Audio Technica ATH-M50X for Gaming

**The M50 X Headphones: A Review**

As I held the M50 X headphones in my hands, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. These closed-back headphones are designed for gaming, music, and everyday use, and I wanted to put them through their paces to see how they would perform.

**The Design and Comfort**

One of the first things that struck me about the M50 X was its design. The headband is lightweight and comfortable, with ample padding on top to distribute the weight evenly. This makes it perfect for long gaming sessions or just listening to music for hours on end. The ear cups are also designed to rotate in and out by 90 degrees, allowing you to easily adjust their position to suit your needs. But that's not all - the headband can be folded into itself, making it easy to store away when not in use.

I have to say, I was impressed by how comfortable these headphones were to wear. They're made of plastic, which may seem lightweight, but they actually feel quite substantial and durable. The ear pads are made from memory foam, which is soft and gentle on the skin, and never seemed to cause my ears to get hot or warm during extended use.

**The Sound Quality**

Now, let's talk about the sound quality of these headphones. I was a bit skeptical at first - after all, they're not open-back headphones like some of the other options out there. But from the moment I put them on, I knew that I had made the right choice. The sound is deep and rich, with plenty of bass to go around. It's perfect for gaming, where you need a good sense of spatial awareness and immersion in the game world.

But what really sets the M50 X apart is its ability to deliver clear and accurate sound at high volumes. Whether I was playing games or listening to music, these headphones delivered every detail with crystal clarity. And when it comes to bass, there's plenty to go around - it's not too overpowering, but still present enough to add depth and character to the sound.

**The Removable Cable**

One of the things that really impressed me about the M50 X was their removable cable. In the past, headphones like this one were stuck with a fixed cable that would break or fray over time. But not these - the cable can be easily swapped out, which is a huge plus for anyone who's had issues with other headphones in the past.

I actually used the longer version of the cable when I was gaming, as it gave me plenty of room to move around without having to deal with any annoying tangles or knots. And when it came time to pack up the headphones and take them on the go, the removable cable made it easy to do so - no more worrying about tangled cords or lost cables.

**The Price**

Finally, let's talk about the price of these headphones. I was able to pick them up for around $100 on eBay, which is a steal considering their quality and performance. Of course, they're not cheap - they retail for around $150-$160, but if you can snag them at a lower price point, it's definitely worth considering.

In conclusion, the M50 X headphones are an absolute gem. They're comfortable, well-designed, and deliver top-notch sound quality that's perfect for gaming or just listening to music. The removable cable is a huge bonus, and the price - while not cheap - is definitely competitive with other options out there. If you're in the market for new headphones, I highly recommend giving these a look.

**Why the M50 X are Better than the Original M50s**

One of the biggest questions that people will have when considering the M50 X is whether they're worth it over the original M50s. The answer, in my opinion, is a resounding yes.

First and foremost, the removable cable is a huge deal-breaker for anyone who's had issues with other headphones in the past. But beyond that, I think the M50 X offer some significant upgrades over their predecessors. For one thing, they're made of steel, which makes them much more durable than the plastic used in the original M50s.

But it's not just about durability - the M50 X also deliver significantly better sound quality. The bass is deeper and richer, with plenty of detail to go around, and the highs are crisp and clear. It's a big improvement over the original M50s, which can sometimes sound a bit muddy or lacking in clarity.

**The Best Headphones for Gaming**

If you're a serious gamer, you know that having the right headphones is essential for fully immersing yourself in the game world. But with so many options out there, it can be hard to know where to start.

In my opinion, one of the best pairs of gaming headphones out there is the AKG Q71. These closed-back headphones offer crystal-clear sound and a comfortable fit that's perfect for long gaming sessions.

Another great option is the HyperX Cloud II. These are open-back headphones that offer incredible sound quality and a sleek, modern design that looks great on any desk or shelf.

