's all for me if you have read city of heavenly fire or any of the other books please let's talk about it below i love talking about it and that is all for me i will see you guys next time and look the sun decided to come out a little bit right as soon as i'm editing this video pesky sign talking about his dad earlier without like we're gonna have to call on him at some point and it's gonna be sucky and it was sucky of course to leave this demon world did the price be paid but of course the first was gonna be madness immortality so we're all like it's okay you know if he's gonna he's not gonna be immortal anymore thank goodness and al could be together they don't have to fight anymore it'll be totally cool and then that is opposed like no if he's in immortality he's like 400 years old years old so he's just gonna die through like oh freaking crap and simon steps up to the plate says take me and we're all like what no and then you think well he's super young so he'll be okay without his immortality and then you're like oh crap he's already dead so if he just loses immortality he's just gonna really be dead and then magnus is dead it's like i i could make his repeat again no problems we're like all right cool but he's like i want his memories then you're just like this crap just got real real bad real quick oh of course his memory get taken and that's four to six months later when simon or when clary walks up to simon after school and they talk and he has no clue who she is but she knows who he is but he's like here have a bachelor come out to see my band and she's like here's about you know whatever i don't i just want to go and then isabel looks at the van flyer his band is called the mortal instrument and you're like dun dun because simon is going to be a shadow hunter he is ascending it's going to be awesome it's going to be great oh he's not going to lose his memories he's going to get him back and it's going to be awesome and then fast forward to clary's mom jocelyn and luke's wedding we get to see jem and tessa together we get to see interaction we get to hear tessa and gem talk and they're going to go to la so that means they're going to probably be the dark artifices and you're just like this is awesome this is just beyond awesome then jason said the name herendale you're like awesome you have great heritage will hell and jail hello and you're just like all that's right in the world of the mortal instruments all is right book ended with no real major character deaths sure we have jordan i don't really don't see jordan as like a superman character count me wrong that's just how i feel so his stuff was kind of sad but other than that there was really no important pillar going to die and usually when it comes to like epic kind of series like this i expect some some deaths i mean look at harry potter death's on desk when testing that book sorry if i spoil that for you i didn't tell you who was going to die a lot of people died in that book so expecting some not a lot of character deaths just embracing myself for it and it didn't happen which i'm okay with but i was like expecting some i think cassandra clare really knows how to end a book with everybody happy i am not hating that at all looking at you allegiant looking at you the good news is this is not over yet like i said we had the dark artifices which is going to follow emma and her julian and i think we're gonna see tessa and gem in the mix so that's gonna be freaking awesome well i did love this book i will say once i got into it i flew through it and i loved it every second of it i love this series so much some people really don't like it some people do like it i will say i did find the series before booktube i remember seeing this in a bookstore and being drawn in by the cover and picking it up and loving it so i have to say this is one of my favorite series before i even started this channel and it will always be one of my favorite series and i will always have the fondest memories of it i'm just excited this book ended happy and i'm happy i'm not sobbing about it like other books ending but yeah that's all for me if you have read city of heavenly fire or any of the other books please let's talk about it below i love
