Decorating and Organizing for Christmas and Halloween
When it comes to decorating our homes for holidays like Christmas and Halloween, we often find ourselves scrambling to get everything ready on time. In this article, we'll take a look at how one person is tackling their holiday decor and organizing their space.
Recently, Darren went to Home Depot and picked up some outside Christmas lights and garland that he felt would help create a cohesive look in the living room. He was particularly excited about using the garland on the stairway railing to add some festive flair to the area. With the help of some storage bins, Darren is able to pack away most of his holiday decor and make room for it all again when the time comes.
As he was unpacking, Darren realized that having a limited amount of decor can actually be a good thing. Without the distraction of too many decorations, he's able to focus on creating a cozy atmosphere in each room. Halloween Decor
Last year, Darren decided to continue his Halloween theme by bringing the same decor from their old house to the new one. However, he found that it didn't quite fit with the overall aesthetic of the new home. The result was a somewhat sparse holiday display, which left him feeling underwhelmed.
This year, however, Darren is determined to create a more immersive experience. He's been shopping for new Halloween decor and has already started putting away some of the pieces that will be used throughout the season. Tips from a Seasoned Decorator
One tip that Darren offers is to use storage bags to keep holiday pillows and other decorative items clean and dust-free. He notes that labeling the bags with a description of the contents makes it easy to identify what's inside and ensures that everything gets put away in its proper place.

By waiting for his partner to bring down some additional bins, he can focus on putting away the rest of the decor without feeling overwhelmed. The Christmas Unpacking Process

With two new Christmas trees on the way, they're still waiting for those before finishing up any decorating. seen a couple already and are not already subscribed don't forget subscribe below so today is november 1st so we are ready to transition from halloween to i don't know because okay i was gonna say christmas but i have thanksgiving decor but i don't have a lot of thanksgiving to court and i kind of want to jump straight to christmas because i'm so excited about christmas so regardless halloween is leaving today but i need to decide which holiday i'm switching to i need to figure that out also there have been more house updates that's not what this video is going to be about but i'm going to show you guys because i want to keep you guys in the loop with everything that we're doing so i finally ha well no that's a lot darren and his friend hung this beautiful painting in my office that we had gotten before i showed you guys when we first bought it and it was still like sitting on the ground we hadn't hung it up yet so that's by a local artist i really love it the only thing is that it's like the ceiling is so tall that i don't know if we need to like get something vertical versus like a horizontal piece like this i'm not sure but for now i really do love it um i also recently like two days ago just got these new pretty vases how cool are these i got these from at home it's like it's like a depo decor like apartment store type thing so i really like them i don't know if they're gonna be going right here but they do tie in like some of those blue colors in here so i'm really excited about that um and then i also got these really cool vases look how cool these are so just two different sizes of them again i don't know that they're gonna go here but i really like them so this is kind of a holding spot for them then over here these tables came in i don't remember if these were here when i did the last video but we got those got this plant here and then the new rug came in so this new rug it's like it's like braided and it's like super soft i love it it's nice and big it like covers the entire space the only thing is that right now it's like slides everywhere so i did order a um a grip thing that's going to be going under here but it was supposed to be here like two days ago and it keeps getting delayed so i'm not sure when that's gonna arrive and then we finally ordered a coffee table for right here and that's gonna be here i think in a week or two so i'll show you guys when that comes in but it's super cool super unique we love it i'm not gonna tell you guys what it looks like you're just gonna have to wait and see but it's really gonna just like tie this whole space together to finally like have something there so really excited about that i'm so sad i also have to return these pet costumes so darren and i were pirates and we got the kids little pirate costumes as well but i ordered the wrong size i like mis-measured them so i went to put them in the costumes yesterday and how they're like front paws are supposed to go through there yeah it couldn't it couldn't even fit around their back so that was super depressing so this past week has been absolute craziness so i'm in sales and i had like back-to-back meetings like every single day the entire week it was so hectic and then um on wednesday it was my sister's 30th birthday so we went and had like a birthday dinner with our entire family it was so awesome seeing everyone and then um so that was kind of a late night and then it was really busy work day sunday saturday saturday we had my sister's 30th birthday party like with all of our friends so there was like a dj ton of food drinks games all of that it was such a blast it was funeral themed because it was like you know the day before halloween and then um because it's her 30th birthday she was using it as like the the death of her youth if you will so it was kind of like symbolic everyone came in like all black like dramatic with like you know the little head veil and like black gloves like it was it was really cool so that's what we did on saturday and then sunday we went to golden road so golden road is like a um a brewery um they have like a tasting room um but it has like it's like an indoor outdoor type of vibe and they allow dogs they have like two fire pits they now have um patties on the menu so you can buy like little burger patties for the dogs so they loved it um and that was also when we were going to put the dogs in their costumes and that's when we realized that the costumes were too small hopefully next year i will be a little more