Hands on - LaMetric Time - more than just a clock

**Introduction to the Lametric Time**

The Lametric Time is a unique device that serves as both a clock and a status board for your desk. As you can see, it has two panels: one side features 8x8 color LEDs, while the other side has a larger panel of 29 x 8 LEDs. These LEDs are not only colorful but also have a layer of diffusion in front of them, giving them a unique look and providing good viewing angles when viewed from the side.

The device is controlled via the Lametric Time app, which is free to download from the App Store. The app allows you to configure and customize the device to your liking, including changing brightness, screen savers, text controls, and more. You can also use the app to control volume, set up Wi-Fi, and download additional apps to the device.

**App Configuration and Customization**

One of the standout features of the Lametric Time is its app ecosystem. The Lametric Time app allows you to configure and customize the device in various ways. For example, you can change the text animation between scroll or typewriter, alter the size of the text, and even set up physical volume controls on the device itself. Additionally, the app also features a wide range of downloadable apps, including YouTube Channel Subscriber, Twitter, and Philips Hue.

To access these apps, simply open the Lametric Time app and navigate to the "Apps" section. From there, you can browse through the available apps and download any that interest you. Each app has its own setup process, which typically involves connecting to your account or bridge. For example, if you want to connect your YouTube channel, you'll need to log in to your account within the app.

**App Features**

The Lametric Time app offers a wide range of features and functionality, including:

* The ability to scroll through apps like the YouTube Channel Subscriber or Twitter

* Support for Philips Hue and other smart home devices

* Ability to download additional apps from the App Store

* Customization options, such as text animation and size

* Control over volume and screen brightness

**Physical Design and Build Quality**

The Lametric Time itself is a compact device that fits neatly on your desk. However, its build quality is somewhat lacking. The speaker is not very good, and the device does not have a battery, making it non-portable.

Despite this, the Lametric Time is still a functional device that can serve as both a clock and a status board for your desk. Its unique design and features make it stand out from other devices of its kind.

**Hands-On Experience**

The article concludes with a hands-on experience with the Lametric Time app. The author demonstrates how to use the app, including downloading additional apps, setting up Wi-Fi, and sending animated stickers using the "L Metric Smile" app (a separate app that can be used outside of the network).

This app allows you to send stickers to your family or friends even if you're not at home, making it a convenient feature for communication. Overall, the Lametric Time is a unique device that offers a range of features and functionality beyond just being a clock.

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, the Lametric Time is a innovative device that serves as both a clock and a status board for your desk. Its unique design, customization options, and app ecosystem make it stand out from other devices of its kind. While its build quality may be somewhat lacking, the device still offers a range of features and functionality that make it worth considering.
