The Mr2 Is Going TWIN TURBO! Can Two Ebay Turbos Make 1000hp

The upcoming Mountain Race Week has arrived, and I'll be dedicating some time to hang out with everyone before they take off tomorrow or Saturday. As the event approaches, I'm not sure if I'll have the opportunity to work on my project, but I'm excited to share that it's coming along.

I've been experimenting with V-twin eBay turbos, a concept that Brent has been convincing me to try for a long time. Todd CRX has already proven that these twin eBay turbos can make good power, and they're cheaper than running a big single turbocharger. The manifold might be more complicated, but it's a unique setup that not many people have attempted. I'm eager to see how this will turn out, as I believe it's a really cool concept. Brent is also excited about the project, having always suggested that I try putting two of these turbos on a motor.

The MR2 has been my main focus for now, and I've been waiting for what feels like an eternity to get started on this project. With its unique setup, it's sure to be an interesting ride. The car has been sitting in the garage, awaiting its rebirth, with the stock transmission installed but not ready to hit the track. This has been a long-standing issue, as the first gear was damaged during a previous outing, and I've had to send the input shaft and gear to Sainz for remaking.

The MR2 is going to be showcased in an upcoming video, which will give fans a glimpse into its capabilities. The video has already gained some attention, with many guessing that the twin turbos would be part of the setup. As I read through the comments, I realized that some of you guys had correctly guessed it before I even posted the video. Well done to those who were able to figure it out!

In other news, the Route C has been missing from the scene for quite some time. The car has been installed with a new stock transmission, but it's not ready to take on the track just yet. With over 20,000 likes required for the video to reach the next level, I'll be keeping an eye out for that milestone. If you want to see the Route C come back online, you can check out the upcoming video.

Finally, some exciting news about the Hatch: it's been missing from our channel for a while now, but rest assured that it's not gone forever. With plans in the works to get the hatch back on the road, fans of the car can look forward to seeing it make a comeback soon. It won't be the same face as before, though – some changes are in store for this iconic vehicle.

As I wrap up for tonight, I want to thank everyone who has been following our channel and engaging with our content. There's plenty more to come, so stay tuned!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey God are going to I blew mind up and got it back together you have more to silly that I know my mind still those are on dude maybe next week I mean by helping with it at least you got this thing back that'd be good you did that for the o2 sensor right yeah you can see both banks oh yeah yeah that's one reason why the exhaust looks ridiculous like that dude people are gonna be like what the hell is that yeah I mean I was gonna do it over off that side but then one of them went way over the intake manifold in them as long as he'll look goofy so I ditched that idea and then I just thought screw it it already looks ridiculous - Oh make it more ridiculous but right in the middle of functional now yes now you got your 102 in the middle but at least she's running dude I got her back up and going back on the dyno Saturday don't go for over 700 this time maybe just a solid 600 and play with it yeah 600 for now but now has better internals so it can handle it yeah yeah stronger odds than the last one yeah basically the whole motors basically why I mean I helped but he basically did everything so this is one of the special to wit special whit special so we have backed it in what's up guys right now I'm out my house you can see we got the hatch in router C just chilling back there and today we are finally going to be working on a turbo manifold for the mr2 so I went to the shop this morning got this thing loaded up on the trailer and brought it over to my place and today Hayden is going to be helping me whip that thing out so that is the next step to get done on this thing and I don't really know how to go about telling you guys this you know we got one of the spooly boys right here we got a head flange got a wastegate flange d3 flange for the turbo we got a whole bunch of elbows right here we got some schedule 40 straight down there on the floor and some of you guys have seen this in the background - cletus's video so there was a little bit of a spoiler there but you know I'm just gonna go ahead and say it we don't just have one spooly boy we have two that's right we're putting two spooly boys on the mr2 these are the same GT 3582 RS that we have on the hatch we have one on the route I see I had one on this car when it made 450 and we have used these on everything and we know these turbos are capable of making seven to eight hundred horsepower by themselves also todd has these on his CRX he has two of them on there I've witnessed these put down 960 horsepower on the dyno when Brent was at the old shop that's what Todd said it made before and then just recently it did a quick 900 and Todd actually just ran a nine six on the twin-turbo setup on low boost and that was a second pass ever with the car like with a clean