Our Turkey Smoked Bacon LT Sandwich

Welcome to Barbecue Pitboys.com: The Art of Crafting the Perfect Turkan Sandwich

Today, we're excited to share with you our famous turkey and bacon sandwich, affectionately known as the Turkan. This mouthwatering combination is sure to satisfy your cravings and leave you wanting more. As we begin, we'll start by smoking up some delicious bacon, which is a crucial element in this sandwich.

Smoking Up Bacon: The Key to a Great Sandwich

First things first, we need to get our bacon cooking. We'll be using indirect heat, around 300 degrees Fahrenheit, to achieve that perfect crispy texture and smoky flavor. Now, if you're new to smoking bacon, don't worry – it's easier than you think! Simply take a pound of regular bacon and place it on your grill or smoker, and let the magic happen. With this method, you'll be able to bring back the natural flavors of the bacon, making it a game-changer for any sandwich.

Preparing the Turkey

While our bacon is cooking, we can start preparing the turkey. We're using leftover turkey from Thanksgiving, but feel free to use fresh or cooked turkey if that's what you prefer. The breast meat is the way to go here, as it provides a leaner and more tender option for our sandwich. Simply slice the turkey into thin pieces and get ready to build your masterpiece.

The Bread: The Foundation of a Great Sandwich

Now that we have our turkey and bacon, it's time to think about the bread. This is where most sandwiches go wrong – using too much or the wrong type of bread can make all the difference. For our Turkan sandwich, we want a hearty roll that can hold up to the juicy filling. We're lucky to have some local bakeries nearby that provide us with fresh and delicious bread. To take it to the next level, we'll remove some of the excess breading on the inside, creating a cup-like shape to make room for our turkey and bacon.

Assembling the Sandwich

It's time to bring everything together! We'll start by spreading a layer of ranch dressing on the bottom half of the roll. This will add a creamy element to our sandwich and help balance out the flavors. Next, we'll add our chipotle habanero sauce, which will kick it up a notch and give us that extra oomph. Feel free to adjust the amount to your liking – after all, this is your sandwich!

Adding the Bacon and Turkey

Now it's time to add the star of the show: the bacon! We'll place a whole pound of crispy, smoked bacon on top of our turkey, making sure to cover it evenly. And let's not forget about the turkey itself – we'll load it up with as much breast meat as possible, creating a generous helping that will satisfy even the heartiest of appetites.

The Finishing Touches

To complete our Turkan sandwich, we'll add some fresh lettuce, tomato slices, and a sprinkle of salt. The tomatoes are a crucial element here, so don't skip on seasoning them – you want to bring out their natural sweetness and acidity. And remember, this is where the magic happens: the combination of flavors and textures will come together in a way that's both familiar and excitingly new.

The Final Product

And now, the moment we've all been waiting for... take a look at our finished Turkan sandwich! As you can see, it's a beautiful thing – with its crispy bacon, juicy turkey, creamy ranch dressing, and crunchy lettuce. It's a sandwich that's sure to satisfy even the most discerning palate.
