2019 Google Home App Update & New Features

Navigating the New Google Home Application: A Comprehensive Guide

The new Google Home application offers a streamlined and intuitive interface for users to manage their smart home devices, access information, and get assistance from Google Assistant. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore the various features and settings available in the Google Home application.

One of the first things you notice when opening the Google Home application is the dashboard, which displays an overview of your connected devices and accounts. To add a new device or room, simply tap on one of the empty sections on the screen. This takes you to the settings menu, where you can quickly organize your devices and adjust their settings.

For example, if you want to manage your shopping list, you can access it by tapping on "Shopping List" in the main menu. As of now, you can have multiple lists, each with its own name. To add an item to a specific list, simply say "add [item] to [list name]". This feature allows for flexibility and organization, making it easy to manage your shopping lists.

The application also includes various services that can be managed through the Google Home settings. These include music, radio, TV, and video services. Under these services, you can adjust your preferences, such as changing your music stations or setting up a new TV show.

One of the most useful features in the Google Home application is the "More Settings" tab. This section provides access to various options, including language settings, payment methods, and device-specific settings for your phone. Under this tab, you can also find information on compatible devices with your Google Home.

For instance, under "Phone Settings", there are additional options available that cannot be accessed through the main menu. These include options for assigning reminders to other users or creating custom scenes for your smart home devices. By tapping on the "Learn More" button, you can discover more about these features and how they can enhance your Google Home experience.

Another useful feature is the ability to assign reminders to other people. This allows you to set a reminder that will be sent to another user's device if they have their account linked to it. To access this feature, simply tap on "Assignable Reminders" in the More Settings tab.

The application also includes a "Home" section, which displays information about your connected devices and accounts. In this section, you can find settings for your smart home devices, including lighting controls and temperature adjustments. One notable feature is the ability to set custom scenes for your Philips Hue lights, which will automatically adjust the lighting levels when triggered.

Finally, under the "Home" tab, you'll find a "Delete Home" or "Home History" option. This section currently displays an empty list of events from your Google Nest cameras and S doorbell. However, as this feature is still developing, it's likely that more information will be displayed in the future.

Despite its comprehensive features, there is one notable omission: the Explorer tab for Google Assistant. Historically, this tab provided access to tutorials and guides on how to use Google Assistant. However, in the new application, this tab has been removed.

To recompense for this lack, we've been redirected to a different section of the Google Home application, which provides an overview of compatible devices with your Google Home. By accessing this feature, you can discover more about what services work seamlessly with your smart home devices.

In conclusion, the new Google Home application offers a wide range of features and settings that make it easy to manage your smart home devices and access information on demand. While there are some omissions from previous versions, such as the Explorer tab for Google Assistant, the application has taken steps to improve user experience and expand its capabilities.

