A Thrift Store Haul: A Treasure Trove of Vintage Finds and Surprises

As I rummaged through the thrift store shelves, I couldn't help but feel like I was on a treasure hunt. The racks of clothes seemed to whisper "pick me, pick me," each item vying for my attention with its unique charm. And then, just when I thought it was all about the clothing, I stumbled upon a stash of vintage books that made my heart skip a beat.

I found myself drawn to a vest collection, which I had never seen before. The concept behind it seemed intriguing - simply cutting out shapes and transferring them onto whatever surface you desired, then sewing them into place. I couldn't resist the urge to try it out, and I spent hours deconstructing some of the vests to create unique inserts for my junk journal.

As I continued to browse, I came across a series of men's clothing items that seemed to be part of a larger collection. The prices were surprisingly low, with most items ranging from $7 to $9.99. But it was the Bingo cards that really caught my eye - they were a steal at just $3.99 each! I couldn't resist buying all of them, knowing that they would make great additions to my junk journal.

But the real surprise came when I discovered a pair of joke and riddle books. The illustrations were beautiful, with vintage charm that made me feel like I had stumbled upon something truly special. I spent hours poring over the pages, marveling at the cleverness of the riddles and jokes. One book in particular caught my eye - "A Thousand and One Riddles" - which seemed to be compiled and illustrated by George L. Carlson.

As I delved deeper into the books, I began to notice a common thread - the use of vintage language and style. It was as if I had stepped back in time, transported to an era when life was simpler and more charming. The smell of old paper wafted through my senses, transporting me to a bygone age.

But it wasn't all smooth sailing. As I dug deeper into the thrift store haul, I realized that some of the books lacked production dates - a common practice in older publications. This only added to the allure of the vintage finds, making them feel even more special and unique.

And then, just when I thought it was all over, I stumbled upon the ultimate surprise - the age-old question "What room can no one enter?" The answer, much to my amusement, was "a mushroom." It seemed like a simple joke, but one that had been cleverly crafted by the author. As I continued to browse through the books, I found more of these clever riddles and jokes, each one leaving me in stitches.

In the end, I emerged from the thrift store with a haul that exceeded my wildest expectations. The total cost came out to be $77.82, a small price to pay for such a treasure trove of vintage finds. As I looked through the receipts, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction - after all, it's not every day you stumble upon Bingo cards and joke books in the same thrift store.

But what really stood out was the sheer variety of items I had found. From vest inserts to men's clothing, and from vintage riddles to clever jokes, each item seemed to have its own unique charm. It was as if the thrift store had been a gateway to a world of possibilities, where anything could be found and repurposed into something new and exciting.

As I packed up my finds and headed home, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected surprises that the thrift store had in store for me. And as I began to sort through my haul, I realized that each item had its own story to tell - of a bygone era, of clever joke writers, and of the thrill of the hunt.