pass and I know these are capable of a lot of power and I could have easily just went with a big single on this thing and be done with it but I thought it would be some good old booster boys fashioned just to go with the same eBay turbo that we've always used but instead of just having one will have to I'm just gonna experiment with this guys I think it's gonna come out sick we got a whole bunch of cool ideas to do the exhaust and just everything like that and if this doesn't work out for me in the long run like if I'm not happy with the setup it's not a big deal for me just to take that off we can whip out a new manifold and I'll just go with a big single but I don't know guys twin turbos I think that's pretty cool that's what I want to do and today if we're gonna start making the manifold for these things and we'll see how it goes have you ever made a twin turbo manifold before I have not no this would be the first yeah it should be pretty simple though yeah collectors nice and easy just really getting them in the right places it's gonna be the hardest part just make sure that they look good yeah I mean I think it's just gonna be sick either way I mean I hope you guys are really excited because I am this is gonna be sick it's gonna be different and I want to see what these things can do it like 40 pounds so I'm hoping these puppies can put down at least a thousand wheel when it's all said and done and these turbos are actually going to be going on Todd CRX these exact ones these say PFI speed on them these are some that Brent ordered and I actually have another pair coming for me that has boosted boys on them and I'm just using these two for mock up today but Todd ones these for his cars for backup but yeah I guess let's just go ahead and get right into it I didn't know how else to surprise you guys other than just letting the cat out of the bag right away in the intro I mean I can't really hide the fact because now what we need to do is we're gonna use Hayden's a little holder thing we already got it right here on the car he uses this to hold the turbos in place we're just gonna do them one at a time we'll hold one up where we want it on this side we'll hold the other one up and then just make our runners you know to hold each one as we go and just go from there we've already put a lot of thought into this we already kind of mapped out where we want everything so it's not like we're running into this blind I've been planning on doing this to this car ever since I pulled the motor out Brett has always suggested trying to of these eBay turbos and seeing what they can do and I know Brent is really excited to see the results as well but yeah I guess let's just go ahead and get right into it we'll see how far we can get today yep get these spooly boys spooling and that's gonna be it guys the mr2 is going twin turbo twin turbos bro yeah or we could just put that thing on there and that's how we do it how big is this we're good for a thousand uh this is AVS racing as 480 Jesus yeah Hayden won this thing in a freaking giveaway on Facebook well lucky bastard dude $40.00 hairs so it's brand new that's the thing though is like I like I like two twins I like the ebay turbos I like the eBay twins they're they're cool so I don't know I don't know if I sell this and do GD 35s ever want to go bigger power or just put this on put the hood back on I'm not sure you can let me have it I'll put it on the minivan - I'll do you proud I'd be so curious to see if it's bulls like it's huge Jesus dude yeah is huge like honestly think your Honda would have a hard time spooling this that's alright well slap it on the minivan we'll give it 200 shot of nitrous for the shot and we'll get the kids to school on time Wow all right so we're making pretty good progress so far we got Hayden's little turbo holder thing up here on the mr2 and we have the first turbo where we want it I'm trying to tuck everything as close to the engine as I can just to make room for stuff over here later on you guys will see why and I also want them kind of high up but that is where the turbo is going to sit on this side it still has plenty of room it does come a little close but I'm not worried that it's not gonna be restricted or anything like that but I do need it as far over as we can to fit the other one next to it and if you look down here we have our first runner kind of fab that we still got to tack it together but everything is cut and we got the stainless pipe polished and now we just have to tack that one up and it will be ready to go and that can kind of hold the turbo in place then we also have this collector already bolted to the turbo right here we made both of those and got those done you can go ahead and take that out and we got both those collectors and then the other ones right here we air hammered the corners so that it completely opens up to that t3 flange and this will be for the other turbo yeah we got all these elbows cut to make the first runner so we're gonna go ahead and start tacking all that up and then hopefully if the turbo will be able to hold itself up in the air and then we won't need the jig anymore to hold it in place and then we can scoot this guy over and we can start mocking up where the second turbo needs to go and then we'll get a runner going to the second collector to hold that one up and then we'll do the last two runners after that once everything's in place and we know where it's going to sit don't burn my