understand you yeah and then say I want some of the items on this list generally smart people are more depressed than most people so you should sort of factor that in cuz they're aware of things and maybe I'm speaking for myself again it's fine if you don't think anything is wrong you're not paying attention don't understand the situation but back to the list all the things we've picked some of them are things that we just think are cool and like we would like to see but a lot of the items you'll see on this list are things that we've used and that we actually really like we've either received them as gifts or we just happen to like them so as you can see we've got a big spread here I discovered while it's trying to make my list that I'm a terrible consumer because everything I look at I'm like I wouldn't recommend anybody buy your money on that yeah wasteful I'm definitely gonna have a disclaimer on some of the things that people have like a lot of this stuff is actually gifts that people have gotten me and it's like I would never buy this but I've totally bought some of these things for other people so I guess it's okay it's like what a gift is supposed to be though something you wouldn't buy for yourself but something you would like to have I think if we don't buy useless crap at Christmas how are our corporate overlords going to survive that do your part we're not gonna do this as a top ten list because we have self-respect this is just gonna be a random free-for-all yes and a no particular order and no particular order all right so what's what's first on the agenda well we should talk about the things on the desk Fair's probably oh yeah okay here we go left to right or right to left speak Oh crazy with ya notice that I took into account your viewers perspective when I went left and right and that totally was not ah tea set this is a nice like loose leaf tea step loose leaf tea why would you want to do this tea sort of a thing maybe I should do a video on it altogether this is actually from one of our viewers Big Al Tech sort of sent this in is I'm kind of a lazy person and he sort of was like you should do the loose leaf tea thing and I have another loose leaf tea thing in a very very long time but it's it's a nice teapot for making loose leaf tea which is far superior to all other forms of tea so it's completely self-contained there's actually like a little candle underneath it yeah you can use the candle to keep it warm or whatever if you're gonna do that but you know depending on what the tea is you basically heat the water to boiling or well no I don't want to say anything cuz there's no real hard and fast rule it depends on the tea I mean white tea and green tea you're only gonna steep for like 3045 seconds maybe a minute at most some other types of tea you might steep for five to seven minutes depending on how much tea you have and get to fiddle with the hot water so like you don't really want boiling water but you want water to be about a hundred eighty degrees Fahrenheit but ninety degrees C something like that so that's another video but an iced tea pot everybody can use an iced tea pot yeah it's nice and there's also my Captain Picard thing there which is also a present from I think buffalo buffalo got me yeah the cup that all my art supplies are now hanging out in yeah art supplies and and then what's this next thing I don't even know what this next thing is uh are you talking about the this wood so that is a oil diffuser I've talked about this a little bit on the stream you basically open it up you put some water in and you put a little bit of this oil inside of it by a little bit you mean like a drop yeah like five drops will do you good and your entire house will smell like a Christmas tree or lavender there's all kinds of different smells it's really cool it sup it has like a little bit of mist that comes how it kind of works like a humidifier it's not gonna cure your cancer like some homeopathic stores will tell you but it is actually really nice it's nice to fall asleep to every night I want seems a little too hippy for me it is a little bit hippy I'm really I'm willing to exact that it's a little bit hippy but it is also really cool and fun to watch I don't know that our audience is gonna get much use out of that but there could like if you're a basement dweller your place smells really bad yeah and it's that one time of year that people are actually gonna come and visit you it'll make your house smell nice and it looks really nice it helps you fall asleep the next thing we have is this really awesome Star Trek the original series communicator it's got a magnetic base there's a review of this thing online it's really nuts yeah it actually does that and so you know it's like what we got a we got a Amazon wishlist mr. Spock wait wait thanks no no that's Scotty it's literally everybody but Spock I like how it's every everybody that died I guess it lets you talk to dead people okay oh yeah well T yeah and so it's bluetooth so you can do stuff on your phone all sorts of fun things like that when you close it it hangs up on people but it actually makes a really great speaker and so it comes with a nice case and a leather a leather thing for your belt and all that kind of stuff it's insanely expensive for what it is but obviously it's really nice like it's actually really nice now if you have a lot of phone conversations on the bus or on the train and you don't want people to sit next to you Star Trek communicator yeah it is really fun to answer a phone call with it because people will just be like wow what it also beeps like when