Moving on to the battery. We've got the same size battery as what we had last year, and honestly speaking, I was expecting it to perform better because of the newer processes. I was expecting them to be more efficient, but I've not really seen any improvement in battery life. I'm getting roughly about the same battery life in my experience compared to what I had last year with the S8+. Now, this isn't bad by any means, it's pretty good. We're talking around four to five hours of on-screen time, but it was really something that I was hoping to be improved for a heavy user like me. For most users, I think you're going to be absolutely fine, but if you are a heavy user, you are going to need a top-up throughout the day.
And the good thing is, you still have fast charging, and the fast charger comes out of the box, unlike other devices, so you can get that quick top-up whenever needed, and this is something that I really, really appreciate. You've also got fast wireless charging, which is great, so if you've got a wireless charging pad on your desk, or on your bedside table, it's so easy just to drop your phone on there rather than having to find the cable and connect it, and I really do like this feature.
Now we do have Android Oreo with the Samsung experience on top. I actually like the Samsung experience skin, and I also like Bixby. I know there is a lot of people with mixed opinions about Bixby. I've covered Bixby voice in detail in a previous video, that's also going to be linked in the cards. I do find it quite useful to perform actions deep within apps, but the problem that you might face in a few months' time is that as soon as we have the new Android version out, it's going to be a good few months before you get it on the S9+, and I'm talking like it could be six months, which is a very long time.
Now I know this isn't all Samsung's fault, and it is because of how Android's built. Hopefully that will improve over time. We should be getting updates quicker on all Android devices, but currently speaking, based on my experience on the S8+, you could be waiting a long time for those updates. And if you are somebody who wants the latest and greatest updates, then this is something that unfortunately you're not going to be getting with the S9+.
Something to bear in mind. Touching on the price, you are going to be paying more for the S9+ compared to last year. In the UK, it actually starts at 128 gigabytes, not the 64, so you're looking at £870, which is the same price that the Note8 came out at, and in the U.S., I think it starts at around $820, which is quite steep, but when you compare it to the thousand pounds or thousand dollars of the iPhone X, it is quite reasonable because you are getting quite a few more features.
So to conclude, what are my overall thoughts of the S9+? Well, I am personally going to be using this going forward as my daily driver as I have been for the past couple of months, and that's because the S9+, in my opinion, is the best all-around flagship phone that you can buy right now. What do I mean by that? Well, it ticks all of the boxes, I think Samsung has spent a lot of time to make sure that it covers all bases. We've got great cameras, we've got the best display on the market, we've got a great build-in design, we've got water and dust resistance, we've got stereo speakers, we've got a fingerprint scanner, we've got an iris scanner, we've got a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, expandable storage, fast charging, fast wireless charging.
All of these things are here, and I don't think there are many flagship devices out right now which cover all of those bases. Are there things that could be improved? Of course, but if you are after an all-around great device, then the S9+ is a great option, and I can definitely recommend it.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- What's up, YouTube?Saf here on SuperSaf TV, andthis is my Samsung Galaxy S9+review, two months later. Now, I actually got hold of the S9+ early, and since getting it, ithas been my daily driverfor the most part. And in this video, I'm goingto be covering my experience,so I'm not going to be goingover specs and things like that. You can check that out insome of my previous videos,in particular, my unboxing. In this video, I'm simplygoing to be telling youwhat I like about the S9+,what I don't like about it,and what I think could be improved.Right, so let's get straight to it.Now, spoiler alert, Ireally do like the S9+,as you guys probably mayhave noticed from someof my social media posts overthe past couple of months, and there's lots of reasons for that.Firstly, I know a lot ofyou guys are going to say,hey the S9+ looks just likethe Samsung Galaxy S8+,and yeah, that's actually true.If you look at the S8+ andthe S9+ next to each other, from the front, you'reprobably not going to evenbe able to tell the difference. Now, I've said this before a few times, but this is not a bad thingbecause the S8+ is stillone of the best lookingphones out there right now.The dual curved symmetrical glass panelsare still unmatched, andbecause of this the S9+as with the S8+ looks absolutelybeautiful in my opinion. There's still a metal frame, which is apparently moredurable compared to last year. There's IP68 water and dust resistance, and there's no real camera bump. This is something that wehave on so many other devices,so I'm glad the S9+ doesn't have it.I'm also digging the twonew colors this year, the coral blue as wellas the lilac purple. Now, as with all glass-backed phones, although they feel really