finger alright guys update on the manifold hidden got out of here about three hours ago he took off while I was getting the collectors completely welded up he told me it's a lot easier to get to collectors done first before we start making the runners but we actually did make the first runner before we welded the collectors all the way up so we broke the collector off of that first runner even though we had everything tacked up got both collectors fully welded up and then Hayden took off while I was doing that and then I got the collector tacked back onto that first runner and as you can see the first turbo right here is completely hanging on its own it is suspended in midair and is not needing any support from this jig right here so I got that collector tacked back onto that first runner and that first turbo is in place where it is going to be and over the last three hours I have been working on the second turbo so I got the second turbo on the jig right here it is still suspended it is still connected to it but I got the collector bolted to the bottom of this turbo right here and then I had to kinda maneuver the turbo around to find the best position to get this collector and what angle and then I'm obviously trying to get these two turbos as symmetrical as I can and in line with each other as I can and I think they are coming out really good I also have to consider this gap right here between the exhaust housing because I want to make sure I have enough room to run two down pipes off of these I think I'm going to tie them together but if I use a tight radius three-inch 90 I would actually be able to run them just really close side-by-side and not even have to tie them together I already did measure everything but I think I'm going to be putting an X pipe right here later on just so the engine can kind of share pulses off of each side we'll go into that later and then I also wanna make sure I have enough room right through here for a charge pipe because that's where I plan on running that and we'll go right through here and then up into the intake and be done but the last three hours I got this other runner done right here it is all tacked up and ready to go right down actually getting ready to unbolt this turbo from the jig and it should hold itself up just like how this other one is right here and yeah so I did not film too much of this I was just trying to get it done and I am pretty proud with that one right there this one's a little more complicated and definitely took me some time but it is done and yeah Hayden probably would've got that done a lot faster than I would have but give me some time and God are done and something else I do wanna make clear guys is Hayden is just kind of helping me along the way he's actually not doing most of the work I'm gonna be doing all the welding on this manifold and he's just there if I have any questions and then he just showed me his kind of technique for making that first runner he did do that one himself he measured it all and just kind of showed me how he would do it and then he also showed me how he polishes his tubing and everything and then he showed me you know kind of his secrets for finding the angles and stuff and some of that stuff he doesn't want me to show him video so yeah that's mainly what I wanted to know from him and I definitely learned a lot just in this first day of doing it because ever since I did mine for my hatch or like the van or even when I made the log manifold for this thing originally I had just always eyeballed it and used my saws oughta cut the material and somehow made it work and all the cars still are running great the manifolds are fun but Hayden's way is definitely more efficient I'm not wasting as much time with wrong cuts what he showed me measures much more accurately so I've learned a lot and like I said so I did not film the process of making this one but you guys get the idea and something else I do want to mention is the way the firing order is on these motors is I don't want to get into crazy details about this right now but long story short I have to run the first and third cylinder - 1 t3 flange and then the second and fourth to the other and it just has to do with the firing order and the pulses of the exhaust gas coming out of those that's going to be the most efficient way to do it so that's why this one is going over here and then that one is going to this guy and then this one number you know - or whatever is going to come over here and then this one is going to go over there so they're gonna crisscross so it's not going to be these two going to one and those two going to one kind of have to overlap which does make it a little harder as well but that's the way you need to do it for the pulses to you know kind of line up correctly but yeah I'm really tired so so a lot of this is gibberish I think I'm calling it for tonight I'm just going to get this one I'm bolted just to make sure that it can hold itself up in the air and there's still a lot more work to get done but we definitely got really far on this today I am really excited to be getting this going get the manifold done and hope you guys are excited as well I mean freaking twin 35 hours these puppies are gonna be able to make some power and hopefully the setup goes smooth and we can just make everything work without too many issues I almost had to give up on this one because it was really hard to run that runner but I made it work guys we're going and