The Competitive Scene is Changing: Epic's Latest Announcement
As the competitive Fortnite scene continues to evolve, it's clear that Epic Games is taking steps to revamp and improve the experience for professional players. The prize pools have been getting smaller, and events have become less consistent. This has led to a decline in participation from top talent, with some pros even retiring or moving on to other games. Despite this, competitive Fortnite remains an essential part of the game's overall health, as it provides a platform for aspiring players to grow and improve their skills.
The prospect of competing at the highest level is a powerful motivator for many young players. Seeing how skilled professional players can master the game and excel in tournaments can inspire others to pursue their own competitive dreams. For this reason, Epic's efforts to strengthen the competitive scene are highly welcome. By creating a more consistent and reliable experience, they can help foster a thriving community of talented players.
Epic's latest announcement has been met with widespread enthusiasm from the Fortnite community, including professional players and content creators. The changes to loot pools between competitive and pub matches have long been a point of contention, with many feeling that the current system was flawed and unfair. Epic's decision to make patch notes and gameplay changes specifically for competitive playlists is a significant step forward in addressing these issues.
One of the key changes announced by Epic is the introduction of the Lever Action Shotgun, which will be available in competitive playlists from the start of FNCs. This move marks a departure from previous seasons, where certain items were only accessible to pub players. The removal of the Rift Fish and Shockwave has also been welcomed by many, as these items can create an uneven playing field and disrupt the competitiveness of matches.
Another change announced is the vaulting of the Shockwave, which was deemed too powerful and unpredictable for competitive play. This decision should help reduce the impact of random chance on the game's outcome and promote a more consistent experience. The removal of Elevators from Competitive Play is also a welcome move, as they can create an uneven playing field and hinder competitive players' mobility.
Epic has also announced plans to make adjustments to gold bar distribution, ensuring that every NPC can upgrade their equipment using gold bars. This change should help standardize the experience across the map and provide more opportunities for players to improve their gear. Additionally, Epic is committed to hosting more Solo Saturdays, Trio Cash Cups, and console-exclusive competitions in the coming months.
While some may lament the fact that console players will not have access to FNCs this year, it's worth noting that Epic has a track record of delivering high-quality experiences for all platforms. With a focus on creating a more competitive and inclusive environment, they should be able to provide console players with compelling alternatives that rival the FNC experience.
In conclusion, Epic's latest announcement marks an important step forward in the evolution of Fortnite's competitive scene. By addressing long-standing issues and introducing changes designed to promote fairness and consistency, they are helping to create a more sustainable and exciting experience for professional players. As the community looks forward to the coming months, it's clear that there is plenty of reason to be optimistic about the future of competitive Fortnite.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey what's up guys it's cypher epic just made their biggest announcement for fortnite competitive since the world cup and honestly this was a very good time because a lot of people were losing hope in fortnite competitive a lot of pro players were either abandoning the game or felt like they were gonna quit be sure to like and subscribe because we're almost at 5 million subscribers let's jump into this post and talk about what this means for the future of competitive fortnite first things first let's talk about the prize pool fortnite has committed 20 million dollars for the fncs series this year so this is how it's gonna work right 2021 is only gonna have trio fncs and they're gonna have i believe four uh fncs uh events happening in this entire year and they're dedicating 20 million dollars purely for the fncs trio events this doesn't include trio cash cups any of the solo events that they're going to talk about in the other part of the blog post and it's going to be pretty consistent because all the tournaments are played on the same tourney so that all the platforms play on this in the same tournament this is good and bad at the same time it's good because the prize pools will be bigger for the top performing players but if you're on console or if you're on mobile you're probably gonna have a really hard time earning money it's not all doom and gloom though because they did say at the end that there's they still want to do some small console only tournaments and mobile only tournaments but the fncs which is like gonna be the main bulk of competitive fortnite is gonna be cross-platform they're making some format adjustments to trio fncs besides it being a single cross-platform tournament uh they're having weekly qualifiers and things are gonna be a little bit more spaced out so players don't feel burnt out from playing too much competitive in a single day players were playing like 17 16 hours of fortnite straight to compete in the winter royale and fortnite wants to kind of avoid that with fncs and give a little bit more time between the qualifiers and give more opportunities for people to rest in between gameplay so one thing that they're changing is actually if you qualify for the semifinals you can't play in the other qualifiers because i guess epic wants people to play like it matters and if somebody qualifies in the first week they're not gonna really try as hard and they might mess around a little bit and uh mess with the competitive integrity sometimes if they've already qualified they'll they'll definitely play a little bit more reckless and crazy in qualifier week two and three and opens up opportunities for people to get grief but like i said you're not missing out on money because the money is not given out from week to week all the prize pool is saved and