If you're looking to maximize your home's potential with Google Home, we recommend exploring the various features and settings available in this comprehensive guide. With this knowledge, you'll be well on your way to creating a seamless and efficient smart home experience.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enGoogle just released its full update to the Google home application in today's video I'm going to show you all the new changes and where you can find everything let's get started hey everybody welcome to tech with Brett where I help tech work for you so pretty much every year now Google has released an update to its Google home application to refine it change some things around and make it a little better and I'm actually really excited about all the updates that they have added this year so the very first thing let's go over kind of where everything has moved to so here we still have our main Google home page but you'll notice that down at the bottom we only have two different icons previously there were four so on this page you will have these icons to quickly interact with things we'll get to those in a bit and then you have your different rooms and devices that you can interact with then down over here on the other side you have this other tab which is discover and now this has changed from what the discover tab was in the past where now it's just showing you some new updates so here it's saying that you can make calls on duo with your nest devices and here you can change the volume on the Google home Mac's that I have and here I can press for the assistant on the original Google home so it's going to go through and just tell you about the different devices you have and just help you get to know your devices a little bit better so that is all that is on that page and then down here at the bottom of the application you still have quick access to the Google assistant just by pressing the mic icon so then let's go back to the home page here so before if you wanted to change settings of you google assistant and everything you used to select your icon at the top going into your Google Account Settings well that has now moved so now when you tap your icon that is just going to show you your full Google account it's not going to show you the Google assistant settings or anything like that but you do have some options here so I could add another account to the phone I could manage other accounts on this device I could check the home app settings so there's not much in here but I could change the Wi-Fi I could clear my location connect to partners and a few other things so not really much that you're going to be using very often so you don't really need to go on there much but if you do want to see your activity this is where it is located so my activity will show me things that I have recently used my Google assist for so it's going to open this up and give me a breakdown of everything that I've been using and you can even search and change the filter day there so all the settings have moved from there under this settings of your home and we'll jump into that in a second but first I'm going to go to the plus up here so when you select the plus it's now going to take you through the options of how you can add different devices or services to your Google home application so here you have the options to add things to your home so at the top we have set up a device so this is where you would add a new Google home or a new chromecast device and then down here is where you would link other services like a hue bridge so I just recently got my hue bridge set up I would come in here find hue bridge and then link my account and you can search through there and there are a ton of different smart home products that are compatible so that's where you add new devices to your home here is where you can invite other home members this is where you can create a speaker group between your different Google home speakers your Google Nest how smart displays or even your chromecast you can create a group speaker for audio and that is where you would do that so you open that up it shows you all the devices you have you can select all of them and create a new group now if we want to create a new home and maybe we have a different home that we have or a different area that we want to control separately from our own we can go in here and create a new home where we'd pick a home as well as the address so it can know about where that home is and give weather and all that kind of stuff and then here you can learn more about new devices so when you go here it's going to take you to the Google store and you can learn about the latest devices from Google now down in this section we have the option to link our different services so we can link our music and audio this is where you would go and set a default music service so right now I'm set to YouTube music and I pay for a premium subscription there or you could set google play music or whatever you want and some countries it varies but this is where you will go and adjust those services now there is a new option here where you have a radio so with the radio you can add other radio services right now they have Sirius XM and it's saying that I can get a free 90-day trial by setting that up so that's pretty cool and then down here we have the videos and photos so we can link our video accounts like Netflix CBS key stars and all of those as well as Google photos and then here we have one new option which is offer so I remember years ago there was offers whenever you got a chromecast you could get some cool little things like three months of YouTube premium or whatever and those went away but now we there is a new offers tab so this is good news that there might be some new offers coming soon with new Google products so stay tuned for those so that is where you would add new devices so now we're going to go back and look at controlling our home so here we've seen a few of these settings before but there are some adjustments so first we have the lights off so before these were a little smaller icons they're a little bit bigger now easier to read which is nice you have turned off all lights or you could turn off the lights per room you have the same thing for the on so you can turn on all the lights in our home or you can adjust per room now I really like that new addition and I like how if you have a Google Nest hub into that room you can quickly turn on and off the lights right from here without even having to go into the Google home application so that's pretty cool next we have the media button so before it was a play button you would select that and then it would just play around in music well now this gives you a little more function