yeah I'm gonna go ahead and unbolt that real quick see if it can hold itself up check it out both turbos are completely suspended by their own runner they no longer need the jig to hold them up they are floating in mid-air right now man just take a yonder this guy's twin-turbo mr2 this thing's gonna be nutty so obviously need to get the two runners made get those tack to gether and figure out where those need to go and then we can figure out where the waste gates need to go I'm gonna be running to tile 44 millimeters here's one of the flanges I just figured we could go you know one right there maybe put a angle on it if we need to and then the other we can kind of tuck back right here the runner shouldn't get in the way of that guy at all and then we'll just figure that out or if we have to like put it down here you know get that figured out but yeah I am really excited guys like I said I'm calling for it and I'm so tired so I probably sound like it too but yeah I wanted to get the turbos flown in the air before I ended this video and they are and I'm just kind of just kind of looking at it guys it's amazing twin turbo twin GT 3582 RS quays sequential k24 fully built four piston hood in the back of an mr2 huge intake manifold realistically these turbos should be able to make I don't I don't see why they couldn't make like 1,200 horsepower you know between the two turbos not sure if the motor and is all up to par you know I built it myself but if everything goes to plan this setup should have no problem making a thousand horsepower which is my goal and yeah I am I'm super excited the setup is just crazy no one has done this as far as I know and I didn't want to be like everyone else just running a big expensive single turbo we're running twin eBay fully boys you know some twin Nagasaki noisemakers and yeah this is gonna be freaking sick guys so I don't know how much more time I'm gonna have to put into this car like in the next few days because I know Reister Miata he's still in town he wants to hang out do some stuff you just hit me up you know ask him to go the skate park and I'm always down to do that and Cletus and Brent are coming back from Rocky Mountain wait there Rocky Mountain Race Week you know I think tomorrow or Saturday and yeah so I'm probably gonna have to dedicate some time to go hang out with everyone before they take off and I would like to do that so I'm not sure if I'm gonna be working on this in the next few days but they are on there they're up in the air and yeah definitely a lot more to come on the mr2 you guys so I think that's gonna be it for tonight definitely leave a like if you're excited if you approve of this setup any other suggestions you guys may have I will take them but I'm committed to going this route I want to experiment and try out v-twin eBay turbos always wanted to do it Brent Brent convinced me to do it so long ago Todd CRX has proven that these twin eBay turbos do make good power he's already ran his personal best in his car with them and they're cheaper than running a big single you know the manifold might be a little more complicated but it's very unique not many people are doing this especially on these condos and you know there's just a couple reasons why I want to try it I think it's a really cool concept and also Brent has really been wanting me to try it ever since we brought it up at the old shop he has always said you should try putting two of those on a motor and see what happens because he really is believing in the twins as well so we're gonna see how they do I think it's gonna be badass I mean just look at the thing that is freakin sick and also while we're on the topic about liking the video because I know you guys are gonna like it twin turbos sick like the video something else is that the route of C has been sitting for quite some time now install the stock transmission in it but there's no point of really racing it because it's just gonna blow that thing apart the second I try to do anything with it over here on the bench this has been sitting ever since I pulled it out we have the same gear set that I've pulled out of the van this was originally in the hatch straight cut gear set with synchros first gear got killed on it when we took the minivan to the track you can see teeth missing there the input shaft is completely stripped on that first gear and it sucks because I have to completely take it apart and get a whole new input shaft made because first year is part of that input shaft and I'm going to send that input shaft and this gear to Sainz so they can copy it but even if I sent it tomorrow they're going to be at least a month out because they literally have to meet remake it from scratch and then they'll send it back to me I have to pay quite a bit to get that done but if you guys want to see the route of C up and going again all you got to do is like the video now I'm gonna tell right away if you guys really care because I want to see 20,000 likes if this video gets 20,000 likes and the next you know a few days for a hundred percent sure by next week I will have that transmission apart and everything sent out to Sainz to get it fixed and I will film it and obviously prove it to you guys but yeah if you want to see the route to see back up and going like the video I'm just curious and yeah I do want to get this up it's just missing a blow-off valve because I brought one for WAGO and I have a brand new one sitting in this box right here I