premium, they are quite slippery in the hand, and they do attract alot of finger prints,so for that reason, Iwould definitely recommendpicking up a dbrand skin.I've currently got thematte black one hereon my black S9+ and I reallylike the stealthy look. There's' also the blackcamo, which I really like. And if you do want to pickup a skin for your device, then I will be leaving a linkto our channel sponsor dbrandin the description below. Now one other thing that Ireally like about the S9+is dat display, and in my opinion, theSamsung Galaxy S9+ hasthe best small phone displayin the market right now. We've got Super AMOLEDtechnology with a quad HD plusresolution, so things are very sharp, the blacks are verydeep, colors are vibrant, and you've also got great viewing anglesso you're not going to begetting any color shifting, and this display gets very, very bright. So if you are outdoors in sunlight, you shouldn't have aproblem with this either. On top of that, we've got middle bezels, actually slightly smallercompared to last year. And guess what? There's no notch. And I've said this before, butI don't hugely mind the notchbut I also don't like how it's becominga bit of a trend thesedays with pretty muchall new flagships, and with the S9+, Ithink it's probably oneof the only flagships out this yearthat doesn't have a notch. Now, why am I talking somuch about the display?Well, the thing with the displayis it's very, veryimportant, especially to me,it is what you're going to be looking atwhenever you're using your smartphone. You're going to be staring at a display, and it needs to be a good, and this is definitely the case.Samsung makes some of thebest displays in the market, and I have a feeling thatthey save the best displaysfor their own flagships, and it definitely seemsto be the case with the S9+.Right, moving on, I stilllove the fact that we've gotexpandable storage aswell as a 3.5 millimeterheadphone jack. This is so, so awesome. Two of these things we'reseeing so less of these days, especially the 3.5millimeter headphone jack, and me personally, I stillthink it's very important.I'm somebody who travels a lot,and a lot of the times,I will forget a dongle,or forget some headphones,so I have to kind ofuse whatever headphones I can find, and having that 3.5millimeter headphone jackis so, so important. The S9+ is also very, veryfast, which I really like. It's been very smooth in my experience. You kind of get two versions of the S9+,and this is going to varydepending on your region. You've got either the QualcommSnapdragon 845 version,or the Samsung Exynos 9810 version, and I've actually done adetailed speed comparisonbetween these two, which you can check outin the cards, and inthe description below. But realistically speaking, both of these are someof the fastest processorsout there right now,and I don't really think you can go wrongwith either of these.I also like the fact thatwe've now got six gigabytesof RAM here on the S9+,compared to four last year.If you do get the S9, however, that's still going to havefour gigabytes of RAM.Now one of the things thatI notice about new deviceswithin the first coupleof months are app crashes, and the S9+ has been no exception.I have had a few app crashes, but this is usually the casebecause a lot of appsare not fully optimizedfor the newer processes, but with time, these should clear, andonce again, I don't thinkyou're going to have muchof a problem in termsof speed and performance with the S9+.Now, two of the things that I fed back onlast year with the S8+,first thing was the singlebottom-firing speaker, whichwas okay, but not great.Secondly, it was that fingerprint scanner, which was a very awkwardposition near the camera.Thankfully, this feedbackhas been taken on board, and both of these thingshave now been improved. We've got stereo speakers. There's on in the earpiece, and one bottom-firing,and the speakers do support Dolby Atmos. In my opinion, theysound absolutely great. It makes the viewing experience, especially on this displayabsolutely awesome. And the fingerprint scanner, now it's ina much more reachable position. You can just tap it, it's super fast.It is, however, stillvery close to the cameras, and I have found myselfoccasionally smudgingthe secondary camera when trying to findthe fingerprint scanner.I do wish it was slightly more spaced out,but the fingerprint scanneris likely to be embeddedwithin the display formaybe the next version.Rumors are currently pointing towardsthe Samsung Galaxy Note9 to have an embeddedfingerprint scanner within the display. Now regardless, if you don't want to usethe fingerprint scanner on the back, you still have lots of other options. You can use the iris scanner, you can use facial recognition,or you can use a combination of both, which is intelligent scan. Now, in my experience, allof these work really well, and I've actually donea detailed comparisonof intelligent scan versusface ID on the iPhone X.That video will once againbe linked in the cardsand in the description belowif you want to check it out.Personally speaking, I doprefer the fingerprint scannerand that is always my choice, but I do like the fact that there's lotsof different options soyou can use what you like.Right, now let's talk about the cameras. The cameras are probably oneof the biggest improvementsto what we had last year. The S9+ has a dual camera setup this time, and it's definitely one ofthe best smartphone camerasout right now.Dynamic range has beenimproved compared to last year, and the camera interfaceas well is so much better.Yes, it's