could send me one and here we are so it really is good that it replication says let's find out Oh first up is a quick look around the motherboards design a design that I look it's got a really nice neutral color scheme with edgy lines and dark grays and blacks which paired with good RGB implementation will fit in with virtually any color scheme the top-left of the board has a bulk style RGB area which is split into four LEDs and can be programmed for some really cool gradient and special effects the left hand side in the middle board also has some nice plastic shielding hiding up the otherwise ugly i/o area and also plastic shielding around the supreme effects audio chipset to prevent any e/m interference I would have loved to have seen some RGB implementation on the ROG lobe on the chipset cooler but aside from that a dual of the design here I really do think this board looks great the soft touch dark gray plastic paired with a nice brushed dark grey metal and the shiny black is just perfect and with the performance gap tightening so much on motherboards nowadays design really is a massive factor and this board definitely wins on that front for me next I'm going to talk around the board and point out all the key features connectors and layout of this motherboard the top part is as expected occupied by the am full socket with support for rising five thousand seven and of course a new rising three CPUs all on my rise and coverage can be found now in the card section as if you don't check out related content you're more than welcome to do so there above and below that am for sake do of course have at your CPU cooler mounting brackets and what's really cool here is Asus actually have an extra two holes on the top and the bottom allowing you to actually use a m3 compatible callers CPU coolers that you would otherwise used on FX line of CPUs on this motherboard without any extra mounting hardware or modification which is really nice feature in my opinion to the right of the socket you've got four round dims each supporting sixteen gigabytes of RAM for a maximum of 64 gigs around in a dual channel configuration and this is one of the only major notable downsides that I see with Rosen 7 over X 299 is that for some reason if you need quadrant of memory or in even more than 64 gigabytes XG 99 may be the better bet that with risings to Agrippa now here that's another option to assess and actually period 2x 299 in terms of price to performance with X 299 essentially being handicapped Xeon CPUs because V RMS to significantly overheat with any sign of a slight overclock inside bitching aside though around the CPU socket we once again see is fantastic darker gray brushed metal finish and form of our CPU heatsink which call it the V RMS aces have opted for an A+ to phase power delivery here with two of the phases dedicated to overclocking that compared with 12 faded on aces flagship X 370 overclocking board on the top left of this motherboard we have the 8 pin CPU power connector you don't need an auxilary 4 pin power here for better overclocking due to the fact this plainly a headroom left given that AMD rosin is such an efficient CPU in terms of power consumption on the bottom right of the board on the chipset heatsink the nice edgy dart grade brushed metal aesthetic continues the nice shiny asus rog logo that I wish was RGB and a lovely heating design to the left of the chipset heatsink we of course have the PCIe languages for installing graphics card expansion cards network cards all of that sort of thing and they come in in the following order X 1 X 16 X 1 X 16 X 1 X 16 all those numbers of course being physical length the bandwidth to each of these runner will of course depend on what still actually populate with what and of course the PSLE lanes that you have on your chosen cpu the top 2 x16 length slots on this board so starts to and for a PCI 3.0 is the recipe in pcie 2.0 these are also the recommended slots for installation of graphics cards as they feature the metal shroud in which prevents against motherboard damage based on heavy GPU sag when you've got one GPU installed that we run at the full x16 bandwidth and when you've got to it will half it so each one will get x8 x8 in the two aforementioned metal reinforced PCIe slots and with SLI and crossfire and 3 and 4 Way conflicts basically dead at this point you're only really going to be having a maximum of two graphics cards and 9% of people probably stick to the one anyway under the chipset he seems on this board you have another board singular m dot two slots now for some people this won't be enough but it down to pci lane restrictions and limitations some of the board manufacturers get around this by using different pci lanes splitters but that may reduce the bandwidth to the end of two slots so I can see a this is fairly logical decision here to stick with the one even some of them much more expensive X 370 boards just have one end to slot and the two slots are great though for installing superfast SSDs and circumvent any Saturday speed bottlenecks in terms of i/o this motherboard seems pretty comprehensive on the rails got two USB 2.0 ports you've also got this paper and HDMI connections the future rising chips with integrated graphics or budget budget rise an APU sorry that we may come too soon see the six USB 3.0 ports two USB 3.1 ports one to type 8 on one type C variety if then of course probably gigabit rj45 Ethernet out your 7.13 in a half mil connections and an optical audio output now I was going to moan here about the lack of any BIOS flash button on the rear or even the lack of a cue code display which can be great for easy debug and diagnostics on the motherboard but you'd have