October TBR!!

My October TBR: A Month of Magical Reads

Hey guys, it's Regan and I'm here to bring you my October TBR. We're full swing into fall right now, which means one thing - endless Harry Potter movie marathons and Halloween. This month, I really want to get a lot of reading done. Honestly, I love reading during this month because there's just something about the crisp autumn air that makes me feel cozy and bookish.

I'm also going to say that every month is my favorite time of year, okay? But there are a lot of books on my list for October, so I've got a substantial TBR to keep track of. Let's start with the first book - or rather, the illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which comes out this month. I haven't received my copy yet, but when I do, I'm going to immediately jump on it because I just can't wait to read that book with the beautiful illustrations. The pictures are just stunning - they've been created into this world for a while now, and I love them.

I think what I love most about these Harry Potter books is how well they balance adventure, humor, and heartwarming moments. As a fan of the series, it's always exciting to dive back in and see where the journey takes me next. With the Prisoner of Azkaban, we get introduced to Sirius Black, a new character who becomes a close friend to Harry and Ron, and the story delves deeper into the wizarding world's complexities.

Next up on my list is A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab. This is the second book in the Darker Shade of Magic series, which I devoured last month. I'm so excited to continue on with this magical world and see where some of my favorite characters end up next. The first book was a game-changer for me - it introduced a unique magic system and explored the complexities of power and morality. I feel like the world is so expansive and large, with so much to offer, that I'm always eager to dive back in.

I have to say, I've talked about this series incessantly since I first started reading it. It's just one of those magical worlds that draws you in and refuses to let go. The way Schwab weaves together multiple Londons, each with its own unique magic system, is simply genius. And the characters! Oh, the characters. They're so complex and multi-dimensional, with their own motivations and conflicts that make them feel like real people.

Moving on from fantasy to something a bit darker - I'm excited to dive into Scythe by Neil Schusterman. This book feels like the perfect October read to me. It's set in a world where all these terrible things have been done away with, but at what cost? The only way someone can die now is if a scythe kills them, and our protagonist is training to become one of those deadly blades. I love how this book explores the consequences of a society that values efficiency and order above all else.

Schusterman is known for his thought-provoking and often uncomfortable novels, and Scythe is no exception. This book has been getting rave reviews from readers and critics alike, and I'm excited to see what all the fuss is about. It's also an award-winning young adult novel, which always makes me happy.

I've heard fantastic things about this book - Neil Schusterman is a master of exploring the human condition through his writing, and Scythe is no exception. I love how it puts a mirror up to our own society and shows us where we might be falling short. And the world-building! Oh, the world-building in this book is just incredible.

Last but not least on my list is the new Magnus Chase novel. This series has been one of my favorites for a while now - it's based on Norse mythology and follows our main character, Magnus, as he navigates the gods' world and gets caught up in all sorts of epic adventures. I'm a huge fan of Rick Riordan, who always manages to create worlds that feel both magical and real.

I love how this series balances humor and heartwarming moments with action-packed plot twists and godly battles. It's just one of those series that feels like it was made for me - the characters are so unique and quirky, and the world is just so full of wonder and excitement. I'm always eager to see where the journey takes Magnus next.

And finally, I want to talk about my love for Rick Riordan's writing style. He has a way of creating worlds that feel both magical and real, with characters who are unique and memorable. The Magnus Chase series feels very separate from his other Heroes of Olympus series, which is another favorite of mine. It's like he created an entirely new world, one that's full of its own magic and wonder.