you get a call is just that it's really a lot of fun and we've got this this is a Nixie tube clock this is uh this was this is also a present but um this is in the lexan case and they also make different kinds of case so if art deco is more your thing you can get an art deco you know sort of metal aluminum case for it and that's my plan to put this in the in the metal case instead of the plastic case well not like a plastic case so this is you know mixi tubes are sort of ancient technology but it's also got a GPS option so you don't even have to set the time it just it knows where it is and it'll set the time based on that and it's kind of alarm and this is available as a kit and so you build it and that's kind of like this this is also available as a kit this one is right now it's playing space invaders and to tell you the time but it'll also play pong and tell you the the pong the time as a game of pong there's also about five other modes that are stored on the flash on there can be a death clock now the firmware that's running on this is a custom firmware from github so when you get this it's only just a pawn clock but since it's an LCD and open source and all that kind of stuff through so a lot of fun custom firmware so I'm running a modified firmware on there that's not completely not standard but you can get a copy of it on github if you want and I've also got a clock and I haven't put together yet which is a present for somebody this year which is a bulb dial clock from evil mad scientist calm so this has not put together yet but uses RGB LEDs and a stick in a cast a shadow depending on what color the LED is is is the the hand of the clock so that's kind of fun it's important to note if you're gonna get it one of these for somebody that goes to a public school don't take it to the school now we've got a couple of tool sets on the list yeah a couple of just sort of basic PC tool sets kind of boring but useful so if you don't know what else to get somebody hey that's pretty safe but we also got this is Wendell's cyber tool as it Victor Knox isn't Victoria dogs Victor Knox Victoria knows cyber tool you can see this thing is it's a fatty it's a monster you're not gonna carry this in your pocket but it's good designed for computer work and electronics yes so it's really cool it how many do you not know how many 32 functions 32 files so that's very exciting but it really does do pretty much everything you're gonna need when you're working on some kind of project it might not be you know like super convenient and comfortable using it but it'll do almost everything it's really nice I generally leave it in my computer bag and so it's like now I have to take something apart if it's something or whatever so it's always handy the airlines really good about losing it cuz I can't put it in my computer bag on an airline I put it in my luggage and then the luggage it's gone I say don't you have another one that just got lost because of airline luggage yeah now due to the size of that monstrosity you're not and it's heavy too yeah that's really heavy you're not gonna put this in your pocket I mean your mind but you probably should but in your purse now personally if you're a lady I love the Leatherman skeletal and its skeletal because it's a you know it's a skeleton it's not solid metal so it's really lightweight and the other thing I really like about this is it a full sized blade knife on the side you have to open it up in order to use the knife so it's kind of like having a pocket knife that's also a multi-tool so you get your pliers and wire cutter and screwdriver and ruler and so forth but very lightweight and you get the full size knife this is always in my pocket and I think the last those are your experiments to do with the tiny cannon that's the fun that you can have the cool thing about the tiny cannon a frequently purchased item that comes with it is magnesium strips and then if you look at the magnesium strips frequently purchased items with magnesium strips are aluminum powder and iron oxide powder you know what do you think about that people are making thermite from Amazon you can totally buy thermite from Amazon how cool is that we don't recommend that as a Christmas for yourself the cannons kind of an outdoor toy but it's a lot of fun they're really there are a lot of fun I have some of those as a kid and if you're not into combustion weapons you can also get the tiny trebuchet also on Amazon and that's fine you know it's sort of do-it-yourself project you can build a trebuchet relive those siege fantasies that's a WorkSafe siege weapon yeah there you go safe work safe sees what I mean you could take over the cubicles someone loses an eye maybe says you're surprisingly powerful I mean you can pack it with paper clips or boxes of staples or something and you can really really get some mileage on you know a marble or something you want to come on find the boxes of staples with the Gunpowder and deliver a frag weapon fine also on the Amazon least we get the I fixed it pro toolkit the I fix the kit is one of the better sort of all-in-one tool you I mean there's also comic books now it's understanding comics the invisible art by Scott McCloud I actually own this book it's one of my favorite books if you're interested in comics or in making movies or anything kind of visual like that I really recommend this book it's more about like the philosophy of making comics and how you can use things like line and color to change the mood entirely and it also has a whole section about iconography which if you're a designer I can't recommend enough