The Review: Rap SoL's Ultimate Screen Protector and Back Combo for iPad Mini
Hi everyone, this is Aaron from Xolo Tech, and we're going to take a look at Rap SoL's ultimate screen protector and back combo for the iPad mini. They were nice enough to send this along for review, so I thought I'd take a look at it.
I've used Rap SoL products in the past, and actually have a Rap SoL skin on my MacBook Pro that I really like. It's been there for over a year and held up really well. This is a very similar product to what they offer, and one of the things they make that I haven't seen by any other manufacturer is this really thin skin. In fact, it's so thin that it's already on the back of my iPad Mini.
The skin itself is not glossy; it has a matte finish, which is great for those who prefer a non-reflective surface. I even handed this to a few people and they didn't even know it was there until I pointed it out - it's really hard to see and that's why I like it. It does add a little bit of grip from slipping or putting it on a table, which is nice because the aluminum can be really cold and slippery.
This skin provides just a little extra layer of protection without offering impact protection. However, this added layer helps keep the device looking new. I can see that it goes on wet and, as you can see here in close-up, there's a cutout around the speaker ports and lightning connector. The corners are slightly different from the original edges, but overall, it looks great.
Putting this skin on is pretty easy if you take your time. It does go on wet like I said, so what you'll need to do is just take your time putting it down and squeegee everything out of the corners. It took a little bit of time for me to move it around a bit, but there were no problems with that.
One thing that's notable about this set is that it comes in at about $35 if you want both the screen protector and back protector. The screen protector, unlike many others, goes on dry. When you peel the backing off, you'll apply the skin to air bubbles, which kind of work themselves out, resulting in a really nice finish. It's pretty close to the original front and has a very slippery feel to it.
I've used these products on iPhones before, so I didn't want to put this screen protector on my iPad Mini, but wraps all asked me to take a look at them. So, here we are - taking a closer look at the back now. If you have any questions or comments regarding Rap SoL for the iPad Mini or any other device, please place those in the comments below. Love to hear what you have to say about that and be sure to check back when we have some more wraps or products to take a look at as well.
Thanks for watching this video, and I'll see you next time.
