How to Keep Your Room Clean! Habits for a Clean Room

The Secret to Keeping Your Closet Clean and Organized

Just to keep them organized I remove my jewelry and then I hang up my jacket if I'm wearing one. This is now a habit so I'm not just coming in and throwing my stuff everywhere which is what I used to do. So, I have found the number one key to keeping your closet clean is to not overcrowd it. The less clothing you have, the easier it is to keep things clean. So, if you haven't done a closet sweep in a while, I recommend doing one. I did an entire video on my process for doing this and even though I did a massive closet cleanout, I could still always go in and find more stuff to get rid of. That's just kind of a baseline.

To maintain the cleanliness of your closet, it is also essential to keep multiple laundry baskets and put them in the places where you're typically getting undressed. I used to only have one in my closet, but I would notice that when I would go to shower, it was too far away, so my clothes would still end up on the floor. Having the laundry baskets close to you and where you need them is going to make you more likely to use them and prevent clothes ending up all over the floor. Additionally, I have set a designated laundry day, which for me is Monday. This is a routine and a habit for me, so now my laundry doesn't pile up.

A great baseline to keep your vanity clean is to do a makeup sweep regularly. What I do is put the makeup I haven't used in a while in a bin, and if I haven't gone to reach for any of the items in 6 months, then I get rid of it. When doing my makeup, my habit is now to put each item away as I use it. This way, there is zero cleanup afterwards. I used to be a human cyclone when getting ready, but now I just make the conscious effort to put away each thing as I'm using it.

Another essential tip for maintaining a clean vanity is to keep a spray bottle with a vinegar-water cleaning solution under your vanity area. This makes it very easy to wipe down the counter and sink when needed. I also find that having a separate cup for dirty makeup brushes helps in keeping track of what needs to be cleaned. By following these simple tips, you can maintain a clean and organized vanity.

When it comes to the bathroom, re-evaluating what you keep on your bathroom countertops is crucial. Moving as much as possible into drawers will help reduce clutter and make cleaning easier. Having too many items on the counter no matter how neatly they are laid out makes the space look cluttered, and it's easy for that clutter to build on itself. To combat this, I recommend wiping down my counter sink and mirror every day or two.

A key strategy for managing a messy roommate or significant other is to designate specific areas as "messy zones." For example, Ryan has his closet where he can be as messy as he wants, and I have designated baskets around the house where he can put his junk. By creating these contained areas, you can maintain a clean living space without having to constantly remind others of their mess.

Expanding your DMZ (designated messy zone) area is another option for those who need more space. One viewer asked if they could expand from a closet to 1,500 square feet, and while that may be an extreme case, it's clear that some individuals require a larger space to manage their clutter. By identifying your specific needs and creating a designated area for messiness, you can maintain a clean and organized living space.

If you're looking for inspiration on how to organize different areas of your home, I recommend checking out my video on DIY bathroom organization. In this video, I share my process for organizing inside your drawers, which has been a total game-changer for me. By implementing these strategies and making cleaning a habit, you can maintain a clean and organized living space that reflects your personality and style.

video and in the comments of that video somebody suggested that I do habits for keeping a clean room I thought that was a wonderful idea so I could go into a little bit more detail and for room I'm going to include the main bedroom area bathroom vanity area and closet so I'm going to cover a lot of area so the whole idea here is that if you do these little things every day it becomes a habit and then you don't have to do massive deep cleans of your room your room is pretty much going to stay clean and if you're not already subscribed to my channel I would love to have you as a subscriber I do a lot of cleaning organization home and lifestyle videos so if that is something you're interested in make sure you're subscribed and with all of that said let's jump into it so I'm sure you already know the tip to make your bed so here are some things I do to make the process easier the first is to remove some pillows the more pillows you have on your bed the more time and trouble it takes every day to remove them put them all back so I cut back from nine pillows to five and it just makes the entire process so much faster and I keep the extra pillows in a closet and I only put them out now if I have guess over or if I'm filming a video the next thing I do is I sleep on top of my duvet with an extra blanket this way I don't really mess up the bed at all when I sleep and all I need to do in the morning is just fold up that one blanket and tuck it away the next area that can get messy really quickly is the night stick stand I find this area is a complete magnet for clutter so I recommend doing a sweep by emptying out your entire nightstand and then putting back in only the essentials neatly into the drawer so that way you have everything organized and clutter free and it also just looks a lot cleaner and neater to the eye the next thing I recommend is having a system you follow every time you walk in the door I walk straight into my closet I take off my shoes then I hang up my purse and I use a coat rack for my purses just to keep them organized I remove my jewelry and then I hang up my jacket if I'm wearing one this is now a habit so I'm not just coming in and throwing my stuff everywhere which is what I used to do so I have found the number one key to keeping your closet clean is to not overcrowd it the less clothing you have the easier it is to keep things clean so