Overall, I'm so excited to dive into these books this October. There's something about the autumn air that makes me feel cozy and bookish, and I know that reading will be a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Let me know in the comments down below some books you guys want to read this month - I'd love to hear what everyone else is excited for!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enHey, guys, it's Regan and today, I'm here to bring you my October TBR. We are full swing into fall right now. It's officially October which can only mean one thing, endless Harry Potter movie marathons andHalloween. This month, I really want to get a lot of reading done.I just love reading during this month but just going in the rest months of the year. Honestly,I'm gonna say that every month because this is my favorite time of year okay? But there are a lot of booksI want to pick up so I have quite a substantial TBR.So I'm just gonna go ahead and jump right in.The first book, I'm just gonna quickly mention, and that is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This is the Chamber of Secrets one. But the illustrated edition of the Prisoner of Azkaban comes out this monthand I haven't received my copy yet, but when I doI'm going to immediately jump on that because Icannot wait to read that book with the illustrated editions. The pictures are just beautiful. I've been enjoying it ever since these begun to becreated into this world, and I just want to continue on with the third one.The next book I want to read is the book I'm actually currently reading and that is The Queen of Attoliaby Megan Whalen Turner. This is actually a book I've already started. I'm about 100 pages in and so farI'm really really enjoying it so far.Honestly the start of this book has captured my attention even quickerthan the first novel, The Thief, which is really saying something as I really enjoyed The Thief. This is the second book to a fantasy story that involves a multiple kingdom, like politicalsituation, and our main character is the thief who can basically stealanything and everything. We follow him in a journey into the second book here and so farit is much darker than the first one andI honestly have noidea where it's going to turn and I cannot wait to find out. I will report back on this. The next bookI'm going to talk about is the Perusetopia book club, book of the month for the month of October, and this monthSasha and I picked TheEnchantment of Ravens by Margaret Roberson. This novel is one of Sasha and I's both most anticipated books of the year. This just sounds like a wonderfulatmospheric, high fantasy story that you know Sashaand I love to talk about. In this story follows our main character Isabel who lives in a world where faefolk exist. And the thing with these particular types of fae, they can't actuallywrite or paint anything without it crumbling to dust. Therefore, human crafts made by human merchants is something that is very sought-afterby this fae folks. And our main character, Isabel, is actually a painter. She gets herself in a bit of political trouble, however, when she gets her first royal clientand she paints human sorrow in his eyes. This action threatens his power and also his throne and Rook, the patron that then spirits her away. This book just sounds incrediblyatmospheric. I love the element of human craft and fae power.I've heard really good things about this story, and I honestly cannot wait to dive in. I love a good fae story.I'm always a sucker for it. So very excited to read and discuss this book throughout the month. The next book I plan to read this month, was sent to me for review by the author, who I'm working with for this videoand that is London, Can You Wait? and this is by Jacqueline Middleton. This is the sequel to London Belongs to Me,which I read last year and really enjoyed. In the first novel, London Belongs to Me, follows our main character Alex Sinclaire who moves to London to pursue her dream ofplaywriting. There she meets a few friends, kind of grapples with her own personal anxiety and fears, as well asdiscovers kind of real friends, fake friends, and falls in love. It has a lot of really fun theatrical elements which is somethingI really enjoyed, as I was involved in theatre for a very long time.So it's cool to see the playwriting element in a novel. This, of course, is the sequel to that book and takes place right afterthe events of the first one. In this novel, Alex continues to deal with a lot of her own personalstress and anxiety, as she deals with an anxiety disorder, as well as panic attacks. She also continues to try to push her playwriting career forward, continually deal with and make friends, but there's obviously ahuge romanticelement in this novel as well, with a lot of drama centering around that. I don't want to spoil againwhat happens in the first book. This sequel, London, Can You Wait?,sounds just as cute and fun as the first one but it does seem like it has a bit of a moredramatic edge to it, which I'm actually really looking forward to. So I'm excitedsee how the story carries on into the second book. The next book I want to get to this month isA Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab. This, of course, is the second book to the Darker Shade of Magicseries. I read the first one last month, really enjoyed it, and I'm going to continue on with this book this month.Again, I feel like I've talked about this book incessantlybut it is a magical story that follows parallel Londons and magic between those Londons. The first book ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and kind of a question mark to a continuation of the journey.Obviously the plot wrapped up in the last book. But I feel like the world is so expansive and so large, it has so much to offer so I'm so excitedto see where some of my favorite characters end up in this sequel. The next book that is on my list is another highly anticipated novel and that is the new Magnus Chase novel.Obviously, this is the second book that I read last year. But you guys know, I'm a huge Rick Riordan fan.I read his books every time they come out immediately. And that of course is going to be the case for the newMagnus Chase novel. If you're not aware, the Magnus Chase series, it is a Norse mythology based seriesand it follows our main character, Magnus, who actually dies in the first one.He then goes to Valhalla, makes a bunch of friends, and is set on a lot of great god-centered adventures. It's hilarious. It's a lot of fun. We all know Rick Riordan is a fantastic writer.I can't wait to see where the journey continues in the third book as I'm a huge fan of this series.I think it's very unique, very effective, but the characters are very different from his other Heroes of Olympus series. So it feels very separate from that world, even though it technically exists like parallel to each other. It's great.I can't wait to see what happens next. And the next book. I want to read this month is Scythe by Neil Schusterman.I feel like this is a perfect October read. This, of course, is a novel that is set in a worldwhere all kind of like bad things that plague humanity have been done away with--war, disease, famine. In fact the only way someone can die is now if a scythe kills them.We follow our main character who is a scythe in training. And I just feel like this is gonna be like a darkdystopian-esque, utopian, styled book and Neil Schusterman is definitely gonna put a mirror on our societyand it's gonna be reflected to this book. Neil is very very good at doing that.I've heard fantastic things about this. This is also an award-winning young adult novel. It's been a little bit since I've read a book by Neil Shustermanso I feel like it's about time. And I feel like this death-centered plot is perfect for October. Alrighty, guysthose are the books I plan to read this month, in the month of October. Please let me know down below some books you guys want to read this month as I would love to know. And I'll see youguys soon with another video soon.Goodbye!\n"