on top of it let me like write that my calendar so i don't forget but i think those are updates for it now so i'm going to i'm not sure what i'm going to do right now but i'll bring you guys along as i do more stuff the little babies just got back from getting their uh their annual shots oh you did such a good job huh yeah but you're so tired now so tired one of the biggest come ups i filled this with jolly ranchers and it just brings me so much happiness i'm gonna take a watermelon one so i'm doing some work on my computer and today the pilates machine is supposed to be arriving it was supposed to come between eight and five but it's like three pm and it's still not here so i don't know like when that's coming there's like no way to like live track it so i mean i have no idea so we're like staying at home all day just to make sure that we're here in case in case they bring it because they can't leave it outside they have to bring in it but i'll show you guys when it gets here so it's like three o'clock and i still haven't had lunch and i just had like a snack for breakfast so um i'm gonna try these beer battered fish fillets i've been craving fish and chips and i found this at the store so i've never tried this brand before but here we go so i'm just preheating preheating this little oven to 450 put some foil on this so i've never tried this brand of tartar sauce before i really like the trader joe's one but i don't really live by trader joe's so i was at raley's and that's when i got the um the fish and chips and or the fish and so this was the only like regular tartar sauce they had so i'm gonna give it a try i mean it looks pretty standard i'm not gonna lie this does not look very appetizing i do not have eye hopes for this at all our rugrat thing just arrived courtesy of ups only like five days late but that's okay so now our rug is going to stop slipping all over town so it's like 4 10. they still aren't here with the pilates machine oh a big delivery truck just drove by i thought it was like oh my god is it them it's not um so i don't know when they're planning on coming they have like 50 minutes um also we have decided that despite having thanksgiving decor we are going to skip thanksgiving and go immediately to christmas so darren just went to home depot and he got a bunch of like outside christmas lights and this like um garland that's um you know like the like a christmas tree reef you know it's like the fluffy greenery garland thing that you put on like like stair handle railings those so we got some of those i feel like i can at least get everything together in one area and then i can like pack it up later so yeah i think that's what i'm doing right now so if you will wow you don't really realize how little decor you actually have until you take away like all the holiday stuff i mean we put a few things into like storage to make room for it but honestly it was just like the centerpiece here i think we only had like a candle here like we didn't we still haven't like decorated this and i'm just like looking at everything and it looks so empty without like the halloween stuff this room not so much this room didn't have too much in there but look at all of the fall decor that i just took down okay so this is everything that i just took down yeah we have a lot of fall decor and then we have a lot more of like the fall pillows and stuff i didn't put out this year and then all of like our bathrooms had orange towels in them so those are all retired for the season but oh my gosh okay so now i have to go get the bins and put all of this stuff away so i'm back in my office just because the lighting is so much better in here um but all of like a halloween decor and stuff last year in our old house it was like a full like halloween themed house like everything was like it was all halloween and then bringing that same decor to this house because this house is so much bigger when i put all that stuff out it was just like a little like sprinkle of fall or like chris or um halloween it didn't feel like fully submersed like halloween spooky you know so that was kind of a bit of like a disappointment but that just means i have to go like halloween decor shopping so i'm excited about that i found a few things this year but next year hopefully will be my year i'm going to continue with putting away all of the decor so um life hack if you guys have like holiday pillows and stuff and you don't want them getting like dusty or like bugs getting in like in there like you know eating or whatever it is um put them in trash bags and tie them up tight and then you can label the trash bags as to like what pillows are in there so you can find them easily later so it keeps them clean dust free and then easy to find and voila so i've tied it up tight labeled it and typically i can fit two pillows in one bag so these two are gonna be one bag these two are gonna be another bag and then this guy is probably gonna be on his own so i'm just starting to bring up some of the christmas things i haven't really unpacked much other than these pillows right here and then i brought up some of the other stuff but um we have so many other bins and they're super heavy so i'm waiting for darren to get those and then i put away all the pillows and such but this is all of the halloween stuff that i can't carry down and then does this one missing the lip oh no it's labeled on the other side so yeah just waiting for that i'm watching good witch and i'm getting pretty hungry so i'm making some spaghetti here and for some reason the pilates machine still isn't here so i'm really starting to feel like they missed the delivery date for today and i don't know where it is but i don't feel like it's coming so i don't know why they sent us an email this morning with like a delivery window from 8am to 5pm for today like why did you send us a delivery window if you're if you can't deliver i don't know i'm confused so the rest of the evening i'm just gonna eat the spaghetti watch a show and work on the christmas unpacking of everything right now darren's outside with one of his friends putting up all the christmas lights but there's no way we can finish tonight because there's so much stuff but also we don't have our christmas trees yet we're getting two this year so we are still gonna have to like go get the trees and everything so we're not finishing tonight so i will update you guys in another vlog of how everything it turns out but i'm so excited to be transitioning to christmas if you guys haven't already don't forget subscribe below