so right now you can see that there is this little equalizer moving up and down and I can actually go in here and I can see any of the media that is currently playing within my home so right now in my daughter's room we have rain Sounds playing and so I can control that right now I could pause it or if I really wanted to I can actually open this up and I could move that music to another room so that's a new update that Google has added where you can actually transfer what is playing to different devices so if I start music on here I could then move it around so let's play a video over here and try it out play Toy Story 3 so I started that movie from my Google Nest tub and here you can see I have controls but over here in the application I also have this new card showing that a movie is playing on the chromecast ultra so I have all the options here where I can pause the video I could change the location of the video and then I can change the volume down here at the bottom now this is one weird thing about the new update is if I want to move this cast to another device I can tap on here but there are no other Isis showing up I have the volume controls up there but that is it so here on the Google nest hub I have all the control options I can play it and everything but down here I have the same chromecast ultra button where if I tap on there it then gives me all these other options of devices that I can cast it to so here it says cast - and I could choose another device in my home to cast it - so I can move that stream so just like the music you are now supposed to be able to cast and move media from one room to another but for whatever reason that currently isn't working in the new Google home application so that will be really cool when it's there it's a good sign that this is here but for now that portion is not working so now if we go back we have one more tab over here where I can tap play music so before we saw a play music option underneath the different Google home speakers but now you have the option right here and so when I tap play music it then pulls up the list of all the different devices that I have within my home that I can cast - so I could cast to a signal device I get a cast to a chromecast or one of my Google speakers or a nest mini or whatever it is and then down here at the bottom I have my group so if I want to quickly cast to a group I can do that so let's take over the cast and we are going to cast this to the nest hub so now it's going to randomly start playing music over here on the nest hub and for whatever reason I don't really know what it's playing now I do listen to a little bit of marshmallow but it's pretty random not really close to my recommendations of what I would want to listen to but there you go it started playing music now if I want to move this to something else so I click this button and then I can choose a different location so if I want to move it to a full group or I can actually do that by voice I could say move this to the Lenovo smart display and so now and move that music over to the Lenovo smart display and you can see that right there and I really like this because at any time if something's playing in one room I don't exactly know where it is I can just open up the application I can see it right here I can pause it and I can close those different things that are playing on my network and there you can see that it close to right over here so I really like that new media tab now next we have the call home button so many times I'm out and about and I want to call home and talk to the kids but they don't have phones so I have a Google home in pretty much every room in the house and so when I click this button if I have set up that device to receive calls it will then begin ringing so this is what happens I select call home and then it will start ringing on all the devices in the home and here I could actually accept to do the duo call because it has the ability to show a screen or if it doesn't it will then just pick up like a regular phone call and it will just be using the duo functionality but I've really enjoyed that feature now I do want to give a warning if you have a lot of devices it's gonna be really loud and it may wake up the kids so you need to go into the settings and specify which devices you want to be able to have that calling functionality and you do that by heading into the settings here of your home and you're gonna scroll way down to the bottom and we're gonna go under more settings and this is where we find all of our Google assistant settings so we're gonna go to services and here we have voice and video calls and then here we have video and voice apps and here you are able to choose what devices receive those dual calls so this is when somebody calls my Google duo account or when I use the call home feature so right now I only have the nest Hub turned on so that's this device so no other devices in the home ring but if I wanted other devices to ring at the same time I could just come in here and turn those on as well so that's one of the cool new functionalities but now there's a new feature where any Google home device so a google nest hub of google home a Google home Mini or the Google home Mac's can now make google duo calls to each other as well as outside of the home so if I want to call a specific device in my home I just need to make sure this is on then I would activate the Google assistant and say call nest hub max it would then ring only on the nest tab max and whoever is in that room can answer it by tapping and then they can activate Google and answer the call so that is the new calling functionality so now let's go back and we have broadcast so this is very similar to what we've seen before you top on there Google asks for your message and then it will send it throughout your home next we have the thermostat so this hasn't changed this is where we can come in and change our support of the thermostat so I can quickly increase or decrease the temperature and then this is the nest thermostat and I can actually change from heating to cooling to heat and cool so I have all those options and then I have the option right here to jump into the nest application next we have cameras so if you have supported cameras they'll show up here so if I want to check out my nest hello front door I tap right there and it quickly loads up the front door and then I can speak to it now this is also awesome on the new Google Nest up max I can tap on here I can see into the room and then I can speak directly through the nest hub max so that I can talk to who is ever in the room and then next we have routines so when we open this up it shows all the different routines if we tap on one it will start that routine but