Alienware Area-51 THREADRIPPER Edition Hands-On Preview And BENCHMARKS

**Alienware Area 51 Thread Ripper Edition: A Beast of a PC**

The Alienware Area 51 Thread Ripper Edition is a custom chassis design that alien Weare developed for the first iteration. As you can see, the front edge of the system slopes down, allowing cool air to be pulled in from the front and exhausted out the back in an upwards fashion. This design feature allows for improved airflow and heat dissipation, which is essential for high-performance systems like this one.

**Key Features and Components**

The Alienware Area 51 Thread Ripper Edition features a number of key components, including a slot loading DVD player, audio inputs and outputs, USB 3.0, SD card reader, and Alienware lighting bling across all the edges. The system also comes with Alienware's proprietary lighting software, which allows users to control the color scheme across nine different zones either individually or in unison. This feature adds a touch of personalization to the system and makes it stand out from other gaming PCs.

**Inside the System**

When we popped off the side panel, we were greeted by a custom chassis design that houses the X399 motherboard. The system features a 1500W modular power supply, six PCIe slots, and an M2 NVMe SSD plugged directly into an M2 slot. One of the standout features of this system is the large, custom liquid cooler that Alienware has designed to keep the Ryzen Thread Ripper CPU cool.

**The Ryzen Thread Ripper 1950X: A 30% Performance Advantage**

The Ryzen Thread Ripper 1950X is a 16-core, 32-thread processor that is capable of delivering impressive performance in a variety of workloads. In Cinebench R15, the system scored an impressive 2879 points, which represents about a 30% performance advantage over Intel's Core i9-7900x Skylake X10 core chip. This is not surprising, given the Thread Ripper processor's ability to handle multiple threads and cores simultaneously.

**Benchmark Results**

To put this performance into perspective, we ran Cinebench R15 again, with the same system configuration. The results were striking: 2879 points on the first run, and 2905 points on the second run, which is a full 30% higher than the Intel Core i9-7900x Skylake X10 core chip.

**The Verdict**

The Alienware Area 51 Thread Ripper Edition is a beast of a PC that delivers impressive performance in a variety of workloads. With its custom chassis design, high-performance components, and powerful Ryzen Thread Ripper processor, this system is sure to please even the most demanding users. Whether you're a gamer, content creator, or simply someone who wants a fast and efficient computer, the Alienware Area 51 Thread Ripper Edition is definitely worth considering.

**Additional Features**

One of the features that we want to highlight is the custom retention brackets for graphics cards. These brackets allow for easy installation and removal of graphics cards, making it simple to upgrade or change your configuration as needed. This feature is particularly useful for users who plan to run multiple graphics cards in their system.

**Conclusion**

The Alienware Area 51 Thread Ripper Edition is a powerful and impressive gaming PC that delivers outstanding performance and features. With its custom chassis design, high-performance components, and powerful Ryzen Thread Ripper processor, this system is sure to please even the most demanding users. Whether you're a gamer or simply someone who wants a fast and efficient computer, this system is definitely worth considering.

little bit so this version of the Alienware Area 51 is based upon the same Triad chassis design that alien Weare developed for the first iteration and as you can see the front edge here slopes down down the rear edge slopes down as well allowing cool air to be pulled in from the front and exhausted out the back in an upwards fashion you've got a slot loading DVD Player audio inputs and outputs USB 3 SD card reader and of course Alienware lighting bling across all the edges the Alienware logo head in various points on the side panels as well and of course in typical Alienware fashion with alien effect software which is bundled with a machine you can control the lighting color scheme across nine different zones either individually or in unison as we're doing here as you can see with the click of a button we now get a nice blue hue we can switch over to Green maybe dial in a little bit of yellow whatever works for you that is anding effect software and of course that side panel with you can see the spread here between the mounting post for the socket for the cooler a little bit wider on the bottom here than it is on the top a little bit narrower so interesting socket configuration we're not going to disassemble that now because we still have some testing to do and we don't want to upset the apple cart um but that is the very large ryzen thread Ripper CPU socket also as you can see quad Channel memory setup we have a 16 gig configuration and up top here you can see the radiator which isn't that large actually uh but a uh a custom self-contained liquid cooler radiator and the fan here exhaust out the back the other thing that we'll underscore is that this is absolutely a pre-production Area 51 thread Ripper Edition system so configuration and setup could change but this is one of the features that I really like about the system as well anyware has these custom retention brackets for the graphics cards you can see there's a a metal plate a custom metal plate mounted to the back of the graphics card and it slides into this cage and these plastic retainer clips actually keep the cards in place just slide it down into the slot and it clicks in holding the card really firmly in place and there's three of these different clips ready to go we could set up triple 1080 TI if we wanted to in this config and that would be our quick little guided tour of in this specific benchmark so about a 30% Advantage Intel's core 9700x scoring about 2180 2190 in that test 2909 Here For ryzen Thread Ripper 1950x the 16 core chip let's hit it one more time just for fun but uh Alien wees Area 51 thread Ripper Edition ryzen thread Ripper 6 core 32 threads absolutely shredding it at 3.5 GHz is the Boost clock we're seeing right now and again about a 30% performance
