Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS – can a Cayman finally out-pace a 911 GT3 _ evo LEADERBOARD

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS: A Quick and Agile Tourer

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is a car that sounds quick, not just because of its name, but also due to its specifications. Powered by a four-liter flat-six engine that revs to 9,000 RPM and produces just over 500 horsepower, it's clear that this is a car designed for speed. But it's not just the power that makes this car stand out - its lightweight design, with a curb weight of only 1,400 kilograms, makes it incredibly agile and responsive on the track.

One of the most interesting aspects of the GT4 RS is its suspension setup. The all-round Wishbone suspension is fully adjustable, allowing Porsche GB's technicians to dial in the perfect balance of comfort and performance. In this case, they've deliberately set out the understeer to make the front end as sharp as possible, but left the rear end free to handle any oversteer that may occur during high-speed cornering.

The GT4 RS is also equipped with a range of advanced technology features, including Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires as standard. These sticky tires provide incredible grip and handling on both dry and wet surfaces, making the car a joy to drive in all conditions. And with its PDK gearbox, which shifts automatically without the need for manual intervention, the GT4 RS is also incredibly convenient to use.

However, one of the most interesting features of the GT4 RS is its ability to adapt to different driving styles and conditions. By pressing a button on the center console, drivers can switch between different modes that adjust the car's behavior accordingly. This includes a mode that disables electronic stability control (ESC) and traction control (TC), allowing drivers to push the car harder and get more out of it.

But perhaps the most impressive feature of the GT4 RS is its ability to respond quickly to changing track conditions. When drivers are pushing hard, the PDK gearbox can automatically shift into the correct gear without the need for manual intervention. This means that even in the most aggressive corners, the car will always be in the right gear to maximize speed and minimize wear.

Speaking of which, we set out to find out just how quick the GT4 RS is around the famous Anglesey Coastal track in North Wales. With its lightweight design and agile handling, this car was well-suited to the twists and turns of the track. And while it may not have had massive horsepower, it more than made up for it with sheer grip and traction.

In fact, our test laps showed that the GT4 RS is capable of dipping below the magic one-minute 13-second barrier - a feat that's impressive enough in itself, but even more so when you consider that this car doesn't have the massive horsepower that some of its competitors do. This just goes to show that with the right combination of grip, traction, and handling, it's possible to achieve incredible speeds without relying on brute force.

Of course, there's always a rumor about an RS.R version in the works - but we'll have to wait and see if that brings even more speed and performance to this already impressive car. In the meantime, however, we're happy to bask in the glory of what is now one of the fastest Cayman models ever built.

The name Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS says it all - this is a car that's quick, agile, and designed for speed. With its lightweight design, advanced technology features, and incredible grip and traction, it's clear that this is a car that's capable of achieving some truly remarkable speeds on the track.

the headlines we couldn't be aware of already like the fact it's powered by a four liter flat six engine that revs to 9000 RPM and produces just a whisker less than 500 BHP you'll know too that it weighs not a lot more than 1400 kilograms and comes on a set of sticky Michelin Pilot Cut 2 tires as standard and if you've already read the small print you'll know too that it's all-round Wishbone suspension is fully adjustable and that in this case Porsche gb's technicians have deliberately dialed out the understeer to make the front end as sharp as possible and who cares what happens at the back but what you won't know is just how quick it is around the coastal track at Anglesey so let's find out so to get the best out of the GT4 RS speed wise because that is what this vid's all about how fast is it around Anglesey where is it going to end up in our leaderboard lap table there's a fair bit of stuff to 50 toys you need to play with um I have been mucking about with it a bit and I it is quicker if you put the dampers in stiff in sports basically um it is also quicker if you press that little button down there and this little button down there to turn the ESC and the TC off the really interesting bit is when you press the pdk sport button because I'm going to show you this you don't have to even though you've got paddles and a brilliant pdk gearbox that shifts manually beautifully you don't need to do anything with the paddles it will work it out for you look watch I'm in fourth gear not touching the paddles it's gonna break how cool is that that's just gone from fourth to Second well via third just like that because it's sensed that I'm breaking it means it works out the road speed it puts you in the right gear for whichever corner you are attacking awesome I still prefer to shift manually because there's one place out onto the start finish straight where I like to short shift and obviously the pdk sport is very very clever but it's not quite that clever driving sideways is never the quickest way to go in any car but definitely not in this thing but it will do it foreign beautifully if you want to that noise is just feels like my eardrums are going to burst anyway yeah it will go sideways very very sideways in second gear third gear fourth gear fifth gear it it's faster if you run over the curbs but it does kind of bounce around a bit plus the suspension is adjustable on these things and I've asked Porsche GB to make it as pointy as possible because you don't want to understand anywhere around this track and if that means you have to deal with a little bit of oversteer manage the oversteer fine I'm happy with that I want the front end to be where I want it to be not just washing away with with understeer so all that's in place yeah it's not in place is my lid so I'm going to put that on and we are going to get the stopwatch out foreign foreign foreign quicker than the one we recorded on the 992 GT3 pdk due purely to the fact that the GT4 RS is that much smaller and more agile and just suits the twists and turns of the Anglesey Coastal that much better either way it shows that you don't need massive horsepower to dip below