given out in the finals so if you want to make money you have to make it to the semifinal slash finals and the prize pool from what i can tell if they're saving all the money for the end the prize pool is going to be pretty crazy the breakdown's right here actually eu is going to get 1.35 million dollars n a east is going to get about 700 000 na what's going to get 300 000 brazil 300 000 asia 150 middle east 120 and oceana 90 000 but that means that those that prize pool is actually going to be distributed among the top 100 players in the finals so i can imagine that first place for eu in the grand finals each player could be walking away with over a hundred thousand dollars that's a little bit less than the first ever trio fncs where some players were walking away with 40k like every week of the qualifiers plus the finals but this is definitely a step up and it is going to reward the consistent top pro players at the end of the day guys this isn't a charity for competitive tournament tournaments should be about rewarding the players who grind the most and make it to the top you know you can have tournaments like the winter royale where people in like 1 000th place get like 200 and it makes them feel good and it motivates them to keep competing that's fine the top of the line competitive events needs to be about the top players performing and staying on top and uh winning big prizes to motivate them to keep grinding because what was happening is a lot of pro players lost the motivation they saw the prize pools were getting smaller the events were like not as consistent this is their livelihood you know they played competitive fortnite for a living and the consistency was going away so some of them were retiring moving on to different games and i think like sure competitive is like a smaller part of fortnite like overall most of the casuals don't really care about competitive that much but i think it's still important to have a competitive scene for an overall healthy game a competitive scene is kind of important especially for a game like fortnite because you know little kids will look up to like a pro player and be like oh i want to one day i want to be like booga or benji fishy and that like motivation keeps people playing the game seeing how good someone can become at the game of fortnite can motivate people to stick around especially if they want to improve their own skills so this is great honestly epic has done a great job with this announcement they're talking they also like the rest of the blog posts talking about some broadcast changes that's not that important but let's talk about the competitive gameplay changes okay so this is like the first time epic has truly truly addressed different loot pools between competitive and pubs they've had different loopholes where some weapons will come in and they'll only go to pubs but this is the first time epic openly is like okay we are gonna make patch note changes and gameplay changes that only affects competitive because we feel like this will create a more competitive experience we finally are getting some patch notes in the form of these competitive changes and i'm all for it like this this form of communication is perfect so this is what's gonna happen this is gonna affect competitive playlists uh before fncs even starts so this is gonna affect arena and competitive tournaments the lever action shotgun is in in the game that's already been added they're vaulting the rift fish because the riff fish creates some unpredictable end games and it feels uh not like a very competitive item to have in the game because it's very random to have and it gives you a huge advantage their vaulting shock wave also for the same reason because shockwaves while they're cool for mobility in endgame when everybody's you know rotating and tunneling shockwaves create a lot of randomness and uh uncompetitive moments in my opinion they're also removing the elevators and io guards if you're wondering what the elevators are those are the i o guards that's what they use to get up um which is perfect io guards are very annoying especially in arena i'm glad the iron guards drop more loot now but i honestly avoid them at all costs and now they're going to be out of arena because they don't really have a place in arena san telling will still be enabled once they finally enable it in the actual game because it's a major part of the map and they've also made some adjustments to the amount of gold bars you have because before it was really hard to even upgrade your weapons i still think that every npc should give you the option to upgrade weapons because right now it's like certain pois have the luxury of being able to upgrade their weapons to purple and gold and other py's don't even have an npc even nearby at all and not every not every npc can upgrade only certain ones can so i think it should standardize that because before we had upgrade stations all over the map every single poi had an upgrade station um and now we have like a handful of npcs that upgrade throughout the map which is very inconsistent and not very competitive so that's something that they should probably consider is making all the npcs give you the option to upgrade your weapons using gold like i said they also have plans for other things like solo saturdays more trio cash cups and still gonna do some console and mobile exclusive competitions just not in the fncs so this is the biggest announcement fortnite has made regarding competitive since the world cup and it's all really good news a lot of pro players are reacting this on twitter and even content creators as well you know you got nick a30 sway mage mongrel bay's destiny monster d face a competitive commentator avery ducky benji fishy mr savage scoped booga everyone has a pretty positive response the most negative thing i can think of is that the console players will not have an fncs which really sucks for them but hopefully epic stays true to their ward and they give us some like decent console exclusive competitions to make up for the lack of a console fncs best of luck out there if you're planning to compete in fortnite in 2021 this is basically the road map of what you have to look forward to plenty of opportunities to compete and make some money if you're up for the task i hope you guys enjoyed today's video don't forget to like and subscribe i'll see you guys next time youhey what's up guys it's cypher epic just made their
