ASUS ROG Mothership Complete Walkthrough - A Surface Pro on Steroids

In that will supposedly remove background noise for you when saying smack-talking while playing a game along those lines we have a 1080p 30 frame per second capable webcam above the screen to stream with they can also use for Windows Hello to log into the computer for ports we have a lot of ports on the left we have a USB 3.1 gen2 type-c port that supports Thunderbolt 3, 3 USB 3.1 gen2 type-c ports, a microphone and a headphone jack and an Ethernet port but wait there's more on the right we have an SD card slot another USB 3.1 gen2 type-c port that apparently comes directly from the GPU and supports Virtual Link for next-gen VR headsets a USB 3.1 gen2 supports USB power plus an HDMI 2.0 port and not one but two AC power ports for the 280 watt power adapters that come with it.

Now the V-shape isn't just an aesthetic choice apparently Asus designers have been toying with this type of shape for about three years they apparently took one of their other desktop replacement laptops propped it up and tested how much better it air-cooled itself versus using it in the typical laptop form factor. Now because of no longer having such a small gap between the base where all the components are and the desk it was able to circulate they're far more efficiently and that's where Project Mothership was born.

Because all the components in the Rog Mothership are behind the screen and the two fans are at the back where it's quite open they managed to not use any sort of liquid cooling and squeeze in some crazy components first up we have an Intel Core i 9890K CPU that usually runs at up to 4.3 gigahertz when all six cores and 12 threads are in use but they give it to you overclocked out-of-the-box and are able to hit 4.8 gigahertz in turbo mode.

Same goes for the GPU which is the latest Nvidia RTX 2080 GPU that is eight gigs of Gd r6 memory and is famously known for its normal CUDA cores but also new RT cores for ray tracing and tensor cores for AI computing which translates to much more realistic gaming come on with these. We have up to 64 gigs of DDR4 for 2666 megahertz Ram which I was told is actually user upgradeable as well and we have three M2 NVMe PCie 3.0 512 gig drives with two of them directly attached to the CPU to bypass the DMI bottleneck that you normally have and enable speeds up to a peak of 8700 megabytes a second.

Beyond that we have Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802 Taleban 8x which is also known as Wi-Fi 6 which is the next-gen of Wi-Fi and you can't use unless your router has it which isn't terribly available just yet but it's good to have for the future. It also supports up to 2 point 6 gigabits per second for software. It's running Windows 10 Home or Pro and comes with the usual Windows bundled software you can uninstall by right-clicking any of it in the Start menu if you wanted.

Now since it is pre-production I wasn't able to do benchmarks but here are some benchmarks on 3dmark using that GPU only to just give you some idea of what it'll be capable of now pricing and availability but we're not told to me or anyone for that matter. But do check out the link below to my newly restarted tech blog The Unlocker Comm where I'll actually try to update that as well as post other tips and tricks and a bunch of other stuff that doesn't necessarily make it here to video if that's something you're interested in.

Also be sure to subscribe to the email newsletter on there it just goes out weekly it's not annoying I promise but it is exciting to see to me regardless because it shows how far we've come in such a short amount of time and also I'm kind of excited to see this new form factor being used for cooling for other gaming laptops that might be not quite as packed full of stuff as this one is but it'll be down in price and portability etc.

Now you guys let me know if you enjoy this what do you think of the laptop if we're calling a laptop we'd love to hear from you guys also don't forget to thumbs up this video if you liked it subscribe to the channel and ding the bell next the word subscribe so you get notified when I do new videos as always though regardless.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enpisar looks like a service crowd but as top-line sex reports graphics from the videos RTX line and RGB for days yeah this is the new asus rog mothership gaming laptop and i managed to get a little time with her right after CES and figured I'd do a complete walkthrough on it as best as I could with a limited time that I've had with the device now if you aren't familiar we walked in this channels where I try to go through every single feature I possibly can on a new device so you guys are better prepared should you mean them are going to actually go buy one now with that said there is a lot to go through so let's get started with the very unique styling so this isn't a normal gaming laptop clearly firstly it's about ten point three pounds and about one point two inches thick but when we get into what's inside that's actually pretty impressive but we'll get to that in a bit I'm about on a cnc aluminum machined chassis that I was told takes 20 hours to carve we have two buttons on the bottom that when you rest the computer on them and push down it Springs out the back kickstand now on this pre-production model it seems to have three different stances but I'm told that the final unit will be a little bit more adjustable once that's laid out we can unfold the front to reveal the 17 inch 1080p 144 Hertz three millisecond response time IPS display that is apparently 100% sRGB color accurate and our mostly CNC machined aluminum keyboard that keyboard is an RGB perky chiclet style keyboard they can be adjusted using Asus is built in our a program with 2.5 millimeters of travel distance and a pretty neat party trick it can be used connected like this or you can disconnect it and fold the top half back to use it wirelessly which also reveals a USB C port at the top of the keyboard for you to plug it in via USB C to the computer if you want instead of using the 2.4 gigahertz Wi-Fi connection that is used otherwise now this paired with the adjustable kickstand actually makes for a pretty customizable setup in terms of the position in which you can use asus has also added they're sort of becoming de-facto trackpad number pad combo that could be switched between either with the tap of this button when you do remove the keyboard you get a better look at the four front facing speakers that utilize a saber DAC and smart amps to do high res 24 bit 192 kilobit per second audio we also have our front grill that is obviously ARRA enabled and yes before you ask it can be synced with the keyboard along with customizing and a ton of other ways and we can alter the performance of the machine too for that matter in the armory crate program that Asus pre installs we also have array microphones built-in that will supposedly remove background noise for you when your say smack-talking while playing a game and along those lines we have a 1080p 30 frame per second capable webcam above the screen to stream with they can also
