As someone who is passionate about web design, I have to admit that there was a time when I thought I could design websites without knowing the basics of HTML and CSS. But, as it turned out, that was not the case. While services like Wix and WordPress make web designing easier for the user, they don't necessarily mean everybody has the skill and the eye to design a good website.

I remember learning HTML back in high school, and it was an incredible feeling when I created my first HTML file in Notepad on Windows XP. Seeing the code transform into something visual was amazing, even if it was just a basic example of what coding could do. But, as websites became more complex today, I realized that knowing HTML and CSS is essential for any aspiring web designer.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that everyone knows how to build a website, simply because they use services like Wix or WordPress. But, let's face it, just having the tools doesn't mean you're going to do a good job with them. Web designing is not just about using the right software; it's also about knowing good layouts, design composition, and balance. It's about understanding visual weight, text sizes, and image sizes, among other things.

There's another misconception that if someone uses Wix or WordPress, they're not a web designer. But, I strongly disagree with this statement. Just because you use these services doesn't mean you don't have the skills and expertise to design a good website. In fact, it's often easier for beginners to start with these platforms because they provide an intuitive interface and a wide range of templates to choose from.

However, if someone wants to take their web designing to the next level, they need to learn HTML and CSS. cannot call yourself a web designer if you use something like wix or squarespace well my question to you is why not we all have different choices so to start out this video i am going to read the exact definition of web designer that i found online here we go here we go ready a web designer is someone who prepares content for the web this role is mainly related to the styling and layout of pages with content including text and images web designers use many technologies but commonly rely on hypertext and hypermedia resources including html css and additional web design tools so this is what i got to say next and i have my notes right in front of me so i don't forget tools like wix squarespace and wordpress they all exist for a reason because not everybody knows how to hand code a website do i know how to hand code an extremely basic website yes of course that's what i learned in high school years ago but when it comes to designing a complex website with a ton of images and a ton of text and a ton of features and contact forms and animations i much prefer to go the roots of squarespace wordpress and or wix because while all the backend work is done for me and that gives me more time to concentrate on what truly matters and that's the forefront the actual content what the visitor is going to be seeing do you honestly think when somebody goes to a site like youtube that they're thinking about the back end like ooh i wonder how much bandwidth is being transferred right now from this server it is server and vice versa no no no no no users don't give a about that stuff users just care about what's in front of them now i'm not going to call myself the average consumer because i'm not i consider myself a prosumer i use the tools that i have access to to make money hence this video i'm getting paid not to make this video but i'm getting paid with this video with advertising revenue and perhaps you'll sign up using my wix affiliate link at the end of this video and well in turn i make money off that sale okay so backing up a bit i like to use this analogy whenever someone brings up convenience as if it's a bad thing would you rather do a math problem on paper or use a calculator now you can do either one for both good reasons number one you can do a math problem on paper because that teaches you how to solve that problem and well it's a step-by-step process that is what we learned in school is it not but then as you get older and you're busier in life and you just want to save time and save money for that matter wouldn't you much rather use a calculator because the calculator is going to do work for you of course you would i don't know anyone in the right mind who would want to multiply 1 million 268 512 times 56 on paper on paper who does that when we have the ease and the convenience of something like a calculator and guys honestly it's no different than hand coding or making a website using a cms some people prefer that long tedious process but you're just like you and myself you care about our time and care about making money with that time because let's face it the phrase time is money that's true well we're going to use a calculator however and i have this my next note it doesn't hurt to build knowledge in a variety of skills i am very well versed in wordpress squarespace and eventually wix wix is my newest cms that i'm currently using but i will be learning more about that over time as i naturally use it but with that said it's extremely important that you have skills in other areas especially html and css you should not be designing websites for a living if you do not know the basic skills of html and css now thankfully i was lucky enough to learn html back in high school and i'm pretty sure that's the going to do a good job with those tools the tools are just the beginning the rest and honestly 99 of the process comes down to you the designer not everybody knows good layouts not everybody knows that doesn't mean that they're not a web designer because you cannot be more wrong and finally stop being so hostile why are people so hostile why does person a give a about person b and what they use here final cut pro 10 or premiere who gives a they both do a good job playstation or xbox who cares they both play games and they do a great job at it spotify or apple music who cares each platform literally offers millions of songs to choose from and speaking of choosing from that's just the point of this video you have the choice you have the power you have the ability to create stuff to choose stuff to choose things services platforms whatever based on your liking based on your skill sets so with that said i invite you build a website using wix it's 100 free to get started and as far