So if you're looking for a treasure trove of vintage finds and surprises, look no further than your local thrift store. You never know what hidden gems you might stumble upon, or the adventures that will ensue when you turn them into something new and exciting.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enquickly becoming one of my favorite hauls that I do here on my haul Channel or my thrift store hauls so I went this time I actually had in mind that I wanted to look for like menswear because I do love to wear like menswear um because I'm very like casual and sporty and streetwear but I still make it like feminine in my own way and I usually go for menswear because of the oversized fit because sometimes I look for things that are fitted and sometimes I look for things that are oversized so I went to this thrift store with that in mind and I was also going to be looking for like my set of colors now I'm wearing pink today which is very rare for me I'm very neutral indeed um but I found a ton of stuff so not just clothing um I feel like I hit a pretty good jackpot so I'm just gonna show you guys let's just get started I'll actually start with the clothing first so I am so happy that I found this gray sweatshirt I believe this is a university in Alabama I don't know alabamians is that is that is that right um let me know if I'm right or wrong but I love also finding like t-shirts and sweatshirts with like schools and places that I just I don't really know about so but I have to point out that this is a Champion sweatshirt so the qualities is completely there I love a gray sweatshirt I love how it's going to fit on me personally this is an XL and I believe where what I just do with the receipt I believe sweatshirts what were they it was like either 6.99 or 7.99 for this like what what yeah so love it I don't personally know if I'm gonna do any sort of styling in today's video but how I would basically wear this is with leggings leggings like my scrunched up socks my tennis shoes my hat like this is just very much me I live for being comfortable all right next up another thing that I really wanted on my list was to look for anything Ralph Lauren as well and button-ups in this instance I actually found a Tommy Hilfiger which this looks like the designer back in the 90s that like everyone was wearing and I'm so glad he kind of like just made a really good comeback so I feel like Tommy Hilfiger for me fell off the radar for a little bit and I'm really into the button-ups I feel like it's a great piece for me living by the beach because I can use this as like a beach cover-up I love that it has a high low feature as well so I just it's like one of my favorites and I like the stripe so for me I would make it feminine by having a bathing suit on you know cute earrings or something or if I'm wearing it out I would for sure do my makeup um to just make it you know to to like balance the the masculine and The Feminine I would definitely have makeup on and have jewelry on and it would be really cute you could also like I would throw this over like leggings you could do riding boots you could do tennis shoes um you could also wear these in a pair of jeans however if I were to wear a men's button up with a pair of jeans I would size it differently like I wouldn't do an oversized fit I would do more of like a men's small that way um there wouldn't be so much material like tucking into the jeans so I was really happy I think this was like 6.99 um all right next up I found also on my list I want to just like see what I could find in Black again my goal really was I wanted oversized things and I did this because when I kind of looked in my closet I was like oh I want I just want a couple more pieces where they kind of like go past the booty you know what I mean so I found this it's like a plain black sweatshirt and it was in the men's section it's a large and that's it I don't know what brand this is I have no idea it just has a large it's not that doesn't really have a brand on there there's even like a slit on the side so yeah a good black staple for me you know how I am um this item right here y'all I found Eddie Bauer in this like Navy cable knit also men's I don't know what size this is it's an extra large um but it looks more like a small to me but it says it's an extra large and Eddie Bauer for like 6.99 at the thrift store so and these are my colors neutrals Grays whites blacks Blues I also do um greens Browns here is another Brown sweatshirt I don't really know what this logo is there's also a little like Mark there but I don't actually mind this is Everlast actually so that's a really good brand too it's an extra large so this was 6.99 and I it's simple and weird and I'm so happy with it you know what I mean it's like do you just have like shopping days where you you get things that like makes you really happy but it's just like the smallest thing that was that for me here's another gray sweatshirt this one is plain yeah I just I have not been a fan of like women's sized sweatshirts or sweatshirts that just like fit my body I would prefer them to be bigger and I think that's primarily because I just like a certain look when I'm wearing leggings and I want things to like go past you know the booty so it's just a good staple heather gray sweatshirt there's no design I mean this is steel for me a large goes with so many of my hats now this item I saw it and it is LL Bean and it is a plaid button down button up whatever men's as well but I got it for next Christmas like I I wasn't gonna walk away from it if it had been like no brand or just not a bigger brand I I wouldn't have grabbed it but because it was LL Bean I was just like yeah no I'm I'm gonna take that home with me and I could just see myself you know with like a cute little knit um hat with the fuzz ball leggings scrunch up socks winter boots yeah so let's just yeah completely me that's it for the Wardrobe now I'll show you guys the real jackpot because I was not expecting this I'll tell you that so I found this little engine here it is I was able to yeah I don't know what what this is supposed to be for if anyone knows like comment down below because I just don't have a freaking clue if I found anything worth of value it just looked like something I would love um it just definitely has that like English country old world look to it is it Oil Can you know for like 10 I don't I don't know but I thought it was cute I picked it up that was like 4.99 all right then I found not one but two of these bingo game sets and it just it looked vintage to me I didn't really get a chance to kind of look at it so I don't it was 3.99 um I don't know if that's what they charge me it says Whitman it says Whitman publishing and if there's one thing I've learned about all of this hunting down games cards playing cards is that back in the day Whitman was like the name for board games um so I'm thinking this has to be pretty old you guys um here is what looks like there's like random paper pieces Bingo cards I mean look at these Bingo cards and how vintage it's like I love crafting with Bingo cards so the fact that it looks like an entire complete set is blowing my mind I don't know if it is I don't know if I have all the chips or what but I do have a second box and it's just like let me open this one I opened them up this one looks more complete than the other one it definitely looks like there's more of these in here but the fact that this is really what I grabbed them for I grabbed them for these and the fact that so many are still here if not all of them and when you look like this is actual vintage it aged like this on its own I don't know if you can see all of the dust and I don't even know rust I don't even know really what that is it's not coming off so I was so excited because I've been waiting for this I've been waiting for the day that I found anything Bingo related so I was jumping up and down I also decided