How To Activate BEAST MODE On Samsung Galaxy S5

Activating Beast Mode: Tips and Tricks for the Galaxy S5

The first step in activating beast mode on the Galaxy S5 is to turn off the double tap to S Voice feature on the home button. This was covered in my previous video, "Tips and Tricks for the Galaxy S5," which I've linked below. If you missed it, don't worry - this can be easily done by going into the phone's system settings, tapping on SVO, and then unchecking the open via home key option. This results in the home button no longer having to wait and see if you're going to double tap for S Voice, which takes you straight to the home screen almost instantly. However, it's still not technically instant due to Touch Wiz's relatively slow animations.

Reducing or Eliminating Animations

The next step is to either reduce or completely eliminate all animations on your Galaxy S5. This isn't as straightforward as disabling SVO, but it doesn't require any kind of rooting or jailbreaking. All you have to do is unlock Developer Options by going into the main system settings, tapping on "About device," and then hitting on the build number option about seven or eight times until the phone tells you that you are now a developer. Then, hop back into the main system settings and tap on the newly available Developer options. Set the window transition and animator scales down to either 0.5x or turn them off completely. This pretty much results in instantaneous home button response, as well as faster opening and switching between apps.

Turning Off the Lock Screen Effect

The third step in activating beast mode is turning off the lock screen effect. You can do this by going into the system settings, tapping on "Lock screen," and then tapping on the unlocked effect option. Finally, set it to none. Turning off the unlocked effect makes getting straight into what you want much faster on your Galaxy S5. This can make a big difference when you think about how many times you lock and unlock your phone every day.

Uninstalling or Disabling Unwanted Apps

The fourth step in activating beast mode is to uninstall or disable unwanted apps that may be taking up some of those precious system resources despite the fact that you may not even be using them. To find out which apps are running in the background, go to the main system settings, tap on "Application manager," swipe over to the "Running" tab, and take note of any apps that you don't want or used that are hogging up RAM. Once you've got an idea of the apps that you want to remove or disable, swipe over to the "All" tab, tap on the applications that you want to delete or disable, and then hit the uninstall or turn off buttons.

Using ART for Improved Performance

If you're like me and you always want to take it to the next level, I've got another step you can try out that may significantly boost the performance of your apps. This involves enabling ART, which is a more efficient runtime system developed by Google. To enable ART, go into the main system settings, tap on "Developer options," select "Runtime system," and then tap on "Use ART." Finally, press the "Okay" button to restart the device and enable ART along with its more efficient AOT compiler. The difference in speed and responsiveness from all these steps isn't going to be night and day, as we're not changing any of the physical hardware on the phone. However, by using just one or two of these steps, you should be able to see or at least feel a slight increase in responsiveness.

Conclusion