communication on things that you can also do things like Bluetooth headsets but you know the overall theme of all of these presents are that there there's a sort of cleverness to them there's that there's cleverness and utility like you don't like there's so much just consumer crap that you get and it's like well I mean this is kind of cool and yeah I mean you definitely it's like meat and potatoes versus cake I mean they're you know every now and then dessert is good but you know you want meat and potatoes things and like a teapot is actually useful yeah Star Trek thing it's cool tell somewhat less useful these are cool as hell their timepieces everybody can use a good time piece especially one that says the time the jug is useful the jug is enjoyed is useful so there's a certain theme here and I think that that you know birds of a feather flock together are looking for these those are your experiments to do with the tiny cannon that's the fun that you can have the cool thing about the tiny cannon a frequently purchased item that comes with it is magnesium strips and then if you look at the magnesium strips frequently purchased items with magnesium strips are aluminum powder and iron oxide powder you know what do you think about that people are making thermite from Amazon you can totally buy thermite from Amazon how cool is that we don't recommend that as a Christmas for yourself the cannons kind of an outdoor toy but it's a lot of fun they're really there are a lot of fun I have some of those as a kid and if you're not into combustion weapons you can also get the tiny trebuchet also on Amazon and that's fine you know it's sort of do-it-yourself project you can build a trebuchet relive those siege fantasies that's a WorkSafe siege weapon yeah there you go safe work safe sees what I mean you could take over the cubicles someone loses an eye maybe says you're surprisingly powerful I mean you can pack it with paper clips or boxes of staples or something and you can really really get some mileage on you know a marble or something you want to come on find the boxes of staples with the Gunpowder and deliver a frag weapon fine also on the Amazon least we get the I fixed it pro toolkit the I fix the kit is one of the better sort of all-in-one tool kits it's got a lot of time warranty on the bits so if something breaks or whatever but the nice thing is that it's got the double and triple zero Phillips bits and four-way bits and there's some there's a minor difference between like the 4-way bid and the Philips bid it's just all kinds of complicated socket set it's also got sponging tools and disassembly tools for like iphones where you like and wedge it in and scrapers and a ruler and all sorts of otherwise difficult like micro tweezers all sorts of stuff in the iFixit tool kit it's a really really sort of handy must-have we don't have one cuz I lost it but I think I think there might be one and one of the tool kits downstairs somewhere but I didn't bring it upstairs but that's fine there's also some other items Oh what is the Star Trek yeah yeah the Star Trek a little baby drone oh yeah there's uh I can't this this looks really cool I don't know if it's actually cool somebody made an nc-17 oh one a drone that it's remote control if anybody gets one of those post a video on the forum because it looks really cool I saw the guy some guy made one out of foam and you get wasn't one 7:01 beam he put LEDs on it and he was flying it around the field and he's like yeah it handles like a refrigerator but it looks cool as heck on the video so I don't know we'll see send it our way we'll do a review we'll do the testing for you I mean there's also comic books now it's understanding comics the invisible art by Scott McCloud I actually own this book it's one of my favorite books if you're interested in comics or in making movies or anything kind of visual like that I really recommend this book it's more about like the philosophy of making comics and how you can use things like line and color to change the mood entirely and it also has a whole section about iconography which if you're a designer I can't recommend enough communication on things that you can also do things like Bluetooth headsets but you know the overall theme of all of these presents are that there there's a sort of cleverness to them there's that there's cleverness and utility like you don't like there's so much just consumer crap that you get and it's like well I mean this is kind of cool and yeah I mean you definitely it's like meat and potatoes versus cake I mean they're you know every now and then dessert is good but you know you want meat and potatoes things and like a teapot is actually useful yeah Star Trek thing it's cool tell somewhat less useful these are cool as hell their timepieces everybody can use a good time piece especially one that says the time the jug is useful the jug is enjoyed is useful so there's a certain theme here and I think that that you know birds of a feather flock together are looking for these kinds of things so there's also a forum thread to go with this and so our community should be posting all of their cool gift ideas in the community and so if you want more cool gift ideas should come to the community but if you have really cool gift idea it's like oh my god I can't believe you missed the NCC one 7:01 deed row and here's some video of it you can come to the forum and post that because our community is probably already doing all sorts of fun things so there's probably some sort of super epic mega thread on our forum to go with all the stuff that we just talked about all
