Why Get a Mac Podcast - Episode 03

MSN Internet Service and Messenger Service: A Comprehensive Guide

As of my knowledge cutoff, Microsoft is canceling its MSN internet service for the Mac, but I couldn't find any reliable sources to confirm this information. However, it's worth noting that there are many alternative internet services available, such as Comcast, Verizon, and DSL, which offer more competitive pricing and features.

On the other hand, MSN Messenger Service is still fully available for the Mac. To access it, simply visit Microsoft.com and follow the prompts to download and install the service. Alternatively, you can use third-party messaging apps like Adum, which allows you to connect to multiple networks, including AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and ICQ.

Adum is a popular alternative to traditional instant messaging services. It offers advanced features, such as customizable buddy lists and support for multiple networks. While it may not offer the same level of functionality as MSN Messenger Service, it's definitely worth checking out.

Gaming on Mac: What You Need to Know

When it comes to playing games on a Mac, there are several options available. However, not all games are compatible with macOS, and some may require additional software or hardware upgrades to run smoothly.

For those who want to play popular games like World of Warcraft and The Sims, there are Mac versions available that can be played directly on the device. Additionally, many games can be played using Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop, which allow users to run Windows operating systems on their Macs.

However, if you're looking for a more seamless gaming experience, it's worth investing in a Mac with a dedicated graphics card. The MacBook and Mac Mini are both capable of running games, but they may not offer the same level of performance as a machine with a dedicated graphics card.

In terms of storage, 100 GB is sufficient for photos and music, while 120 GB is recommended for hours of video, thousands of photos, and hours of music. However, considering that you'll be recording TV shows from ITV, I recommend saving money on the internal hard drive and investing in an external hard drive instead.

External Hard Drives: A Must-Have for Heavy Users

When it comes to storing large files like TV shows, it's essential to have a reliable and spacious storage solution. While 100 GB is sufficient for photos and music, you'll likely need more storage space for your TV show collection.

I recommend investing in an external hard drive with at least 200 GB of capacity. This will give you plenty of room to store your shows and ensure that you don't run out of space. Additionally, external hard drives are often more affordable than internal hard drives and can be easily connected to your Mac via USB.

The iMac: A Powerful Gaming Machine

As of my knowledge cutoff, the iMac is considered one of the best gaming machines available on the market. Its powerful processor and advanced graphics capabilities make it an ideal choice for playing demanding games like World of Warcraft.

However, there's a catch. The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be taking place soon, and Steve Jobs is expected to introduce new products, including potential upgrades to the iMac. If you're planning on purchasing an iMac, hold off until WWDC to see what new features and upgrades are available.

on the Mac while they're not as popular on the Mac you can play them um if you have World of Warcraft and The Sims the window versions you'll have to run them inside Boot Camp or Parallels Desktop however there are Mac versions of World of Warcraft and The Sims so that should be no problem for you make sure that you get a Mac that can run um games well too the MacBook and Mac Mini are nice systems but they have integrated Graphics from Intel meaning the graphics performance won't be that great you can probably run these games if you put the details low if if you set the details low so