just gotta throw it on and I know some of you guys have been talking about the hatch where's the hatch give the hatch some love when is the hatch coming back she is right here she's still running great don't worry guys the hatch is going to make a very strong comeback once I get back to it like I got a whole bunch of plans for this thing you know this is kind of what started our channel the hatch used to be the face of the channel we cannot have this thing just sitting in the garage not doing and but my focus is on the mr2 for right now guys this has been a project I've been waiting to get done for so long and she is getting closer every day but don't worry the hatch is going to be sick as well the minivan might be getting the same treatment the hatch does later on I mean you guys can take your guesses now and I also noticed a lot of you guys did actually guess the twin turbos were coming so I did read the comments so congrats to you guys that figured it out before I posted this video sorry for all the talking I'm done for tonight that's going to be it guys hope you enjoyed much more to come and yeah thanks for watchinghey God are going to I blew mind up and got it back together you have more to silly that I know my mind still those are on dude maybe next week I mean by helping with it at least you got this thing back that'd be complicated and definitely took me some time but it is done and yeah Hayden probably would've got that done a lot faster than I would have but give me some time and God are done and something else I do wanna make clear guys is Hayden is just kind of helping me along the way he's actually not doing most of the work I'm gonna be doing all the welding on this manifold and he's just there if I have any questions and then he just showed me his kind of technique for making that first runner he did do that one himself he measured it all and just kind of showed me how he would do it and then he also showed me how he polishes his tubing and everything and then he showed me you know kind of his secrets for finding the angles and stuff and some of that stuff he doesn't want me to show him video so yeah that's mainly what I wanted to know from him and I definitely learned a lot just in this first day of doing it because ever since I did mine for my hatch or like the van or even when I made the log manifold for this thing originally I had just always eyeballed it and used my saws oughta cut the material and somehow made it work and all the cars still are running great the manifolds are fun but Hayden's way is definitely more efficient I'm not wasting as much time with wrong cuts what he showed me measures much more accurately so I've learned a lot and like I said so I did not film the process of making this one but you guys get the idea and something else I do want to mention is the way the firing order is on these motors is I don't want to get into crazy details about this right now but long story short I have to run the first and third cylinder - 1 t3 flange and then the second and fourth to the other and it just has to do with the firing order and the pulses of the exhaust gas coming out of those that's going to be the most efficient way to do it so that's why this one is going over here and then that one is going to this guy and then this one number you know - or whatever is going to come over here and then this one is going to go over there so they're gonna crisscross so it's not going to be these two going to one and those two going to one kind of have to overlap which does make it a little harder as well but that's the way you need to do it for the pulses to you know kind of line up correctly but yeah I'm really tired so so a lot of this is gibberish I think I'm calling it for tonight I'm just going to get this one I'm bolted just to make sure that it can hold itself up in the air and there's still a lot more work to get done but we definitely got really far on this today I am really excited to be getting this going get the manifold done and hope you guys are excited as well I mean freaking twin 35 hours these puppies are gonna be able to make some power and hopefully the setup goes smooth and we can just make everything work without too many issues I almost had to give up on this one because it was really hard to run that runner but I made it work guys we're going and yeah I'm gonna go ahead and unbolt that real quick see if it can hold itself up check it out both turbos are completely suspended by their own runner they no longer need the jig to hold them up they are floating in mid-air right now man just take a yonder this guy's twin-turbo mr2 this thing's gonna be nutty so obviously need to get the two runners made get those tack to gether and figure out where those need to go and then we can figure out where the waste gates need to go I'm gonna be running to tile 44 millimeters here's one of the flanges I just figured we could go you know one right there maybe put a angle on it if we need to and then the other we can kind of tuck back right here the runner shouldn't get in the way of that guy at all and then we'll just figure that out or if we have to like put it down here you know get that figured out but yeah I am really excited guys like I said I'm calling for it and I'm so tired so I probably sound like it too but yeah I wanted to get the turbos flown in the air before I ended this video and they are and I'm just kind of just kind of looking at it guys it's amazing twin turbo twin