to get these little poker chips which were 1.99 and really I'm just trying to think outside the box when it comes to like my junk journaling and I thought that maybe I could do something with these poker chips they're just red and blue you know I could probably just have ended up getting a bag of like multi-colors from Amazon but I thought maybe these just were probably a little bit more vintage I don't know the production date on this at all it says model number 1033 racked model number 1031 not racked what whatever that means but that tells me it's kind of old because I talked about this before in like my last hauls where they used to number things a lot in production back in the day um and I don't feel like they do that maybe they do maybe they do and I don't know what I'm talking about um it was made in the USA but I don't see any sort of like production date on here so I found those all right next up also something that I really just I've been so envious of seeing like when I watch YouTube videos and I see other Crafters have these and they talk about finding them at like garage sales and and thrift stores and I'm just so envious so I have never been able to find them and I found them and this is a thrift store I go to like this is the one I always go to and that's the thing you just never know what's gonna show up and when it's gonna show up but I have been looking for these which are like the sewing patterns and really for the packaging and it does have the sewing pattern here so that's amazing but really I'm going for this image because I can turn this into a cover or a page inside of a junk Journal because it's just really cute if you watch a lot of junk journalers on YouTube you've probably seen something like this I also found this one what and look like it's got like all this writing on here it's got the it looks complete then we have a McCall's like I actually found a McCall's pattern this was like this used to be a thing in my life and that I'm wondering how much of this was in my own home growing up because my grandmother was a seamstress and I'm just wondering but I don't know if my grandmother used patterns because I feel like she did a lot of freehand but I really don't know I'll need to ask her actually then I found quick sew look how cute what so freaking darling all right so I found those and then I found this which I still don't actually know what I grabbed I just grabbed it and put in the cart and didn't question anything you know um and this is really my first time looking at this it's 1.99 I don't even know what's inside of this I just know that this alone was enough for me to want it because I knew I could do something with this but it looks like patterns as well these I could definitely use as like sheets and my signatures for my junk Journal Journal um but yeah it looks like some type of sewing thing as well but I'm impressed I feel I mean I feel like is the whole thing still intact is there even a piece missing out of this I don't it looks like maybe bedding maybe some type of bedding I don't know I feel like it is because based off of the photo it's like a bed yeah on the back it gives you the whole thing like how to make the pillows I I'm so excited then I found these I also have no idea really what these are um this is like a cardigan cut out but what ended up in my card about this was that the fabric there's like the actual Fabric in here that I think is so that you can use and cut it out and then lay it as an applique over and you sew it onto like whatever piece have you seen my best collection like this is right up my alley if you have never seen my vest collection I will link that video down below go watch it here's this one the same concept you just cut it and then transfer it to whatever and sew it but I'm thinking I'm gonna probably deconstruct some of these for my junk Journal I don't know we'll see so I'm definitely going to hang on to these and I'm eventually going to do something really fun with it and then they give you the material it's hard because there's more material all throughout but that's just how it's packaged and I got them all even though some of them I was like uh but then I was like you know what no this is a once in a lifetime thing that needs to like I need to be in possession of so it's yeah it's a no-sew fabric applique what and then here's this one did y'all hear him he's sleeping because he's running his legs are running he's going after something um and then this one just like apples please this is just this is giving me Baby Boom vibes Okay so how how did I get so I feel like this probably came from the same person who donated all this like it just has that feeling you know what I mean so I found those um but we're not done yet I also found this book it was 2.99 it's the stretch and Sew sewing book part two um and when I went through it there's pictures it just definitely is something that I will deconstruct and use these pages into my junk journaling inserts just because they have that really pretty you know vintage quality I'm like what and I almost missed these probably my favorite find of the entire haul are these little joke and riddle books I feel like I stumbled upon something pretty old again they just went straight into my cart I haven't even seen all this stuff till just now unpacked it and um let's see if I can't find a production date I don't see one which you know back in the day sometimes they did production dates sometimes they didn't like nowadays You'll Always Find a production date um but it wasn't something that was like done consistently so that tells me this is a very old um it could definitely be 1930s it could be 1940s um anything older I don't believe that it would be because it would have a production date um especially like 80s is I think when they really started it um so I definitely feel like like look at these pages they are gorgeous how is it in such good shape how do I have it a plot and monk Funtime book that just God it smells old uh then we have a thousand and one riddles let's see if this one has a production date I mean it's the same yeah it's compiled and illustrated by George L Carlson it's the same as it's the same author illustrator um so there's no production date on this either but you can clearly see it is the same style and their riddles that is so cute wow what room can no one enter that's the answer let me look it up and I'll tell y'all what room can no one enter comment let me know what you think the answer is pause this video so I don't give you the answer away but I'm about to say the answer so just pause what room can no one enter that's kind of a trick question because the answer is a mushroom what is the age of communication what the hell does that mean postage that's the answer why can't a cook swallow his apron well because I don't know he died but the answer is because it goes against his stomach okay we've definitely gotten better at riddles as time has evolved but I was going for the illustration I'm definitely again going to use some of these as like inserts into my junk Journal signatures so that is it for today's video I hope you guys enjoyed today's haul I am so happy with this thrift store trip I feel like I really scored in the end let me see what my receipt says um on what I spent in total with everything I spent 77.82 so a big bulk was all the men's clothing being 699 699 one piece was 7.99 um but yeah and then the Bingo is worth 3.99 but overall like 77 for all of this all of these clothings all of these great finds like I I still can't believe like the actual jackpot that I hit here Bingo cards and all so anyways that's it if you guys enjoy my Thrift hauls or just any of my hauls on my channel don't forget to give me a thumbs up and subscribe before you leave if you aren't already thank you guys I'll see you next time bye foreignquickly becoming one of my favorite hauls that I do here on my haul Channel or my thrift