to sympathize with these manufacturers slightly they have to distinguish between a different tier board on their different chipsets and this is one of the ways they do it you want the kyouko display you want the bus flash back buttons you're going to have to spend a little bit more and searching around the different manufacturers MSI gigabyte as our up to name a few literally other little board manufacturers provided these features on equivalently priced boards so I can't really Mon here although they are fantastic features to have one thing this motherboard does have no to circumvent some of the loss that you might be feeling because that cuter display is a four LED system one for deer and one for graphics card one CPM one for boot which will help to diagnose your boot up problems which actually came in pretty useful for me I'll take a cue code over that any day of the week but it'll also save $100 in the process by getting this board over one of the more higher-end options for such a simple feature sacrifice looking at humble connectivities once again pretty damn good you get seven fun headers three up top and three down the bottom one and at the i/o shield this is a really nice number in my opinion as it allows for intake exhaust fan and a 240 male radiator with a pump to be mounted up top that some of the boards do scrimp unnecessarily on fat headers and thankfully this little board is an exception to that down the side of the board we see the expected 24 pin motherboard power a USB 3.1 through panel header and eight right-angled set at three six give it the second port along the bottom from right to left there is the front part of connections the aforementioned tubes and headers two USB 3 headers which is nice or that would have preferred to have one of these right angled down the right hand side you also get this oneness b2 head out which might not be quite sufficient enough for some you also get the second of two four pins RGB headers the first be in place at the top of the board it irritates me slightly that this is white plastic still I don't get that make it black the white stands out like a sore thumb and many of the motherboard manufacturers has made it black by this point to round off the bottom of the board there is a TPM connector which is an Asus connector that can securely store key digital data and passwords apparently I don't if you've ever heard of it if you have let me know in the comments below never used it never heard of it don't rid of how it works if I'm being brutally honest and then of course you get the HD audio connections at the bottom for headphone and microphone front panel case jacks next up is the performance and overclocking section of today's review I putted this motherboard against MSI's X 370 gaming Pro carbon board which is also a name for board with the X 370 chips at a similar price point with a similar feature sets and mercian frame rate for configurations of 5% either way between the two boards with the same configuration now this is very very normal and in within the margin of error in terms of any background process that windows might have on into theorem also to do a room temperature as well all those little factors going to set performance in tiny ways and even down to the Cinebench cores which were less than 25 apart based on the average of three tests on each there's nothing to worry about both these boards are good choices in terms of performance to worry about here which is really really good news in terms of overclocking there's two major approaches to this you can either go in and manually change the voltages and the clock speeds and all that good stuff through the BIOS to try and get your best stable overclock stress tested each time to find the best result or you can do it the slightly lazy way but more efficient way in my opinion which through Asus is flagship 5 weight optimization this can be done either in the BIOS or in Windows but if I take you through AI Suite 3 which is the Windows room of doing it it makes things up really nice it's really easy to use and there's loads of really cool stuff what it will do is it'll go through and assess several factors of your PC and then will Auto overclock and streamline several parts of your computer for example it will auto overclock your cpu based both on your chips overclocking capability so they can lottery outcome as well as your calling set up in short this handy dandy code algorithm here expended pretty well it will boost the speed by set amount run a stress test to ensure the CPU is stable and repeat until it can get the best stable result it works pretty well I managed to get my rise in 1708 core 16 and thread CPU from a base of 3 new hats and a booster 3.4 to 3.6 4 gigahertz without any instability performance or thermal throttling issues it will also go through an automatic overclock or ramp for you I'll I'll be discussing more about RAM in the notable aside section of this review they did experience quite a few issues and found some solutions so when using 64 gigabytes of RAM with AMD rising chips it will also go through and change power phase and vrm settings to try and get you the most streamlined overclock you can also run fan optimization which will automatically create presets to just silent normal turbo and full speed based on the specific funds you are using as you trying at the best call performance to sound ratio you can also create different presets and exceptions for different pieces of software that you may run for example if you learn the editing software or your game and you want your fans to ramp up to a much higher mode you can do that Adobe Premiere doesn't play ball very well with certain overclock settings on