one of their most uh sought after phones since the time it's been launched now lots of confusions for all their devices that was recently announced uh this one again is a single core uh device it's not a dual core although initially we were told that it's going to be a dual core device but it seems that this version It's a single core phone so the first thing that happens uh the minute you look at the A90 is you remember the Samsung Galaxy S2 it looks almost identical it has a lot of identical features and uh honestly apart from the chipset set that is on the inside of this phone everything else is quite identical to the Galaxy S2 uh except for the price which is only 12,000 rupes about 12,500 rupees in the Market at present but it's going to be cheaper really really soon so let's go ahead and take a look at what sets this phone apart from the rest of the devices in the market so let's talk about uh the front of the device it has a front facing 3 map camera which can uh do uh video calls over view IP Services you do have an earpiece along with a bunch of sensors below that you have a 4.3 in Super AMOLED display uh this is a 800x480 pixel display it's not a 16 million uh color display so uh that is a big disappointment again over there you do have some on display buttons for ice cream sandwich that are on the device but nothing else below that is just a black empty bezel uh the power button is on the right uh the charging port is on the top along with a 3.5 mm headphone jack which is also located on the top for convenience of access on the left the volume rockers on the back is an 8 megap camera capable of 720p video image quality is pretty decent so is video quality you have a Micromax logo a textured back panel just like the Galaxy S2 and you do have a secondary microphone which is located over here with tiny pinhole and you do have the loud speaker over here so that's the exterior on the inside you do have a 1 GHz mediate Tech processor which is a single core processor and uh it does have a 512 MB of RAM and about 4 G GB of internal storage 2 GB of which is available to the user the minute you turn on the phone you will see this nice and Vivid AMOLED display now consider the fact that this phone is only 12,000 rupees or a little bit higher than 12,000 rupees and uh it'll make you realize that this display is presently unmatched at this price range so the display itself I believe makes this phone uh worth the money that they're charging for this you will see that it's extremely Vivid it's extremely viewable it's viewable from all possible angles very nice viewing angles on the display it's a very nice a very Vivid very bright Super AMOLED display very impressed uh with the fact that a display like this is now available on a smartphone so you can see ice cream sandwich over here you have toolkits very easy very convenient to navigate through that uh again daily navigation on this device no issues whatsoever it's very smooth very fluid you can see it just quickly closes all your running applications all your notifications are dismissed uh that's nice you do have an active task switcher over here and you can end all running applications by simply swiping them through and then you have no running applications remaining uh once you done with that if I go into the all application list you will see that a couple of applications have been pre-installed by Micromax including a WhatsApp download uh you have a Times of India application you have a couple of games um but that's about it you also have a full-fledged micromac store which is the m store and you can download their applications from there no relevant applications nothing really interesting comes from that uh but you do have that option now every time you tap on these three buttons you get a haptic vibration feedback so the whole phone vibrates ensuring that you have tapped on the right buttons uh quickly jumping into the dialer over here you will see stock Android Ice Cream Sandwich dialer nothing special you do have your call logs and your contacts over here um Micromax Care number is preloaded uh dialing from this is very easy once you do select call you can choose your default SIM card and then initiate your phone calls you cannot make make video calls over 3G from this particular phone and that is a disappointment for some people uh we've never really used 3G for video calling so I don't know but uh the fact that that feature is not available could be a disappointment for some people networks was strong on the Micromax A90 uh the earpiece is loud and clear and so is the microphone on taking back audio the speaker phone is also pretty loud uh when it comes to on during call Audio so it's a fair decent at that if I quickly jump into messaging over here and start a conversation you will see a very nice stock Android keyboard This is capable of uh uh quick typing and it does have predictive text as well so it works well and uh it also does have Google voice input so you can input text using Google Voice recognition convert it into landscape you will see a seamless switch and you get a nicer and larger or easier to type on keyboard the display is a 3point multi-touch display so most of the time when you're typing in you'll be using two fingers so it will be able to accept uh your fingers fast enough uh we are disappointed with the fact that it's a 3o uh multi-touch and not more than that usually companies nowadays give 4 point or at least 5 point multi-touch screens but this one is only a 3 point multitouch screen so ensure that you already know about that if I jump into the browser I'm going to quickly load up .in you are going to see how basic browsing on this is and we had no complaints the browser on this is based on stock Android Ice Cream Sandwich uh the fact that you have that allows you to download several other browsers from the Google Play Store including Google Chrome uh that install on this work perfectly but I'm talking about the stock browser right now I'm not talking about Google Chrome and the stock browser as you can see is uh just going to finish loading up my website I'll just give it a minute so as you can see see the full website loads up quite well and as soon as the website is done loading you'll see the fluidity of the kinetic scrolling uh very very fluid pinch to zoom in is also very fluid uh the fact that during loading time it doesn't do that is a bit of a disappointment but as soon as the website is done loading you will see uh that it's very fluid buttery smooth uh it does not reflow the text uh we did get a couple of questions from you guys if it reflows the text it does