GT 3582 RS quays sequential k24 fully built four piston hood in the back of an mr2 huge intake manifold realistically these turbos should be able to make I don't I don't see why they couldn't make like 1,200 horsepower you know between the two turbos not sure if the motor and is all up to par you know I built it myself but if everything goes to plan this setup should have no problem making a thousand horsepower which is my goal and yeah I am I'm super excited the setup is just crazy no one has done this as far as I know and I didn't want to be like everyone else just running a big expensive single turbo we're running twin eBay fully boys you know some twin Nagasaki noisemakers and yeah this is gonna be freaking sick guys so I don't know how much more time I'm gonna have to put into this car like in the next few days because I know Reister Miata he's still in town he wants to hang out do some stuff you just hit me up you know ask him to go the skate park and I'm always down to do that and Cletus and Brent are coming back from Rocky Mountain wait there Rocky Mountain Race Week you know I think tomorrow or Saturday and yeah so I'm probably gonna have to dedicate some time to go hang out with everyone before they take off and I would like to do that so I'm not sure if I'm gonna be working on this in the next few days but they are on there they're up in the air and yeah definitely a lot more to come on the mr2 you guys so I think that's gonna be it for tonight definitely leave a like if you're excited if you approve of this setup any other suggestions you guys may have I will take them but I'm committed to going this route I want to experiment and try out v-twin eBay turbos always wanted to do it Brent Brent convinced me to do it so long ago Todd CRX has proven that these twin eBay turbos do make good power he's already ran his personal best in his car with them and they're cheaper than running a big single you know the manifold might be a little more complicated but it's very unique not many people are doing this especially on these condos and you know there's just a couple reasons why I want to try it I think it's a really cool concept and also Brent has really been wanting me to try it ever since we brought it up at the old shop he has always said you should try putting two of those on a motor and see what happens because he really is believing in the twins as well so we're gonna see how they do I think it's gonna be badass I mean just look at the thing that is freakin sick and also while we're on the topic about liking the video because I know you guys are gonna like it twin turbos sick like the video something else is that the route of C has been sitting for quite some time now install the stock transmission in it but there's no point of really racing it because it's just gonna blow that thing apart the second I try to do anything with it over here on the bench this has been sitting ever since I pulled it out we have the same gear set that I've pulled out of the van this was originally in the hatch straight cut gear set with synchros first gear got killed on it when we took the minivan to the track you can see teeth missing there the input shaft is completely stripped on that first gear and it sucks because I have to completely take it apart and get a whole new input shaft made because first year is part of that input shaft and I'm going to send that input shaft and this gear to Sainz so they can copy it but even if I sent it tomorrow they're going to be at least a month out because they literally have to meet remake it from scratch and then they'll send it back to me I have to pay quite a bit to get that done but if you guys want to see the route of C up and going again all you got to do is like the video now I'm gonna tell right away if you guys really care because I want to see 20,000 likes if this video gets 20,000 likes and the next you know a few days for a hundred percent sure by next week I will have that transmission apart and everything sent out to Sainz to get it fixed and I will film it and obviously prove it to you guys but yeah if you want to see the route to see back up and going like the video I'm just curious and yeah I do want to get this up it's just missing a blow-off valve because I brought one for WAGO and I have a brand new one sitting in this box right here I just gotta throw it on and I know some of you guys have been talking about the hatch where's the hatch give the hatch some love when is the hatch coming back she is right here she's still running great don't worry guys the hatch is going to make a very strong comeback once I get back to it like I got a whole bunch of plans for this thing you know this is kind of what started our channel the hatch used to be the face of the channel we cannot have this thing just sitting in the garage not doing and but my focus is on the mr2 for right now guys this has been a project I've been waiting to get done for so long and she is getting closer every day but don't worry the hatch is going to be sick as well the minivan might be getting the same treatment the hatch does later on I mean you guys can take your guesses now and I also noticed a lot of you guys did actually guess the twin turbos were coming so I did read the comments so congrats to you guys that figured it out before I posted this video sorry for all the talking I'm done for tonight that's going to be it guys hope you enjoyed much more to come and yeah thanks for watching\n"