if we want to change your routine we need to go down here to manage routines and then we have the option to add a new one or we can click on one and change those settings so that that's how you add or change a routine but if you want to change where the routine is playing on you would select edit up here so right now it's playing on this device but if I want it to play on the nest hub Speaker I would come here and select nest hub so that is how you adjust the routines now I have heard some people say that they aren't able to see the routines or some of these functions if you do go back into the settings and you scroll down here go into more settings and then you go to assistant here you do have the routines option right there so if you can't find it check there now heading to each device it's very similar to what we've seen before so if you have a device we open it up and we can turn it on and off we can then change the name the home it's located in as well as the room that it's located in so that's pretty simple but now we also have the option where if you have a light that supports color you can come in here and change the color without having to ask the Google assistant you can see all the colors tap on those and then it would change the color on that device or in that room so that's really nice to have now one of the main questions I'm going to get with this new update is how do i mirror my screen to my chromecast so if we tap on a chromecast device here we have an option down at the bottom that says cast my screen now it's no longer hidden in the settings but you just go into the chromecast you want a mere two and then here you have the cast my screen option and then you select cast screen and it will start and send your screen over to the TV here you have the volume controls and then here you can stop the mirroring right there now if you want to change your ambient mode there's a few ways you can do that now so down here ambient mode is how you can personalize the backdrop so I can select personalized ambient mode and I can choose different options down there and if you really want to you can actually now head into the Google Photos application select the menu here and now you have photo frames options so with photo frames you can see all of the different supported cast devices in your home and you can quickly add your own photos right from here so that's a cool little new function so if we head back to our device we can still head into the settings and here we can adjust the main settings that we saw before in a google home application and it will be that way on chromecast devices as well as Google home devices so here we have cast screen and we also have photo frame and if we click the settings that's our equalizer here we have the full settings of that device as well now one more thing I want to mention about organizing your home so if you already have like your Philips hue lights connected to your account you don't need to go back into here and set up and go through the setup process to connect few lights again all you need to do is activate Google assistant and say sync my lights any new lights will then be added into this section but they will show up here at the bottom so these are all new devices that I've linked I just haven't organized them so I would just come in here tap on one of those devices and then select add to a room and I can organize my home that way now lastly let's check these settings of the Google home application now this is where pretty much all the different settings have gone instead of them having mixed around they are kind of all organized right into here so right here under the settings if we go on here we have our different home options so we have our home nickname we can set our address we can choose our home members we can set digital well-being to control what devices have access to music or videos and all that stuff and then here we have notifications on what notifications you would like to receive so you can receive notifications from other home members and devices other product updates as well as offers so we can turn that on and then if we go back here we have all the different rooms in our home so if I want to change out some of the stuff in the office here I have a lot of devices I can open it up here I have the name and then here I have every device in here so if I tap on one of those it takes me to those settings and I can quickly organize it and then if I want to add new devices I can come down here and select choose devices so I have a lot of devices in this room but I could go through and add more devices or uncheck devices that I don't want in here anymore and then for whatever reason if you wants to delete the room you can do that right there so now going back and scrolling all the way down past all the different rooms that I have here we have a few more Google assistant services so right here we have the shopping list and as of right now it's taking us to the Google shopping application quick note on this you can have multiple lists so here I've gone in and created multiple lists the one tip I have for this is if you have different lists just name it one little word and then if you want to add an item to that list you say add something to that name so here's an example add bread to Costco so kind of an interesting way to say that but now I have bread in my Costco list two times so as of right now that is how you use the shopping list now next you have the different services that we already saw so if you want to adjust your music services radio TV and video you do that right there now here we have more settings so under more settings this is where you have all of your google assistant settings so if you want to come in here and change your payment your purchases or if you want to go in and change your google assistant language or voice match routines all the specific devices you can come in here the main thing you can find in here that you can't find in the other settings under the different devices is the phone settings so under phone so here on my pixel 4xl i get some other options that you can't find any other place other here in the Google assistant settings and then next we have services so there you have more options for services one thing I do want to mention that I just learned is the ability to assign reminders to other people so right here we have this assignable reminders option so as how this works is I can ask Google to set a reminder for my wife and then it will remind her if she uses that device so if I have her account linked to this device I could set a reminder and then later it would remind her about that on her device which is pretty cool so you can tap learn more there to learn more about how that