But if you're looking for something a bit more budget-friendly, I'd recommend checking out the SteelSeries Arctis 7. These are wireless gaming headphones that offer great sound quality and a comfortable fit - and at under $200, they're a steal!

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, the M50 X headphones are an absolute gem. They're comfortable, well-designed, and deliver top-notch sound quality that's perfect for gaming or just listening to music. The removable cable is a huge bonus, and the price - while not cheap - is definitely competitive with other options out there.

Whether you're a serious gamer or just looking for a great pair of headphones for everyday use, I highly recommend giving these a look. They may not be the most expensive option out there, but trust me when I say that they're worth every penny.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everybody I'm random Frank p and to to talk to you about a very particular pair of headphones that you know if you look up any top pair of headphones you're going to find as one of the top rated all time for being a very professional pair of Studio monitoring headphones that's going to be from Audio Technica the atth m50x like I said perhaps one of the most popular pairs of headphones on the headphone Market but we're not just going to talk about the headphone itself we're not going to give it a typical review we're going to talk about how they rack up for something a little bit different not just music not watching movies but for gaming so if you're a PC Gamer or you know you want to plug these into your PS4 controller if you want to use the m50x for gaming we're going to diagnose them go to the full rundown of how they sound how they perform the portability factors all the good stuff you're going to want to know about the M50 XS right now like I said said these are one of the top headphones on the market and rightfully so they're known for having one of the most clear roundabout sounds that you're going to find in a pair of headphones that's pretty good because like I said they are Studio monitoring headphones very professional you're going to want that clear sound you're going to want to hear all the highs the mids the lows you're going to want enough base but how do they rack up for gaming I've been using these for the past month or so and I've always been on the kind of hunt for you know the best headphones for gaming if you're not familiar with with me or my channel I've always done a bunch of headphone reviews in the past and I've always been putting them up and putting them to the test for gaming and I guess the journey to find the best headphones for gaming isn't going to end because there's going to be more headphones all the time but these definitely make a good run at being the top headphones for gaming as well so powering this pair of headphones are 45 mm drivers and they are held behind a closed back design and what that means is as you can see on this particular pair of headphones they are closed back it is not open there's not a grill Style on the side of the ear cup which would be exposing the driver inside now many people for gaming do prefer an open back pair of headphones because like I said since the grill is open and it's exposing the driver it's going to give the sound a much wider and larger sound space so what that means is when you're listening to them there's going to be a lot of uh sound leakage out and in it's going to pretty much give the illusion or the appearance that there is nothing on your ears it's just sound coming from everywhere in the room so given the fact these are not open back I really don't mind honestly uh the open back design I think is a bonus because it's going to give uh more sound to you into your ears because you're not going to have a lot of ambient noise bothering you or anything like that so for gaming so far I have not had an issue with these that I could say was a a factor to being a closed back pair of headphones so going off like I said earlier ier um I've used this for about a month from a wide variety of games to explorers FPS uh Simulator games a bunch of games you can think of I have used these for and honestly I found these helped me out best in actual FPS games you know first-person shooters uh playing Counterstrike or Far Cry is what I've been on uh I've B into that lately and these really help me out when it comes to positional audio so you know since these are Studio monitoring they're very very clear you're going to be able to hear where the enemies are where their footsteps are where the gunshots are in the distance explosions anything like that that's a big bonus when it comes to headphones because it's going to give you an advantage over your opponent who you know is using something else that's not as good as these or something simulated like 7.1 surround sound or anything like that this is going to give you a clear Advantage because the audio in these are just phenomenal another thing I wanted to talk about with the m50x is is base now people have complained on a bunch of forums and uh you know rating stuff like that they they Fe back that these have too much base in them and I honestly think it's kind of the opposite I would like a little bit more I guess you can call me a Bas head in a way but that's not going to really hurt you in gaming either I