the CPU but I want my CPU overclock a good gaming performance you can do all of that in this AR Suite 3 software whether that be through the actual windows application or through the motherboard BIOS itself the motherboard actually includes a pretty good software suite which can download from their website I'll put a link in the description below which allows you to do those different things the main piece of software that I use aside from the aforementioned AI Suite 3 is that over RGB sync software not only can you control the onboard RGB S on this board you can also found particularly useful you've got good thumb monitoring the boot priorities and boot override it easy to access you've got a nice asus rog red and black color scheme and it does what I need personally I still prefer marginally the msi buy us however this does come in a close second the major motherboard manufacturers flanking behind Asus BIOS in general there's a really really good job and although some of the random sessions were slightly more buried than I'd like an XMP was slightly more difficult to normal to enable I was pretty impressed and pretty satisfied with this by offering that brings me nicely I'll know to the penultimate section of my review the notable aside section in which today I'm going to talk about my rhizomes based Ram rose wow that was a mouthful now getting 64 gigabytes of ram to work with this for 16 gigabyte DIMMs with an absolute pain in the backside I got booth absolutely no problem to begin with but as soon as run usage 90% for example in premiere the whole thing would just crash and then it blue screen and it'd just be caught on this whole loop of just instability it would have booyah then would boot it wouldn't move but it was blaming it on the graphics card or CPU or the RAM and not having that cue code that did make things a bit more difficult but as I said for the price point I'm not complaining eventually though after going through the the default debugging stages I did discover it was a round based issue enough to get 64 gigs of RAM some work you need to go into the motherboard BIOS and manually change the timings of the RAM so that it lines up exactly with what the RAM state also had to sacrifice quite a lot of speed this kits rated for over three point three gigahertz and will only really work stabili at two thousand four hundred megahertz it doesn't seem to be particularly an asus motherboard problem as i have seen the murmurs of rosin based ramp woes but hopefully we will see some BIOS updates and fixes in the near future for this I did update the BIOS to the latest version but that actually killed the end up to SSD so add to them flash back to a previous version of the BIOS I will throw in a new bus version comes out to see if this will work once again at that rated 3333 megahertz speeds on this great 64 gig ram kit from crucial it's not the tool default of crucial but for the meantime I'm just going to have to stick with what works and stick with what is stable I tried to delay this review until I could get a bit of a fix or a bias update for this but in the end open can really hold up this review for too much longer so if you are planning on using 64 gigs around this board make sure you do that the Google beforehand but that basically wraps it up for this video if you didn't enjoy it's offering that brings me nicely I'll know to the penultimate section of my review the notable aside section in which today I'm going to talk about my rhizomes based Ram rose wow that was a mouthful now getting 64 gigabytes of ram to work with this for 16 gigabyte DIMMs with an absolute pain in the backside I got booth absolutely no problem to begin with but as soon as run usage 90% for example in premiere the whole thing would just crash and then it blue screen and it'd just be caught on this whole loop of just instability it would have booyah then would boot it wouldn't move but it was blaming it on the graphics card or CPU or the RAM and not having that cue code that did make things a bit more difficult but as I said for the price point I'm not complaining eventually though after going through the the default debugging stages I did discover it was a round based issue enough to get 64 gigs of RAM some work you need to go into the motherboard BIOS and manually change the timings of the RAM so that it lines up exactly with what the RAM state also had to sacrifice quite a lot of speed this kits rated for over three point three gigahertz and will only really work stabili at two thousand four hundred megahertz it doesn't seem to be particularly an asus motherboard problem as i have seen the murmurs of rosin based ramp woes but hopefully we will see some BIOS updates and fixes in the near future for this I did update the BIOS to the latest version but that actually killed the end up to SSD so add to them flash back to a previous version of the BIOS I will throw in a new bus version comes out to see if this will work once again at that rated 3333 megahertz speeds on this great 64 gig ram kit from crucial it's not the tool default of crucial but for the meantime I'm just going to have to stick with what works and stick with what is stable I tried to delay this review until I could get a bit of a fix or a bias update for this but in the end open can really hold up this review for too much longer so if you are planning on using 64 gigs around this board make sure you do that the Google beforehand but that basically wraps it up for this video if you didn't enjoy it's probably taking me like an hour and a half to record with like 20 different cakes and most scripts down ere and now the rooms gone dark and everything's a disaster if you enjoy this video they do make
