The Coolest Smartphone You'll Never Touch...

The Story Behind the Upcoming Black Shark Phone

Every so often, I come across a story about a product that's affecting the tech universe and I want to talk about it, even if it might not be a physical product that's in my hands right now. I have some thoughts I want to bring to your attention, and this time, it's about an upcoming phone with an incredible name called Black Shark.

The Black Shark Phone: A Gaming Focused Device

The Black Shark phone is what will be Yami's first gaming phone, a phone with an emphasis on mobile gaming. When we say gaming phone, it probably brings to mind memories of the Razor Phone that I did a video on earlier. It had amazing speakers and a 120 Hz display. Razer is already a brand synonymous with gaming, so it made sense that they would have a gaming-focused phone. However, this Black Shark takes things a step further.

The Joystick Attachment: A Tactile Experience

Take a look at the image of the Black Shark, you'll see that it has an attachment - a joystick attachment. This gives you a more tactile almost console-like interaction with your favorite game. The addition of a detachable controller module is predicted to pack some extra battery in it, so it's not gonna suck from the internal battery on the device. Additionally, this module will also feature a dedicated key that they're calling the Shark Key.

The Shark Key: A Boost Button for Maximum Performance

This dedicated key is called the Shark Key and will immediately give you maximum performance for your gaming needs, kind of like a boost button with dedicated hardware. This means you'll feel real special when you hit it - you're about to go into game mode! Your friends might be stuck in regular mode, but when you hit the overdrive straight to the top, they'll see that victory royale what's it called? In PUBG, of course!

A Liquid Cooled Phone for Hardcore Gaming

Beyond the specs and features, beyond the excitement of a joystick attachment and a dedicated key, is the fact that this phone is going to be liquid cooled. A form of liquid cooling inside the smartphone will keep things chilly when you get serious with hardcore gaming.

The Global Perspective: More Than Just a North American Release

People are probably thinking about this strictly from a North American perspective, but I believe that looking at this development from a global perspective makes it even more interesting. In some parts of the world, mobile devices are the first screen and only screen - the important screen. Here, we've seen an expansion of hardcore games available on mobile. A joystick might not be so bad for game enthusiasts. A device that stays cool might not be so bad. A 120 Hz display might not be so bad either. Better sound quality and bigger speakers that are not so bad.

Speculation: Will the Black Shark Phone Launch in North America?

The speculation at this point is that this phone will sell for around $500, but may never launch in North America unless we can make some noise about it. That's a possibility worth considering.