find that having more base in gaming is actually cool and I I like the experience with it because you know like I said playing Far Cry you're going to feel the explosions you're going to feel the punch of The Gunshot every time you shoot your gun and I like that I think it's a cool little touch uh these aren't anything like the Sony Elite Pulse headset that we've R in the past where you can actually feel the base but I do like the base punch in these it's very warm and um I don't know I I like feeling the explosions and the gunshots and to kind of wrap up my whole experience with these um another reason why I really like these for gaming is because well I'm on the go a lot so if you're if you're someone like me who you are on the go or you go to land parties often uh these are a good pair of headphones to own because they are very portable now as you can see uh this is their normal state that they're going to be in on your head the ear cups do rotate in soal 90° here as you can see and doesn't stop there you can actually fold them into the ear cup U sorry the headband just like that while we're talking about the headband and the ear cups uh these are honestly very comfortable they're a very light pair of headphones so if you're gaming for long sessions you know I mean I don't really game for more than like three or four periods or 3 or 4 hours at a time so if you're one of those Marathon Gamers I mean obviously no matter what you're wearing it's going to be bothersome over time but for just minor sessions you know an hour 2 hours even up to four or 5 hours these are extremely light cuz they're all plastic the headband there is ample padding up top here it's not going to be a lot of pressure on the top of your head and the uh the ear pads are made from memory foam so very very soft and they never once had made my ears like you know hot or warm or anything like that I never had a problem with these yet and then lastly you may be asking why the M50 x's over the original m50s and uh the biggest thing here obviously is is going to be the removable cable uh in the past you had one cable you were stuck with it and if it R if it ripped if it frayed um your headphones were done these it is removable so you don't have you don't have to have that be an issue uh in the bag it includes three additional cables well there's three total um I used the long one for gaming cuz it's not right next to my PC I think it's a big bonus and you know it's I think it's a major addition to uh the M50 x's and the price uh these are a little bit more expensive I got these I Hest ly for $100 on eBay uh like new condition and I highly recommend if you can buy these used definitely do that because a buying them used you're not going to have to worry about um your own burn in time so if they're used it's going to give these a more natural sound because they already burned in which is something good and price you know you always want to try to find them cheaper online so if you can definitely do that I highly recommend getting these especially for a price at around you anywhere from 100 to 120 I believe these retail for either 150 or 160 so anything below 140 I'm going to say is an honest steal all right everybody just want to give you my general thoughts you know opinions on these because if you seen my channel in the past or my reviews this is not a typical review style a typical review video I do where I just sort of rant about a product or talk about how I use it for me but honestly the m50x is for gaming I think could be um really great for you people might prefer something like I said open back you know you have the bar Dynamic they're they have a great pair of headphones that you can get open back I think the DT 9000s or the AKG q71 a great pair of open back headphones people might prefer for gaming and I've actually just did a review of the top headphones for gaming so you can check that out and see my uh thoughts and opinions on those as well but for a pair of closed back headphones uh the M50 XS I think are phenomenal the price I got them at they're steel so I highly highly recommend them and honestly I like the way they look I think they're really nice and stylish I wouldn't mind even wearing them out uh you know like walking around campus or anything like that so I just wanted to give you guys my thoughts on these for gaming because people want to use these for gaming a lot they don't know if they should or not cuz they're more geared toward music it has my approval so if you want to check them out I highly recommend it if you like this video please give it a thumbs up you have any questions about these or anything else comment down below or you can hit me up on Twitter at randomfrankp I'm always on Twitter 247 so you have any questions probably easier to find me on there I'm always giving Channel updates stuff like that on there so if you want to follow me that'd be cool like I said random Frank p lastly you want check out the rest of my channel I did a ton of tech reviews and headphones stuff in the past a lot of gaming stuff so like this video s like the whole genre of tech and tech reviews and gaming definitely hit subscribe and uh they got a bunch of stuff coming in the future too so thank you everybody like I said I'm random Frank P have a good dayhey everybody I'm random Frank p and to to talk to you about a very