works and then lastly you have your home so this is kind of redundant of what we've already seen in controlling your devices but it looks like we do have some other options we didn't see so in the baby room we have some new Philips hue lights and here it has added those different scenes to that room so if I said turn on dimmed it would then change the Philips you seen too dim so this is something that I didn't see in any other area so that's neat that that's right there and then you can come in here and adjust those settings as well now back in the Settings tab at the very bottom you have delete home or you have home history so right now under home history it's not showing anything but eventually this will start showing different things from my Google Nest camera so I have an S doorbell I have other nest cameras as well so it will start showing me different events here on this tab but right now I can go through and nothing really shows up so stay tuned for more info on that so that's pretty much all the adjustments and settings but there's one thing that is missing that was easily accessible before and that was the Explorer tab for Google assistant now there's actually a problem with the new Google home application and a pixel for Excel Google assistant if I tap Google assistant you used to have a little compass here where you could go into the Explorer tab well I have my Google tab here so I can go into Google and see more but there's no way for me to get to explore Explorer is where you can learn more about what Google assistant can do so let me show you so if I go to the Google home application over here on my note I tapped the assistant here I have the compass and now I can go through and learn more and search for what other services work with the Google so that feature right now isn't missing from my pixel kind of funny but hopefully it will be added soon I really hope this helped you navigate through the new Google home application so that you could really maximize your home to make it a helpful home if you have any further questions about this please let me know in the comments below and if you would like to check out my other videos about compatible devices with your Google home make sure you check out my playlist over there on the side thank you guys so much for watching I'll see you on the next oneGoogle just released its full update to the Google home application in today's video I'm going to show you all the new changes and where you can find everything let's get started hey everybody welcome to tech with Brett where I help tech work for you so pretty much every year now Google has released an update to its Google home application to refine it change some things around and make it a little better and I'm actually really excited about all the updates that they have added this year so the very first thing let's go over kind of where everything has to quickly interact with things we'll get to those in a bit and then you have your different rooms and devices that you can interact with then down over here on the other side you have this other tab which is discover and now this has changed from what the discover tab was in the past where now it's just showing you some new updates so here it's saying that you can make calls on duo with your nest devices and here you can change the volume on the Google home Mac's that I have and here I can press for the assistant on the original Google home so it's going to go through and just tell you about the different devices you have and just help you get to know your devices a little bit better so that is all that is on that page and then down here at the bottom of the application you still have quick access to the Google assistant just by pressing the mic icon so then let's go back to the home page here so before if you wanted to change settings of you google assistant and everything you used to select your icon at the top going into your Google Account Settings well that has now moved so now when you tap your icon that is just going to show you your full Google account it's not going to show you the Google assistant settings or anything like that but you do have some options here so I could add another account to the phone I could manage other accounts on this device I could check the home app settings so there's not much in here but I could change the Wi-Fi I could clear my location connect to partners and a few other things so not really much that you're going to be using very often so you don't really need to go on there much but if you do want to see your activity this is where it is located so my activity will show me things that I have recently used my Google under this settings of your home and we'll jump into that in a second but first I'm going to go to the plus up here so when you select the plus it's now going to take you through the options of how and then link my account and you can search through there and there are a ton of different smart home products that are compatible so that's where you add new devices to your home here is where you can invite other home members this is where you can create a speaker group between your different Google home speakers your Google Nest how smart displays or even your chromecast you can create a group speaker for audio and that is where you would do that so you open that up it shows you all the devices you have you can select all of them and create a new group now if we want to create a new address so it can know about where that home is and give weather and all that kind of stuff and then here you can learn more about new devices so when you go here it's going to take you to the Google to move this cast to another device I can tap on here but there are no other Isis showing up I have the volume controls up there but that is it so here on the Google nest hub I have all the control options I can play it and everything but down here I have the same chromecast ultra button where if I tap on there it then gives me all these other options of devices that I can cast it to so here it says cast - and I could choose another device in my home to cast it - so I can move that stream so just like the music you are now supposed to be able to cast and move media from one room to another but for whatever reason that currently isn't working in the new Google home application so that will be really cool when it's there it's a good sign that this is here but for now that portion is not working so now if we go back we have one more tab over here where I can tap play music so before we saw a play music option underneath the different Google home speakers but now you have the option right here and so when I tap play music it then pulls up the list of all the different devices that I have within my