not do that so a big disappointment for those who wanted that uh but you can get several browsers from the marketplace uh that will do that for you again you can switch from portrait into landscape and uh the browser will continue I pinched out too hard so it went into uh tab selection and now I tapped on it too hard so it went into another page so let's get back to the original homepage now so talking about the browser basic browsing and even Advanced browsing you'll have no issues what do you maximum do you can browse all sorts of websites on this even play flash games uh limitation of 512 MB of ram limits you to the fact that not a lot of it is available free you get about 100 120 MB of uh memory free to use for applications that actually limits uh the usage you can download several games and processing applications but they don't perform as they should on this phone and you will constantly find yourself quitting applications and making uh the device run a little smoother so the lack of ram in this phone has really made it not as powerful as some of the other devices some of the 20 30,000 rupe devices available it does have a uh inferior processor as well uh but in terms of performance for the price that it is at it I I I honestly have no complaints okay coming back into uh the main menu again I said uh that you can customize the main home screen by simply dragging and dropping in widgets it's fairly easy just hold down your home uh finger on the home screen and you will get an option to change your wallpaper if you want to add widgets you can go into the widgets panel over here and browse through the widgets and just pick up one and drop it into the page that you want the widget on so if you want the widget on an empty page you can say shuffle all images it's going to make that widget and again you can move it around and fix it in the place that you want it to be at you can also delete a widget as easy as that now you will notice that on the top of the screen you have a constant Google bar it's the Google search bar it's always there on top it's the stock uh Google search bar you also have voice search actions uh if this device is upgraded to Jelly Bean it will get Google now as well an issue with the integrated weather application as demonstrated on the Micromax a00 the same issue remains in the A90 as well the weather app just kind of disappears so you can pick it up and drop it out and you can try and attempt to add it again from uh uh the widgets menu and it will restart but that's the only way to fix it talking about video playback uh we did have some issues and uh someone pointed out uh in the Micromax 800 video that the video we were playing on uh the Micromax 800 uh was a 1080p video but it was a very low bit rate video and we did try to run a high bit rate 1080p video on the A9 90 as well as on the a00 on the stock system you cannot run it uh but there are several applications available on the Google Play Store that allow you to run it at a lower bit rate on your device so you can run full HD videos in terms of standard video and I'm going to show you the quality of the screen and I'm just going to I'm just going to load up a video from YouTube this time around streaming on this is absolutely Stellar you have no I have zero complaints on how the device streams uh you can start high quality video and you will start to see the colors again like I said before viewing angles are absolutely brilliant so you can hold the device in a tilty fashion while laying down on bed and uh you will continue to see almost similar quality as you would from the front of the screen so let me play this and I'll load up the volume to the Max and what's happening guys so micro Max today finally officially announced the a00 the A90 and they also announced uh and launched uh really cool Ferrari 3G data dongle or USB modem or whatever you like to call it so I'm going to put uh these things aside for the time being I'm also going to get rid of the a00 for the time being and I'm going so you can see video quality video playback is very decent it's very smooth you will have no complaints even in high quality it does play 480p 720p videos natively and 1080p videos at lower bit rates uh can be played on the device natively but if you want uh High High bit rate high bit rate videos you will need to download applications uh we did do a full video on benchmarks so you can go to that video if you want to look at full benchmarks but I'm just going to run a quick quadrant Benchmark just for the sake of this video A90 scores in a 2309 on the quadrant Benchmark it does do decent uh GPU performance as well uh like I said before uh the the device does have arm V7 processor uh which is clocked at 1 GHz and uh in terms of the GPU you have a power VR sgx open GL GPU is slightly better in graphics performance uh when compared to the a00 let's quickly go ahead and play a game on this device but we were set up walked right into a death trap lost a lot of good men that day F need n up oh so even as I played that game I faced a lot of problems with the device simply because the touchcreen is only three-point touch screen so if I was uh tapping on the screen uh in multiple places it would stop responding and it would stop for example shooting for that game so you'll not enjoy gaming on this uh device as much uh but in terms of multimedia playback in terms of a good phone uh arcade games will work on this beautifully uh you do have a lot of applications it does have a very nice 8 megapixel camera camera and I'll be making a quick video on the camera capabilities as well I will show you the camera in this video it is a very nice uh 8 mapix camera it does do autofocus really really well and it has a really nice color composition uh on the outside as well as indoors so if you have a subject for example I have a Nikon lens cap over here you can see that it can focus really up close and it can give you a very nice image quality uh even in uh this kind of lighting it does decent imagery uh as soon as you click an image you have an option to share it via email SMS or even to Facebook via Bluetooth Etc all those things are here if you tap on this button it allows you to shift to video mode that does 720p video again you have some settings for the video mode that you can initiate from here you do get continuous autofocus in video and you can apply a couple of filters while capturing video uh which is really nice uh you also have something which is a panorama mode although you get a series of shots about 9 images to capture a panorama uh Panorama capabilities were not so great image Stitch that I did and