very similar to whatwe have on the iPhone now.I know a lot of you guysare going to say that, but I've always liked the simplicityof the iPhone camera app.Now I like that you can justswipe from left to right, and you can switch between the modesrather than having to gointo settings each time. And in terms of low light, the S9+ is one of the bestlow light shooters as well, and that's because ofthe wide F1.5 aperture. You do have a dual aperture on this, and it's going to switchbetween F2.4 and F1.5.I've actually done anothervideo detailing this, and that's going to be linkedin the cards once again.I know I'm linking to a lot of videos, but those will coverthings in a bit more depthrather than me going onand on in this video.I know this video is alreadygoing to be very, very long. Now, a new feature on thecamera as well this yearis super slow-mo.That's 960 frames a second at 720p.This however, is a short burst. It's literally like 0.2seconds, so it's like, boom, and that's it.Then that's going to slow itdown to around six seconds. Now, my problem with superslow-mo on smartphoneshas always been the fact thatit's practically impossibleto capture the right moment, because you need to press it,and unless you're some sort of ninja, you're not going to be ableto press it at the exact time, and this would result in you havingto try like five or 10 times, and I personally would just give up,and I just stopped usingsuper slow-mo on other deviceslike the Xperia XZ1.But what I think Samsung have implementedon the super slow-mofeature is absolutely greatand that is automatic motion detection. This is a small square which you can placein your frame, and as soonas the S9+ notices motionin that square, it'sgoing to start recordingthat burst of slow motion. This makes it so much easierto capture slow motion. Now, if you're not into960 frames a secondon all of this, then you canrecord at 240 frames a secondat 1080p.This works great, and thenyou can slow it down later on,so I actually found myselfusing this a few times as welldepending on the scenethat I was shooting, but overall, it is definitely great. We also have live focuson the rear-facing camerasnow that we have two cameras, and it works pretty well overall. The edge detection is very, very good, and I do like the angle of view as well. One of the problems thatI find with live focusis that it doesn't seem to have HDR.So if you're in a situationwith tricky dynamic range,I do find that it doesblow out the highlights. This is something that Ihope Samsung can improvewith a software update sowe do get HDR on live focus. Now let's talk aboutthe front-facing camera. This is something that I findnot many people talk aboutin general, but selfiesare very important.I think a lot of people thatI know take a lot of selfies, and the front-facing cameraon the S9+ is good overall, but it really hasn't beenimproved in my opinionmuch compared to the S8+.It's still wide for imagesand the dynamic rangeis a bit better, and Istill think this is the bestvlogging camera, because itdoes have great stabilizationfrom the front-facing camera.Although it does crop inquite a bit to achievethat stabilization. It would be nice if Samsungcould figure out a wayto give us that stabilizationwithout cropping in so much. But when it comes to images in general, they're pretty good, but Idon't think they're mind blowingin any way.You do have live focus now, which is going to giveyou that sort of fake blurin the background, to give yousome better portrait selfies. But in my experience, this hasn't been great. It does a decent job.It doesn't work withsunglasses in most occasions.Yes, I know, not everybodywears sunglasses 90% of the timelike I do, but it's just something thatother devices can do, so I'm not sure whythe S9+ can't do it.And also with selfie focus,it only takes one shotwith a blurred background. So if it messes up, and itkind of doesn't do a great job, then that's your selfie gone.It doesn't take a regular, plain selfie as well asthe blurred backgroundversion like lots of otherdevices do, so if you domess up the selfie focus, then that's that selfie gone, and for that reason, I foundmyself not using it that much. Now a new feature that I'mnot too fond of on the S9+is AR emoji. This is basically a characterthat it's going to makebased on your appearance. Now I said this before, but to me,this really seemed like a featurethat you'd probably use for a few days, and then never come back to again, and this has been the case.It was also the case to mewith Animoji on the iPhone X.But I'd say the biggerproblem with AR emojiis that it looks nothing like me,and that's because itdoesn't support a beard, and it doesn't support sunglasses.I mean, those are mytwo key selling points.Samsung, what are you doing?Without the beard andsunglasses, I'm just Saf,I'm not SuperSaf.But, anyway, I mean itis mainly the beard.Without the beard, the ARemoji looks nothing like me,so I just didn't use itbecause if I did send itto somebody, they'd be like, who is that? Also, the face tracking isn't great.I do think that the iPhone10 has better trackingon Animoji compared toAR emoji on the S9+.Moving on to the battery. We've got the same size batteryas what we had last year. And honestly speaking, I wasexpecting it to perform betterbecause of the newer processes.I was expecting them to be more efficient, but I've not really seen animprovement in battery life.I'm getting roughly aboutthe same battery lifein my experience comparedto what I had last yearwith the S8+.Now, this isn't bad by anymeans, it's pretty good. We're talking