home that I can cast - so I could cast to a signal device I get a cast to a chromecast or one of my Google speakers or a nest mini or whatever it is and then down here at the bottom I have my group so if I want to quickly cast to a group I can do that so let's take over the cast and we are going to cast this to the nest hub so now it's going to randomly start playing music over here on the nest hub and for whatever reason I don't really know what it's playing now I do listen to a little bit of marshmallow but it's pretty random not really close to my recommendations of what I would want to listen to but there you go it started playing music now if I want to move this to something else so I click this button and then I can choose a different location so if I want to move it to a full group or I can actually do that by voice I could say move this to the Lenovo exactly know where it is I can just open up the application I can see it right here I can pause it and I can close those different things that are playing on my network and there you can see that it close to right over here so I really like that new media tab now next we have the call home button so many times I'm out and about and I want to call home and talk to the kids but they don't have phones so I have a Google home in pretty much every room in the house and so when I click this button if I have set up that device to receive calls it will then begin ringing so this is what happens I select call home and then it will start ringing on all the devices in the home and here I could actually accept to do the duo call because it has the ability to show a screen or if it doesn't it will then just pick up like a regular phone call and it will just be using the duo functionality but I've really enjoyed that feature now I do want to give a warning if you have a lot of devices it's gonna be really loud and it may wake up the kids so you need to go into the settings and specify which devices you want to be able to have that calling functionality and you do that by heading into the settings here of your home and you're gonna scroll way down to the bottom and we're gonna go under more settings and this is where we find all of our Google assistant settings so we're gonna go to services and here we have voice and video calls and then here we have video and voice apps and here you are able to choose what devices receive those dual calls so this is when somebody calls my Google duo account or when I use the call home feature so right now I only have the nest Hub turned on so that's this device so no other devices in the home ring but if I wanted other devices to ring at the same time I could just come in here and turn those on as well so that's one of the cool new functionalities but now there's a new feature where any Google home device so a google nest hub of google home a Google home Mini or the Google home Mac's can now make google duo calls to each other as well as outside of the home so if I want to call a specific device in my home I just need to make sure this is on then I would activate the Google assistant and say call nest hub max it would then ring only on the nest tab max and whoever is in that room can answer it by tapping and then they can activate Google and answer the call so that is the new calling functionality so now let's go back and we have broadcast so this is very similar to what we've seen before you top on there Google asks for your message and then it will send it throughout your home next we have the thermostat so this hasn't changed this is where we can come in and change our support of the thermostat so I can quickly increase or decrease the temperature and then this is the nest thermostat and I can actually change from heating to cooling to heat and cool so I have all those options and then I have the option right here to jump into the nest application next we have cameras so if you have supported cameras they'll show up here so if I want to check out my nest hello front door I tap right there and it quickly loads up the front door and then I can speak to it now this is also awesome on the new Google Nest up max I can tap on here I can see into the room and then I can speak directly through the nest hub max so that I can talk to who is ever in the room and then next we have routines so when we open this up it shows all the different routines if we tap on one it will start that routine but if we want to change your routine we need to go down here to manage routines and then we have the option to add a new one or we can click on one and change those settings so that that's how you add or change a routine but if you want to change where the routine is playing on you would select edit up here so right now it's playing on this device but if I want it to play on the nest hub Speaker I would come here and select nest hub so that is how you adjust the routines now I have heard some people say that they aren't able to see the routines or some of these functions if you do go back into the settings and you scroll down here go into more settings and then you go to assistant here you do have the routines option right there so if you can't find it check there now heading to each device it's very similar to what we've seen before so if you have a device we open it up and we can turn it on and off we can then change the name the home it's located in as well as the room that it's located in so that's pretty simple but now we also have the option where if you have a light that supports color you can come in here and change the color without having to ask the Google assistant you can see all the colors tap on those and then it would change the color on that device or in that room so that's really nice to have now one of the main questions I'm going to get with this new update is how do i mirror my screen to my chromecast so if we tap on a chromecast device here we have an option down at the bottom that says cast my screen now it's no longer hidden in the settings but you just go into the chromecast you want a mere two and then here you have the cast my screen option and then you select cast screen and it will start and send your screen over to the TV here you have the volume controls and then here you can stop the mirroring right there now if you want to change your ambient mode there's a few ways you can do that now so down here ambient mode is how you can personalize the backdrop so I can select personalized ambient mode and I can choose different options down there and if you really want to you can actually now head into the Google Photos application select the menu here and now you have photo frames options so with photo frames you can see all of the different supported cast devices in your home and you can quickly