you'll be able to go inside and see that uh it usually gives you a blurry image so if I'm in my Panorama Stitch you will see that it kind of left out in the middle panoramas are not evenly stitched so we're going to try and uh make a couple of beautiful panoramas with this and we're going to try really hard and I'm going to do a full camera tour as well but the camera as a standalone camera and as a standalone video on a device that's only 12,500 Rupees is absolutely brilliant you get 720p video audio quality is also good you have a secondary microphone for audio recording and it's very very nice uh in terms of the camera you can switch to a front-facing camera the front-facing camera is also pretty decent uh but it lacks uh White balance adjustment and it is uh not a very high resolution camera but for taking a video log or um even capturing uh some pictures or profile pictures it's decent enough so we'll have full camera samples and full video samples on YouTube and we'll also add a written review about the camera on our full review page so in the conclusion bit this phone cost 12,000 rupees it has dual SIM capabilities it has very solid Network high-end gaming uh you can tweak around with the phone a little bit and get it to work but it's a bit of a headache and I wouldn't recommend it for someone who doesn't want his phone to hang all the time so you don't get very nice high-end gaming it's not a very high performance phone but it's a nice a beautiful looking device uh for a price of 12,000 rup the display up front is scratch resistant as well and it does not scratch very easily uh we we've been using this extensively and manag to get zero scratches on the display it's still in its dark black glory uh again in terms of build it does squeak a little bit I don't know if you guys can hear that it does squeak a little bit and that's thanks to this uh plastic cover in terms of build quality otherwise it feels nice in the hand it's a really robust construction it's completely plastic uh but at a price of 12,000 rupees uh unless you get an HTC device with very low Hardware on the inside you will find that this device is absolutely brilliant especially uh the screen is stunning you can watch videos you can uh browse the internet beautifully on the display and uh you can do tons of things you can do full office applications on this uh we were able to read pen drives of uh the device but we were not able to read a hard disk which I tried which was 500 GB hard disk it does accept Bluetooth keyboards and uh all the accessories available for Android devices so you can figure out a way to put it like this you can find a way to dock it like this and then attach a keyboard a arcade games will work on this beautifully uh you do have a lot of applications it does have a very nice 8 megapixel camera camera and I'll be making a quick video on the camera capabilities as well I will show you the camera in this video it is a very nice uh 8 mapix camera it does do autofocus really really well and it has a really nice color composition uh on the outside as well as indoors so if you have a subject for example I have a Nikon lens cap over here you can see that it can focus really up close and it can give you a very nice image quality uh even in uh this kind of lighting it does decent imagery uh as soon as you click an image you have an option to share it via email SMS or even to Facebook via Bluetooth Etc all those things are here if you tap on this button it allows you to shift to video mode that does 720p video again you have some settings for the video mode that you can initiate from here you do get continuous autofocus in video and you can apply a couple of filters while capturing video uh which is really nice uh you also have something which is a panorama mode although you get a series of shots about 9 images to capture a panorama uh Panorama capabilities were not so great image Stitch that I did and you'll be able to go inside and see that uh it usually gives you a blurry image so if I'm in my Panorama Stitch you will see that it kind of left out in the middle panoramas are not evenly stitched so we're going to try and uh make a couple of beautiful panoramas with this and we're going to try really hard and I'm going to do a full camera tour as well but the camera as a standalone camera and as a standalone video on a device that's only 12,500 Rupees is absolutely brilliant you get 720p video audio quality is also good you have a secondary microphone for audio recording and it's very very nice uh in terms of the camera you can switch to a front-facing camera the front-facing camera is also pretty decent uh but it lacks uh White balance adjustment and it is uh not a very high resolution camera but for taking a video log or um even capturing uh some pictures or profile pictures it's decent enough so we'll have full camera samples and full video samples on YouTube and we'll also add a written review about the camera on our full review page so in the conclusion bit this phone cost 12,000 rupees it has dual SIM capabilities it has very solid Network high-end gaming uh you can tweak around with the phone a little bit and get it to work but it's a bit of a headache and I wouldn't recommend it for someone who doesn't want his phone to hang all the time so you don't get very nice high-end gaming it's not a very high performance phone but it's a nice a beautiful looking device uh for a price of 12,000 rup the display up front is scratch resistant as well and it does not scratch very easily uh we we've been using this extensively and manag to get zero scratches on the display it's still in its dark black glory uh again in terms of build it does squeak a little bit I don't know if you guys can hear that it does squeak a little bit and that's thanks to this uh plastic cover in terms of build quality otherwise it feels nice in the hand it's a really robust construction it's completely plastic uh but at a price of 12,000 rupees uh unless you get an HTC device with very low Hardware on the inside you will find that this device is absolutely brilliant especially uh the screen is stunning you can watch videos you can uh browse the internet beautifully on the display and uh you can do tons of things you can do full office applications on this uh we were able to read pen drives of uh the device but we were not able to read a hard disk which I tried which was 500 GB hard disk it does accept Bluetooth keyboards and uh all the accessories available for Android devices so you can figure out a way to put it like this you can find a way to dock it like this and then attach a keyboard a Bluetooth