add your own photos right from here so that's a cool little new function so if we head back to our device we can still head into the settings and here we can adjust the main settings that we saw before in a google home application and it will be that way on chromecast devices as well as Google home devices so here we have cast screen and we also have photo frame and if we click the settings that's our equalizer here we have the full settings of that device as well now one more thing I want to mention about organizing your home so if you already have like your Philips hue lights connected to your account you don't need to go back into here and set up and go through the setup process to connect few lights again all you need to do is activate Google assistant and say sync my lights any new lights will then be added into this section but they will show up here at the bottom so these are all new devices that I've linked I just haven't organized them so I would just come in here tap on one of those devices and then select add to a room and I can organize my home that way now lastly let's check these settings of the Google home application now this is where pretty much all the different settings have gone instead of them having mixed around they are kind of all organized right into here so right here under the settings if we go on here we have our different home options so we have our home nickname we can set our address we can choose our home members we can set digital well-being to control what devices have access to music or videos and all that stuff and then here we have notifications on what notifications you would like to receive so you can receive notifications from other home members and devices other product updates as well as offers so we can turn that on and then if we go back here we have all the different rooms in our home so if I want to change out some of the stuff in the office here I have a lot of devices I can open it up here I have the name and then here I have every device in here so if I tap on one of those it takes me to those settings and I can quickly organize it and then if I want to add new devices I can come down here and select choose devices so I have a lot of devices in this room but I could go through and add more devices or uncheck devices that I don't want in here anymore and then for whatever reason if you wants to delete the room you can do that right there so now going back and scrolling all the way down past all the different rooms that I have here we have a few more Google assistant services so right here we have the shopping list and as of right now it's taking us to the Google shopping application quick note on this you can have multiple lists so here I've gone in and created multiple lists the one tip I have for this is if you have different lists just name it one little word and then if you want to add an item to that list you say add something to that name so here's an example add bread to Costco so kind of an interesting way to say that but now I have bread in my Costco list two times so as of right now that is how you use the shopping list now next you have the different services that we already saw so if you want to adjust your music services radio TV and video you do that right there now here we have more settings so under more settings this is where you have all of your google assistant settings so if you want to come in here and change your payment your purchases or if you want to go in and change your google assistant language or voice match routines all the specific devices you can come in here the main thing you can find in here that you can't find in the other settings under the different devices is the phone settings so under phone so here on my pixel 4xl i get some other options that you can't find any other place other here in the Google assistant settings and then next we have services so there you have more options for services one thing I do want to mention that I just learned is the ability to assign reminders to other people so right here we have this assignable reminders option so as how this works is I can ask Google to set a reminder for my wife and then it will remind her if she uses that device so if I have her account linked to this device I could set a reminder and then later it would remind her about that on her device which is pretty cool so you can tap learn more there to learn more about how that works and then lastly you have your home so this is kind of redundant of what we've already seen in controlling your devices but it looks like we do have some other options we didn't see so in the baby room we have some new Philips hue lights and here it has added those different scenes to that room so if I said turn on dimmed it would then change the Philips you seen too dim so this is something that I didn't see in any other area so that's neat that that's right there and then you can come in here and adjust those settings as well now back in the Settings tab at the very bottom you have delete home or you have home history so right now under home history it's not showing anything but eventually this will start showing different things from my Google Nest camera so I have an S doorbell I have other nest cameras as well so it will start showing me different events here on this tab but right now I can go through and nothing really shows up so stay tuned for more info on that so that's pretty much all the adjustments and settings but there's one thing that is missing that was easily accessible before and that was the Explorer tab for Google assistant now there's actually a problem with the new Google home application and a pixel for Excel Google assistant if I tap Google assistant you used to have a little compass here where you could go into the Explorer tab well I have my Google tab here so I can go into Google and see more but there's no way for me to get to explore Explorer is where you can learn more about what Google assistant can do so let me show you so if I go to the Google home application over here on my note I tapped the assistant here I have the compass and now I can go through and learn more and search for what other services work with the Google so that feature right now isn't missing from my pixel kind of funny but hopefully it will be added soon I really hope this helped you navigate through the new Google home application so that you could really maximize your home to make it a helpful home if you have any further questions about this please let me know in the comments below and if you would like to check out my other videos about compatible devices with your Google home make sure you check out my playlist over there on the side thank you guys so much for watching I'll see you on the next one\n"
